BlazermannParticipantalright here i go agian… as of now pretty much every nba mock has harrison barnes a the first pick but what some other prospect take that title away from him , im no where near saying
that he isnt worth the top pick come june 2011 , but as i remember derick rose came out of no where and shot up the draft boards in 2008 with his amazing talents and became the first point guard draft since allen iverson, so im just wondering is there another low-key amazing talent out there to over come harrison barnes or perry jones? or a surprize pick type of player? just wondering dont shoot me down lol0 - Posted on: Sat, 11/13/2010 - 10:23am #433826
nbaretroParticipantIf Harrison Barnes averages 16-6 he should be the 1st pick. I want to see him in the Duke games and any close games. I want to see the closing ability and the competativeness he has.
Jones should be more 5-10 range IMO.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI know it’s early but Terrence Jones looked sick in his first game. Lebron James build (6-8, 244lbs of muscle at the age of 18), small forward skills, he can score inside and out, handle the ball, rebound and play D (when he wants to at least).
He’s kinda like a slightly shorter but also stronger version of Lamar Odom.

apb540ParticipantDerrick Rose did not come out of no where and shoot up draft boards. He was projected to go first since like his senior year on this site.

butidonthavemoneyActually, before his freshman year, Rose was fourth on the mock. Behind Mayo, Beasley and DeAndre Jordan.

Aran SmithKeymasterActually I still have the Mayo vs Rose boxscore from 7/23/2006 on my bulletin board. Rose cried after that AAU game in Vegas as he got the game stolen from him on a phantom foul call, and this was his big chance to show everyone he was better than Mayo. I was convinced… (Mayo’s team bowed out soon after that game and Rose and Eric Gordon carried their team to the final (the best AAU tourney I’ve ever seen by a mile) eventually losing to a team consisting of Brandon Jennings, Kevin Love, Renardo Sidney, Daniel Hackett, Taylor King)
And the only guy that was ever above Rose on the 2008 mock was Beasley (aside from Mayo initially). Rose – Beasley – Mayo were projected 1, 2, 3 – 2 years before that draft (from that point on) and only Beasley and Rose flip flopped during Beasley’s incredible freshman season. When the tourney rolled around and Rose blew up taking Memphis to the title game we moved Rose back to 1 and if you remember we were the only one that had him 1 for quite a while. From April to May… Jordan never, ever projected over Rose on our mock.

Aran SmithKeymasterYou can actually use the wayback machine at archive.org to see old mocks:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://nbadraft.netYou won’t be able to see anything within the past 2 and a half years however – not sure why.

HitsterParticipantBarnes or Jones seem like the logical top two picks at the moment but Kyrie Irving for example could challenge them if Duke did repeat their title success or one of Coach Cal’s one and done guys is likely to go very high but a lot will depend on who has first pick and what their greatest need might be.

gregoden08ParticipantIt’s going to be very hard for someone to climb over Barnes for the number 1 pick (BPA not by what position is needed). He is just so efficient and mature that scouts will just fall in love with him. I expect some very big outings from him against top teams. The player who could potentially be number 1 is Perry, but I see him having a very inconsistent year. Terrence is going to have a great year, but he will have to dominate Barnes or something like that to show that he has number 1 pick potential. I like Sullinger, but I really don’t see him being a number 1 pick. Kyrie has an outside chance as well, but I don’t see the greatness out of him at the pg position as say a Wall, Rose etc.

nbaretroParticipantI think if the Pistons get the first pick…Kyrie Irving should be the pick.

Aran SmithKeymasterFor the missing profiles 2000-2005 – 2000 first round is done. I’ll have 2005 done first and go back from there. Will try to be done by first week of December.
Money – no worries m’man. Just wanted to make sure history wasn’t getting rewritten incorrectly on here.
