Listening to Colin Cowherd and he said John Wall is going to turn out like Iverson,Francis, and Marbury and I have to agree.

He’ll get 10 all-star appearances and have great stats, but he’ll never win a title, all he cares about is himself just like those other guys.

Cowherd brought up that dance as evidence, how we had to plan it out before hand and that elite guys would never do that. Even though he’s young you can tell by first impression what he’ll be.

Thoughts on this cause I totally agree.

when Wall will have bad game there will be "he is not that good" and now after that type of games there comes stuff like this cause people don’t know how to make him worse in other ways.

he said it doesn’t matter that he’s 20 because you can tell by first impressions. Said Magic Johnson at the age of 22 in the NBA never did that and that no great PG has every done stuff like that.

You just lost 100000 cool points for this tongue out like 23 and your evidence is a dance??? Dwight Howard dances, Shag Dances, Lebron Dances what does that prove NOTHING….It was the home opener and I read from the recap on my iphone I will find the story but a security guard told Wall to dance and get the crowd into it. This not only proves how gullible you are but how little you know. Wall is already a better pure point guard than all 3 of them he actually puts effort forth on defense and you can tell by his post game interviews that he is about the TEAM not himself

Thats kind of a dumb thing to say, that a guy wont win a ring after he’s only played in 3 nba games..lmao!!

The more i watch Wall play in the nba..The more I see traces of a young Dwayne Wade in his game…And nobody never said Wade wasnt a clutch player..

Cowherd’s job is to be controversial and say things that will get responses from the audience..A few weeks ago he said Durant was just a scorer and very overrated..Durant answered him back on his Twitter page and said he’s only 22 and still a work in progress…

P.S Michelle Beadle is so sexxy!!!!

I think Wall will win at  least on ring and he except for being highly talent, he does have much in common with those players or their carrers.  Wall can score at wil but would rather set up his teammates.  He actually plays defense.  Right now I could argue that Wall right now is better than all of those guys mention when they were in their primes.  AI is tough call but Wall can play defense and pass which AI did not do consistently.  AI did not have the court vision of Wall.

Just cause Wall gets steals doesn’t mean he can play defense, Iverson got steals and sucked on defense. Lou Williams scored 30 points on Wall last night, that’s not good defense.

But I can show you, THROUGH INTERPRETIVE DANCE!

I have spent years studying dance psychology, and find that John Wall’s head bobbing did bring back memories of Steve Francis’. His Harlem shake was a direct reference to Stephon Marbury, and I think he did 3 different enactments of the John Wall dance, clearly as a sign of allegiance to all three players listed, particularily Iverson’s famous number. Also, he ate a Big Turk candy bar, which gave him the energy he needed to do the really stupid dance in the first place.

But, to answer your question, yes, the dance looked ridiculous, though I am sure people loved it. But, to say he is in the category of those players who never won championships, after 3 whole games, is ridiculous. After the guy did the dance, he had 29 points, 13 assists and 9 steals, not to mention his team won the game. Those players listed were all phenomenal players in their rookie years as well, so I am not knocking them in the least, but John Wall definitely has to be given a chance. The guy could indeed be better than all of them once his career comes to a close, and while he may not carry the Wizards on his back to a title, if he gets the right pieces in place it could definitely happen. If you look at the Wizards current roster, no, they do not have the pieces to win a title. But, John Wall is a PG who I think can definitely be one of the better, if not the best player on a title team down the line. It is all about the pieces, and the aforementioned three players never had them, nor were willing or able to take a secondary role. We do not know that about John Wall yet, because he has yet to play on a team where he has needed to do that due to the fact, and it is becoming clear on Washington, that he is better than anyone on his team. Yes, his dance was stupid, but lots of great players have done stupid dances. You can harp all you want about Reggie Miller and LeBron not having won rings, but I recall a big dancer by the name of Shaquille O’Neal who did pretty well for himself. If John Wall does this dance before every game, well, that might just cause me not to root for him due to its utter ridiculousness, but doing it one time before a game is not going to cause me to write him off in the least, even if he hadn’t had a killer game. If you want to judge people by the way they come into pre-game intro’s, than, well, whatever floats your boat. But, I think doing so is even more stupid than the dance is in the fist place. Plus, not even close to as fun as it was for the fans. I may have thought it looked ridiculous, but it was fun, and the criticism of said writer is just kind of, well, Kevin Garnett.

