ThaMatrixParticipantbeing a raptors fan, all i have heard latley is "The raptors starting lineup is like a bench". It may seem like it, but it aint true! They have a great group of not so big names. Sonny weems, demar derozan, linas kleiza, Bargs, Jarret Jack, Leandro Barbosa and lots of more young talent. Personally i think this team could have a solid season.
P.s.
HOW ARE THEY RATED LAST IN NBA 2K11? Lol jk. But seriously, The nets are better than them?

BasterdInABasketParticipantThe Nets are a lot better than Toronto. Sorry. Theyll have one of the three worst records in the league.

ZeroParticipantThe raptors are a bad team, but we have lots of potential with young guys that can easily have a break out year.

SubZeroParticipantI personally think they’ll be better than the Cavs and Pistons. They have a lot of potential, so they’ll either surprise or sadly, meet everyone’s expectations of mediocracy

yankees1ParticipantThey do have some good young talent . They need to get lucky in this years lottery and draft a Perry Jones or K. Irving. They have Miami’s first round pick as well. With some luck in the draft and if DeRozen, Davis, Weems and Bargnani keep developing , they could be an exciting team.

ChrischiParticipantEvery roster looks kinda promising if you look at it separately. Every roster has young talent which might break out! You have to compare the roster with other teams and the best Raptor players, would be only strong bench players or 3rd to 4th options for other teams.
The Pistons will be better because they atleast have some guys who can play defense. If the Pistons decide to trade players like Prince then of course they might drop below the Raptors.
You have to be very optimistic if you want to find a worse team. If I look at other teams you find atleast some guys who can play defense. Ben Wallace is a steal for 2mil. Prince is a very good defender. Varejao is a good defender and rebounder. The Raptors on the other hand have the worst defensive and rebounding center in the league in Bargnani. Jack is probably their best defender and he is a guard. And yes the Cavs will suck hard but Jamison and Mo Will will probably score 20 points each. If I was trying to get the best roster for the next season I would pick Jamison over Bargnani and Mo-Will over Calderon or Barbosa.
Sorry Raptor Fans, but I think the only way not to get last is if one of the other teams like the Cavs and Pistons decide to rebuild and trade their strong players. I’m not a hater I’m just trying to judge the situation from a neutral standpoint.

NashyMingParticipantI hope the Raptors suck so that
1) They will let Triano go and hire a legit coach (starting Reggie Evans is pissing me off and Triano probably needs a few years of exp to be legit)
2) They will let BC go and hire a legit GM (not likely)
3) Get a top 3 pick next year and get one of Harrison Barnes, Kyrie Irving or Enes Kanter

AndyBeng2ParticipantSad to say but the Raps will be bottom dwellers in the NBA this year, hopefully they will see signs of improvment in thier young talent. Hopefully Bargs takes the step and shows why he was a #1 pick, I could see him averaging 18-22 ppg. I don’t expect too many wins though, maybe 25 at the most from the Raptors. Good luck in the lottery!

ChrischiParticipantI have a feeling that Bargnani will average high numbers, because they’ll run most of their offense through him. Like 23 and 7,5 reb. And people will start yelling that he should be an all-star.

nuffsaid_2001ParticipantI spitting out these names because to me any free agent or overseas player should look at catching on with this team and trying to make the most of the opportunity. This is a great chance to get some burn and see if you can earn a nice roster spot somewhere else. Weems is a solid starter but better suited off the bench. I just have dreams of super athletic team with no hi IQ in a don nelson system. I hope they try it it would be great.

Zan TabakParticipantyeah looks like another long year in raptor land, I think that in terms of high end future talens there isnt a team in the NBA more lacking than were are, maybe Demar Derozan who has shown flashes but has a looong way to go in terms of developing a handle and other ball skills, I dont even see bargnani as holding "elite" potential, I could see him putting up 22 and 7 on a team that wins 30 games a year, but i think he lacks that mental edge and nose for the ball that would allowe him to be anymore more than a third fiddle on a good team. Hollinger stated some interesting stats on bargnani :
ranked 61 out of 64 nba centres in rebound rate
ranked last in the nba my a mile in steals per minute at .036.
really can anyone think of a team with a worse future??? (even Minni has K.Love!)

omphalosParticipantThe Nets and Cavs have one important difference from the Raptors; solid coaching. Byron Scott will prevent the Cavs being the worst record just like Avery Johnson could lift the Nets into obscurity. Never underestimate the importance of good coaching.
As far as the Raptors are concerned; getting Barbosa was a bad idea because Derozan desperately needs the playing time and Barbosa is simply a better player right now. Better to suck now and develop your young talent than remain mediocre with late lottery picks. If they slum it and end up with a top 3 pick they should go with Kanter. He’d be a godsend for two reasons;
1) He’s a C who will let Bargnani play the PF where he hopefully won’t be overmatched and
2) He’s Turkish, so he won’t have any qualms playing in Toronto.
Going to be an interesting year for the Raptors in terms of starting lineups; I’m hoping Derozan gets thrown to the fire and comes out stronger and ready to kill it next season.

Toronto16ParticipantAs a Raptor fan, all I can say to other Raptor fans is pray that Harrison Barnes is a superstar (or Kyle Irving) cause Andrea Bargnani looks really bad, DeRozan plays very uncomfortable, and we need and upgrade at PG. It’s going to be a rough year.

omphalosParticipantHmm, good point about Hedo haha, completely slipped my mind. Definitely need an upgrade at PG position; I’d be trying to get Bayless from Portland if I were the Raptors. The kid is hungry to have a bigger role and is young/talented.
Lets see what Kanter does in Kentucky before we judge him so harshly. Raptors need to accept that every franchise player they’ve had has bailed on them because they don’t want to live in Canada for their whole careers and be a bit more careful with their drafting.

Zan TabakParticipantyeah I actually like Kanter, I just had to get that Hedo chrip in there, not sure if well get to see what Kanter can do tho due to elligibility issues, from the tape if seen it looks like hes not afraid to bang in post n get his hands dirty
Id love to see bayless but do we have any assests the blazers would want aside from picks?
