Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantDerek Fisher is a 5 time NBA Champion, the HEART of all 5 championships.
Hard worker and a great leader. Never gives up or gives in and never shows any signs of desperation as he takes each play one at a time. He’s the president of the NBPA. This guy represents a class act NBA player and who all NBA players should aspire to be like. Might be a future head coach in the future and probably make a good one.
Now my question:
Is Derek Fisher a Hall of Famer?
The question is farfetched, but I’m not just asking about basketball achievements as a player, he’s the president of the NBPA where he has done a great job and may be a great coach. So is there anyway Derek Fisher gets into the Hall of Fame. Either as a player, coach, or associate to the game.

SubZeroParticipantI’d say so. He was one of the most important players in the 5 championships he and Kobe have won together

RUDEBOY_ParticipantHELL NAW!!! LMAO!!! Not even Close!!!
Guys like Tim Hardaway,Terry Porter & Steve Smith were waaaaay better players than Fisher and they won’t be in the Hall of Fame…..
Some people have said for years that he shouldn’t be a starter but his Basketball Smarts keep him in the starting lineup….
Fisher is the type of gritty, dependable, hard working player, every coach wants on their team…Plus playing along side Kobe he can be a decoy with his deadly shooting..

JNixonParticipantDerek Fisher might get into the Hall of Fame as a coach someday. I think he’d make a great coach. But as a player? Man HELL NAW (Smokey from Friday voice, lol)

Im Your FatherParticipantThere is no way that he belongs in the HOF. Yes he was important to those Laker teams, but I feel like he was easily replaceable. There are a lot of savvy old point guards who can shoot.

RUDEBOY_Participantlol..how can you judge a guy as a coach ,when he’s still playing? And never coached..

We have to see THEIR BODY of WORK 1st!!!

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantOkay, thank you RUDEBOY for an actual answer. Then again, people are predicting the Heat to win a championship when we haven’t seen their body of work as a team.

SupParticipant7 with one team trumps. That’s why I state “with the Lakers.”
Derek Fisher will have then become the Derek Jeter of the NBA, hall of fame.0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/24/2010 - 9:58am #417914

Im Your FatherParticipantExcept for Derek Jeter, as much as I hate him is actually very talented. Fisher is not. Jeter will have lots of major statistical accomplishments, Fisher will not. That is an awful comparison.

SupParticipantSay whatever you’d like 7 rings and he will surely be in there. And of course Fisher is talented, you can’t teach what he does.

Im Your FatherParticipantYou compared him to Jeter, who I despise, but is one of the best shortstops in the game. Fisher was never even close to being one of the best point guards.
You act like there aren’t lots of other veterans who can hit clutch shots. If you let them play with Shaq, Kobe, Odom, Horry, Gasol, Bynum, etc. for a few years, I bet they’d win a bunch of championships too.

llperezno hof for fish as a player, not even close. As for as a coach, coaching is one of the most impossible things in the world to predict. FIsh might be able to coach, but what on earth do we have to base him being any good at it.
