TC_42ParticipantRose: 28pts – 38%fg – 6asts – 4rebs – 2to – 0stl
Russ: 28pts – 53%fg – 6asts – 10rebs – 3to – 2stl
Rose looked phenomenal early, but he just had to try too hard offensively in the second half. Westbrook was MUCH more efficient over all, but I think Boozer’s absence had something to do with that.
Westbrook wins this head-to-head matchup and the game.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI agree. Rose had to carry too much of the offensive load.
Westbrook had Durant, who didn’t shoot well, but went for 30. Green also played very well.
Great game by Westbrook though and way to finish out a game by the Thunder. They really packed the paint on Rose in the second half and made it difficult for him.

HaleParticipantI agree. Early on Rose looked amazing, he had a nice balance over driving, pulling up and dishing. As the game went on he forced too many shots, good win for the Thunder and Westbrook in the personal matchup.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI still think that Rose is the better player, but it’s close.
Westbrook is improving rapidly though and he’s active. VERY good all-around game and he compliments Durant very well.

FastAndFuriousParticipantWestbrook played really solid the whole game, Rose was verrrry good at the beginning but slowed up towards the end.
Westbrook wins the first matchup

ChrischiParticipantVery entertaining game!!! The Thunder made some good adjustments to stop Rose. Imagine if the Bulls had Boozer, they might have won that road game.
And stop saying Westbrook is on the same level as Rose. Westbrook will be probably a deserving all-star this year but could he carry a whole teams offense? I don’t think so.

llperezyeah, i’ve always said rose is better and im still not ready to change my mind even though i do think westbrook looked better in the WC’s this summer. BUt i dont like the term that rose is on another level at all.

TC_42ParticipantNo one is saying that Westbrook could carry a whole team’s offense. But Rose didn’t carry the Bulls offense tonight… at least he didn’t carry it all that well. Yeah he scored the most for them and took the most shots, but he shot 38% and took over twice as many shots as Westbrook to score the same amount of points.
But that being said, if I had to choose one to carry an offense over a whole season, I would still pick Rose.

mgreener_34ParticipantI don’t care who won the match up today, because these guys make for some exciting basketball. Rose in the begining and Westbrook at the end of that game was just pure energy and excitement.

OhCanada-ParticipantRose was absolutely leaving Westy in the dust when it was a head to head matchup between the two. In the second half OKC gave up on that and started helping much more on Rose and clogging the paint daring someone else to beat them. Westbrook played that great textbook team game and did what Coach Brooks sent him out there to do. He executed consistantly for 4 quarters. Rose slipped up in the 4th qaurter when all the p^ressure was on him. I say Westbrook won this battle but once Boozer gets back aand the two play (I think they play later this year) we can make a better judgement. They are honestly the two most explosive in the NBA today possibly my two favourite players to watch.
At the end of the year their will be about 5 PGs in the debate for best PG in the league. Westbrook, Rose, Rondo, Williams, and Paul.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThere will be no debate at the end of the season. Paul and Williams still sit at the top. I do think either Rondo, Rose or Westbrook (possibly all of them) will surpass Nash though.

Did you watch the game or are you just looking at the stats? Rose dominated the 1st half shooting the ball very well against good defense, then the Thunder made adjusments. The Bulls didn’t readjust. I didn’t look as if they were running many plays. I many situations Rose had to pull up. I think where you can blame Rose is that his open three’s weren’t falling although he said he worked hard on that category, in some situations he could have passed the ball and he got into foul trouble but those are small things. And he carried his teams offense for the past two reg. seasons plus playoffs. How can you point out one game where he shot 8-15 in the first quarter (not sure if it was 8-15 but it was over 50%).
The Bulls did a poor job early on sending Westbrook to the line that’s why his ppg is so high. Russ won’t get 13 FTa every game and make 12.

ChrischiParticipantSorry, but Kidd isn’t 9/10. He’s my personal favorite PG but he is just a complementary piece. He’s probably the most effiecient passer and good spot up shooter but not more. That’s alot but guys like Westbrook, Rondo and Rose still bring a lot more to the table.
His defense is also not more than average. He gets into the passing lanes but his on ball defense isn’t as good as it was.

because statistics doesn’t show how big for their teams are guys like Thabo.

stanford hoopsExactly. Westbrook stepped up in the second half
Westbrook can carry a team just as much as rose IMO because he can do more. Rose can score but his defense is average and his passing is ok. Westbrook has shown he can score 20plus if he has to but he also can play great defense which rose can’t do and showed he’s a better rebounder. You can see sum people will make excuses no matter what
@oh Canada I watches the whole game. Rose was scoring on picks not blowing past Westbrook. What game where u watching? If anything rose had a harder time checking Westbrook sending him to the Lind and getting 4fouls in 20min by the middle of the third quarter
Reality is Westbrook is clearly the better ALL AROUND point guard and clearly out played rose last night. Maybe rose will out play him next time maybe not but there’s no debate about who holds the belt between the two right now
