Mr. BasketballParticipantFor all of the Blake Griffin doubters, he completely destroyed the Kings today. In the first quarter alone, he had 11 points and 9 rebounds on 4-4 shooting. He then finished off with 18 points and 13 rebounds on 7-7 shooting as he only played the 1st half of the game because they were running the kings out of their own building. So in 22 minutes, he had 18 points and 13 rebounds and did that on only 7 shots lol. He also had a sick put back dunk on Demarcus Cousins. Let me just say, he is definitely at full health and if he isn’t…thats really scary considering how dominant he was today. Look I know its just the preseason but he definitely looks like front runner for Rookie of the Year to me. I mean after that great game tuesday by John Wall, he then had an awful game today. Griffin’s first half today was just as good as Wall’s complete game tuesday. I’m not exaggerating: 21 points 9 assists vs. 18 points 13 rebounds 7-7 shooting.

rickyD510Participanttearing it up in a preseason game is as big of an accomplishment as being the worlds tallest midget…..nuff said

llperezdidnt see the game but stats look great. I hope he is the real deal i like watching him play. But Way too early to give either guy the rookie of the year favorite status based on pre-season.

Mr. BasketballParticipantthats funny cuz when john wall did well last game everyone seemed to care and some went as far as to say he will be the best point guard in the nba by 2nd season…yeah clearly there are a good number of hypocrites on here…

WizardofOzParticipantJohn Wall did not have a terrible game. I can tell you didn’t watch the Wizards play. Yeah, he got off to a bad start by shooting 0-9 from the field, but even then, he still had a big impact on the game. He had a lot of assist and was finding his teammates for open shots. And after he stared off 0-9, he made 5 of his next 7 shots. His stats were 12 points, 9 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Aren’t those the stats you want from your pass-first PG? Stop staring at the box score. Watch the game before you make an assesment on how somebody played.
As for Blake Griffin, I didn’t watch the game, but it sounds like he tore it up, but to say that he is the frontrunner for R.O.Y. after just one good preseason game is absurd. It’s way to early.

joecheck88Participanti think roy frontrunners in order are wall, griffin, cousins, and wes johnson. this is my gut feeling just on highlights, stats, and this sites opinions. wesley johnson is a darkhorse in my opinion, that man can shoot.

mj23mj23besteverParticipantive posted a couple times imo it will be a two horse race for the roy i think cousins will hit the rookie wall late in the year and slow off a little but still expect a solid 14 and 9 year out big dc

lalailaParticipantBlake was sick but is it really big suprise..if he is healthy there is no doubts he is going to be a star in the future(just a quesition bigger star or not than John and DMC)
but how about Aminu’s potential, today he was nice 16points showing he really can play some SF not only because of handles or couple nice assists but he improves his shooting for sure and in the same way he can play some PF too to get 8 rebounds playing with Blake and Chris and against DeMarcus means something i think.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI won’t declare him the frontrunner, but he’s my pick to win it. He’s not an ordinary rookie. He knows what to expect and spent last season studying the game, film and other players.
He looked dominate vs the Kings and when you consider it was only his second game in a year, you know there are great things to look forward to from him.

Toronto16ParticipantWho is a Blake Griffin doubter? I saw half the guys in this forum pick him to win Rookie of the year.

Mr. ChicagoParticipantAgreed, he is my front runner as well just based on experience. He sat behind an all-star center last year learning the nuisances of the game.
(Also, I didn’t watch either the Clips or Wizards pre-season games, just an opinion).