"You just lost 100000 cool points for this tongue out like 23 and your evidence is a dance??? Dwight Howard dances, Shag Dances, Lebron Dances what does that prove NOTHING"

    very well put WizKid

Listening to Colin Cowerd will get you nowhere.  Its been proven he is an idiot.

I’ll take this a step further asIverson never danced, Francis never danced (whole dancing thing really seems stupid now doesn’t it), both put up 20-25 shot per game and neither of them passed like Wall does.  Dude scored 29 and took only 14 shots.  he had 13 dimes in his 3rd pro gamegame and is averaging 10+ so far in the early year.

Throwing out the 1st game where the team let the kid down with thier effort, Wall in the past 2 games has consistently looked for open teammates before looking for his.  In both games he didn’t really look for his shot until well towards the end of the 1st half, even into the 3rd period.

Even late in the sixer game with it on the line he deferred to Dray for the last play even though he had been the most consistent scorer.

I liken him more to a scoring point that looks to pass 1st such as Deron Williams and Chris Paul.  Kid will average 8-10 dimes consistently.

Remember Arenas will be back to provide more outside scoring and Wall showed in the preseason that wanted to get Gil his shots before his (as Gil hit at a 50% clip in the preseason).

Also no one comes into the NBA and is a lock down defender.  Lou Will got a ton of his points on both both Heirich and Nick Young.

What you guys see as a bad attitude and "me only" persona I see as good, hardcore, aggressive leadership that will only get better with experience.

When a teammate misses a wide open jumpshot you can see he will sort of get a cold look from Wall. He scares his teammates into playing to his level just like Jordan used to, just like Kobe does, and just like Wade and LeBron cant. Durant does it too, along with Billups, Garnett, Nash and most of the games greats.

Saying Wall is better now then Iverson in his prime is just insane.  And Iverson was a shooting guard anyway.  4 scoring titles while still averaging 7 assists.

And everybody saying Wall is already good on defense have you watched the games?  Lou Williams lit him up last night.

The fact you actually posted this and are arguing about it makes me question your intellectual capacity, he danced briefly pregame, is 3 games in his rookie season and is 20 years old and you can already tell he will never win a championship, only cares about himself and will make 10 all star appearances? Damn you could make some money off of your oh so accurate predictions (in case you didn’t notice this is very sarcastic)

First of all, John Wall is going to be pretty good, a for sure all-star, a great PG and probably from this generation of NBA players a serious consideration someday I’m sure as a HOF candidate. he’s already better than Marbury, maybe Francis, and if he can keep a credible 80% or so from the stripe, and some 3 ball range, balanced with some shot selection, he’ll be better than Wade and Iverson(who btw out of the 4 comparisons are the only HOF candidates).

I think our idea of greatness, and clutch is really skewed these days, compared to the days of Michael, Magic, Bird, Hakeem and so on. None of these players seem to really have that "it" factor anymore(except maybe Kobe, which hurts saying because he’s such a douchebag). Don’t get me wrong Lebron, DWade, Durant. They are all wayyyy better than I’ll ever be, and they are the most talented players in the league. However there has been a really crappy trend over the years, of super talented players who are capable of being great, putting it in cruise control and getting by on talent alone. Did anyone hope that Lebron would have improved his FT% or range by now? DWade the same? work on turnovers? Dwight or Shaq learn to shoot a jumper or from the freethrow line? There are people who work hard and people who are talented, but very few who are both. If you look at Jordan, Magic, Hakeem, they all greatly improved over their careers. I think Kobe is the best in this area now, and I think that despite what Colin Cowherd being right about Durant, Durant seems like he might be a little more old school than his superstar peers. John Wall strikes me as that sort of special case too. I remember reading a story about when he first arrived in D.C. after being drafted, that he would look for teammates to shoot around, and practice with in the wee hours of the morning, when most newly rich 20 year olds would be out living it up. That is the kind of ethic that it will take to help him differentiate himself from the Iversons, Francis, Marburys, Wades. Only time will tell which of us will be eating our words.

