I am somewhat surprised by GM’s choice in the last question… Of all people, the majority picked Derek Fisher… Steve Nash or Jason Kidd were the ones that came into my mind… But I’m taken aback by Fisher though…

I’m not surprised that they picked Fisher. I think he’d be a great head coach. He’s a leader, great communicator and motivator. He’s someone you’d feel comfortable representing your organization. He’d be a great player’s coach, but also hold them accountable.

I also think Kurt Thomas, Antawn Jamison, Brian Cardinal, Jason Terry, Anthony Carter, Shane Battier (he could be a GM too), Luke Walton, and Juwan Howard could be on a coaching staff. JJ Reddick would be a great shooting coach.

Kevin Ollie, Bruce Bowen and Matt Harpring are players that are no longer in the NBA, but could be coaches as well.

I agree with your Shane Battier pick… He’s a vocal veteran who is a very reliable player on any team…

I think it’s interesting that a lot of great coaches, past and present, weren’t stars when they played.

    Phil Jackson..

and how ironic is it that some All-Star players who tried coaching didn’t have the same success: Wes Unseld is a perfect example…

I gotta say Tomjanovich might not have been a "super-star" but he was a five time all-star and was far more than just a role player.

The same applies to Jerry Sloan as well, not a super-star but made two all-star games and was the best player on the Bulls during the late 60s.
