Im Your FatherParticipantI think the Lakers are by far and away the best team in the West, but I could see them pulling a Celitcs and taking it easy every now and then during the regular season to save themselves for the playoffs. I think a team like Dallas might play harder every night and maybe have a better record.
Let me go on record and say they are definitely not better than LA, I just think they might go a little harder during the regular season.

IndianaBasketballParticipantAre you guys predicting the Nuggets to miss the playoffs with Carmelo Anthony or without him?

sheltwon3ParticipantI think with the whole controvesy and with there being a lot of good team in the West, Denver may not make it.

llperezfor the lakers, i think kobe will be motivated knowing he only has a few elite years left and the way the heat overshadowed the title this summer and he will be motivated to play hard for 82. That and the overall talent is enough for me to think they get to about 58-60 wins and win the west. But the west from top to bottom is very hard to predict. Im sitting there looking at teams like the suns and nuggets not being in the playoffs and im like wow, this is a stacked conference. The conference might see like 10 teams with between 45-55 wins.

llperez@indiana, denver is tough to predict becasue i do think they could make the playoffs obviously with him. BUt the uncertainty of that along with the potential injuries to their bigs nene, kmart, and andersen makes me unsure about them as a team. They might miss the playoffs even with melo, or finish like 4th.

kaceyParticipant@IndianaBasketball,
Too much trade talk surrounding Carmelo’s name right now. I think the Nuggets may miss the playoffs either way. I personally believe he won’t be a Nugget when this season is over. I feel the same about the Hornets, regarding Chris Paul.
The 8 spot in the West will be a battle between the Suns, Grizz, and Nuggets.
