If you could take any player for a 3 year stretch, starting with the 99-00 season, who would you take and why?

Names that come to mind for me:

    Shaq: 00-02

    Duncan: anytime really

    Garnett: 02-05

    Kobe: same as Duncan

    McGrady: 02-04

    LeBron: last 3 years

No one really compared to him. He was pretty much unstoppable. The guy used to get doubled all the time and still throw down on people and draw the fouls. He was also still a monster on the boards at that time and doing an excellent job of blocking shots. Shot around 60% despite being the focus of team game plans. As great as he was, he did benefit from the extinction of the great center, but despite that he still produced.

I have to go with Shaq 00-02..

Then You have to put Lebron in there for 07-09..

In 2007 he carried the Worst starting lineup ever play in the NBA Finals…

Kobe is great but you cant go wrong with Tim Duncan. A coachable superstar who won his rings in a very difficult way. He dealt with winning it all, being knocked back down, and coming back again FOUR times.

     Where is Allen Iverson?

He was arguably the best guard in the league from ’99 to ’03 and was MVP in ’01.

I am gonna take A.I. because his style of play was so exciting.  After watching every game he played during that time span I wouldn’t of traded him for anybody in the league not named Shaq.

Iverson was as good as it got during that time period.

And Vince Carter is another name you are forgetting.

It’s who you would take not who you should take.  I would take Iverson regardless.

If I own the team I take Iverson, he sells tickets, jerseys, etc.

If I coach, I take Shaq no doubt. His mixture of size and skill was unmatched.

The ones I listed weren’t the only options. I didn’t list Iverson because he wasn’t off the top of my head like the others were. Should’ve been though.

Shaq… During that three year stretch, the only thing that could stop him was the free-throw line. And even though he wasn’t a good free-throw shooter, he put teams in the penalty by himself.

Clearly nobody remembers that Peja came 4th in MVP voting in 2004. Small-town heroes mean the world to small-town fans
