Interested to see thoughts on this game. Lots of intriguing prospects on both teams.

I’m wondering if Vernon is a legit prospect. I remember hin coming out of highschool ,Georgetown fan, and he didn’t get anything going there and transfered. He now looks solid in the post against a potential top 5 pick.

Also Sullinger has gone up 4 times with authority and has been blocked…

Sullinger isn’t very explosive on offense or defense, Maclin is getting that jump hook off fairly easily. Sullinger kinda reminds me of Elton Brand.

Boynton is a gunner and is a streaker shooter, I really don’t see him having a career in the NBA unless he’s a 12th man, reminds me of Crittenton alittle.

Patric Young is really nothing on offense, all he is is a slightly better Reggie Evans at this point.

Sullinger reminds me more of Al Jefferson ( like this site)

David Lighty and Vernon Macklin will most likely be 2nd rounders: Both could be role players in the L down the line

Boynton has point guard potential, I think he needs to run the position. Right now, he’s force to be the offensive go-to player

Ummmm yeah sullinger is straight beasting Alex,Vernon and who ever else they throw at him. He’s dunking everything near the basket including one on Alex head. If I’m
Not mistaken he has 26 and 9reb. Against 6’10 Vernon
6’9 athlete Patrick young and 6’9 or 10 quick big man Alex  plus the soft sf who tries his best mike dunlevy impression. He’s getting lit up. This is what I’m talking about when I said this summer skill over athletic potential sullinger vs perry jones

If Ohio State doesn’t stumble against FSU in the Big Ten/ACC, they could start off 19-0. Also, they don’t go to East Lansing this year which is really going to bode well for their chances. It is hard to find any fault in how the Buckeyes have looked.

I still think they’ll struggle against teams with legit big men.

When do they appear on the schedule? Other than FSU, it is going to be smooth sailing for a while.

Why would they struggle against legit big men when sullinger and the other guy are legit big men?  Florida has 3 legit big men and Ohio state didn’t struggle.  What other team has legit big men?  Vernon had a lil run where he hit a couple of jump hooks that’s it. Other then that sullinger fronted him well so he couldn’t get position and played good defense on him

Because 6’8 and 6’9 isn’t 7’1. It is grasping at straws because a team would rather have talent than simply big, but I can see the length of FSU, Illinois, and maybe Minnesota causing them some problems.

I doubt sullinger has any problems with those big men. He’s been killing those same guys since he was a soph. And taller doesn’t mean better defender. Interesting enough the better big men defenders are usually shorter then 7feet. Plus with sullinger he can step out and hit the jumper as well as handle the ball and drive. Think Elton brand with a mix of Kevin love jumper. When a big man is very skilled and big in college height isn’t as much as a problem. Especially when that big man is bigger on the lowe body and most Likely stronger. I predict foul trouble for the gophers and fighting illini big men. It will be interesting to watch though.  I see the other teams having more of a match up problem against Ohio state like last year except now Ohio at can score downlow consistantly

Don’t throw high school performance out there. These are teams with professional coaches and solid defensive schemes. Both Illinois (Tisdale, Cole, Davis, Griffey, and Leonard) and Minnesota (Sampson, Iverson, Mbakwe, and Walker) go deep with length, and can send a second man with great length as well. Illinois’ season basically starts tomorrow, and we’ll see if they utilize their length as well as I think they can. I saw a bit of Minnesota against Siena, and I absolutely loved the way they defend. Mbakwe gives them a lot more athleticism up front, and really going to pay dividends come Big Ten season. Sampson is moving better as well.
