Haha, thats great.  With his wingspan it’d be hard to bench that much weight.  I remember reading an article about David Robinson and he could bench 320 in his prime and he is probably one of the most ripped humans to step on a basketball court.

WHAT A BEAST! Seriously though, I am sure he is much stronger now, and he definitely proved that the bench press at the draft combine is close to useless. It is interesting, but tells you little of a players overall ability and even there overall strength. Blake Griffin killed it, but so did Luke Harangody. NBA players are strong as hell, but measuring strength by the bench press seems to not work. I would say it matters more for bigs than for guards, but to me the speed and vert tests are maybe more telling about a persons athleticism.

Guys with long arms hence long wingspans will find the bench press hard especially someone like Durant who was only 215lbs I seem to recall. I expect that he could bench press a fair amount more now, anyone know what Big Ben Wallace’s bench press PB was as he was a well known gym rat during his first Detroit stint.

Big Ben has been said to bench around 460, same as Ron Artest.