Oh and Cowherd is great at stating the obvious, Which is to say he is a loud mouthed useless, annoying idiot. Every morning I wake up at work with Mike and Mike, and then at 9:59am I have to turn before I have to hear his whiny bitch voice, Jerry Springer-ing up my morning sports fix. I should have his job.

9 steals and also other games where you are getting at least 3 steals or so and also long arms and quickness makes you a above average defender in itself.  You don’t get that many steals by blind luck.

9 steals and also other games where you are getting at least 3 steals or so and also long arms and quickness makes you a above average defender in itself.  You don’t get that many steals by blind luck.

My bad he has zero steals one game but I doubt that happens very often.  In another year his defense should be on par with Rondo’s.

How are you going to say Wall is going to never going to win a championship when he has only played 3 games?? It’s ridiculous how terrible some of these posters on this site are getting. Wall is a very good player already, and will only get better, and you don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. As the Wizards or whatever team he’s on in the future gets the right pieces around him, I can certainly see him competing for a championship. Colin Cowherd is an idiot. John Wall doesn’t even have the same playing-style as Francis, Marbury, or Iverson. All those players were "score-first" players, and Wall is much more of a "pure point-guard.

And delfam, I know you didn’t say it, but the fact that you agree to it makes me think that you and Colin are "Butt Buddies."

I agree to an extent just cause scoring point guards normally don’t win championships, usually teams with go to SG or C’s usually win. I still need to see him slow the game down and run an offense but obviously he has the talent to.

Pretty sure Wall’s career low in assists right now is 9. Sounds like he can do more then just score.

Doesn’t have the playing style to win championships. Hmmmm. That’s interesting.  John stockon didn’t have the playing style to win a title either huh

No one players playing style stops or gets a guy a title it’s team effort. That’s a dumb comment.  Cp3 and dwill also don’t have titles. Dfisher does so if wall plays like dfisher will he have the style to win a title

Wall dances but doesn’t stick his tounge out so if he stops dancing and starts talking junk, berating his teammates, and sticking out his tounge he will have the style that wins titles?

That is how Colin makes his money: saying really ridiculous BS. If I had the career he does, I’d probably say some of the same asinine comments he makes. Sometimes he’s right on, but sometimes when he says something, it’s like wtf…

Wall doesn’t play anything like the guards the thread starter mentioned (iverson, francis, marbury).  Wall is a pass 1st (and his stats show it with his high APG in just his rookie year) PG who happens to be blessed with elite size, speed, athletecism.  Hes closer to Russell Westbrook more than any of the other PGs mentioned.  Gary Payton never won a title, yet hes a 1st ballot hall of fame and arguably top 3 PG of all-time.  A title doesnt necessarily seal your fate or define your legacy.

My bad, I guess he did, but did that title catapul him to become top 3 PG of all time?  Karl Malone never won a title and hes a top 5 PF of all time, if he had won a title I dont think he would rank any higher than where he is now.  Same story with Jason Kidd.

The only reason you agree with Colin is because you think maybe you can get to Michelle Beadles ass.

He’ def has the GP body style with a little more speed and athelticism.  If he turns out like GP then he’ll have had a hell of a career.

Delfam you make a valid point that PG don’t necessarily win champoinships.  Thats where he’ll need a player to grow with like a Blake Griffin type. Also most pg’s struggle early in their career (including Steve Nash and Chris Paul).  Gotta give the guy a chance to make mistakes.  Local radio was ready to crush the team after the 1st game.  He’s gonna strugle in the half court (slow down).  A lot of this can be contributed to the team’s lack of adequate bigs, missing another outside shooter (Arenas) and to the obvious he just turned 20.

FYI Cowherd got crushed on his show yesterday by Chris Mullin about J Wall.  Mullin told him he needed to reevaluate his sources.

Looking forward to Wall with Arenas this Fri against the Knicks.
