Mr. 19134ParticipantI can’t fathom why this guy isn’t higher on draft boards. At the college level he can guard every position on the floor. Best suited as a forward he may be a tweener because his perimeter skill set screams small forward but his rebounding a shot bloking sream PF.
Im not too familiarly with NC States offense but he must think they have a plan for him choosing them over other prominent schools namely Kentuky,
But when you watch this guy can too on a courts its breathaking.
I’m now even gonna go the comparison route because I honestly can’t think of one right not and I’m tired of comparing people to Anthony Radolph.
But what do my fellow user think he compares to?
And even more how do you think NC State will use him?
And my last question what kind of numbers do you think he can put up?
And Where do you think Leslie goes in the draft.
I think he post averages of 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.70 blocks a game.
I think he may stay another year but if he comes out after this year he should thru a tremendous freshman season, and draw jopping combine numbers move into the top ten. With top 7 potential.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantHe’s like 6-8. I remember reading KG comparisons about this guy. I don’t see it.
However, I will say he is a top 10 pick. I think he should play move SF then PF because he is not tall enough to be a PF. I like the Thad Young comparison draftnet has for him.

Mr. 19134ParticipantMost of you already know what Leslie can do but just in case heres a refresher:
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 10:32am #408915

basedSERBParticipantwow… did not know this, he was a john wall teamate, that high school team must of been good as hell
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 10:38am #408916

Mr. 19134ParticipantWhen he goes to the combine he will be listed at 6’9 maybe even 6’10
Because is is like 6’7.5 almost 6’8 in sockes and has a 7’3 wingspan. Not to mention he got atleast a 37 inch vert.
I do think he is a Samll Forwad because he an handle the ball, pass, and has a nice pull up jumper. Plus he has the foot speed to guard most wingmen.
He plays the game with the passion of KG but is not that type of player.
Thad Young is a good comparison but Thad don’t have the required length to block as many shots as Leslie an, and Leslie is a better rebounder, dribbler and passer.
Thad Young is a much more polished product tho he can shoot at a higher percentage and has great footwook in the post and can inside with his array of crafty up and unders and unblockable hook shots.
What do you think his numbers look like this year at NC State and did he make a mistake by not going to Kentuky?

Mr. 19134ParticipantOh and Knicksboy once he bulks up he can play power forward because he’s a mismatch on offense and on defense he can become one of the best weakside shot blokers in the league due to his length and leaping ability.
I saw him as a player in the same mold of Josh Smith.

stanford hoopsThere’s no real difference between him and Darius miles

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantThere’s no real difference between him and Darius miles
Is that a good thing? Miles wasn’t a terrible player. Just never got it all together…
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:26am #408926
stanford hoopsDepends if he works on his game instead of just relying on his athletic ability
He can be between miles and Shawn marion
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:29am #408927
nascarforthedeadParticipantHe should have gone to Kentucky. Athletic player with length like him could’ve been shown off both on the perimeter and interior at UK. At State he will look good but his athleticism won’t shine as much as it should. He truly is one of the most athletic players I’ve ever seen.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:36am #408929
stanford hoopsWow. That you ever seen. You need to get out more
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:40am #408933
nascarforthedeadParticipantWatched him play in person a number of times and he is so fast, gets up so quick and high. He’s just flat out explosive. Watch more video of him.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:52am #408935
stanford hoopsI’ve watched him plenty of times. My other nephew Keith parham played for word of god. Like i said you gotta get out more. He’s athletic but I’ve seen many guys who have higher verts and who’s quicker that are more athletic then him
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:56am #408937
nascarforthedeadParticipantI appreciate you continuously telling me I have to get out more but I really don’t care what you have to say about that. I’ve seen tons of basketball talent and will say again that he is one of the most athletically gifted players I’ve seen. I don’t need you telling me to get out more because that’s just childish. Remember, I didn’t say "he’s the most athletic player I’ve seen" , he’s one of them though.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 11:57am #408939

JNixonParticipantI think at best he can be like Shawn Marion, but I think he will be like Thaddeus Young.
He’s athletic and he has raw skills and nice size for a SF at 6’8 210-215, but his quickness and athleticism would make him a mismatch at PF. He’s not polished yet, and he’s not really all that smart a player yet, and it’ll be interesting to see if he will try and show off his raw perimeter skills instead of being an athletic mismatch PF he’s currently best suited at. Him and Ryan Harrow should have some nice alley-oops and connections next year.
I expect like 11 or 12 ppg and 6 rpg from Leslie next year. Playing with a very good PF and polished player in Tracy Smith will inevitably make him less of a factor in Sidney Lowe’s offensive scheme, especially considering he’s not really the type who should have a bunch of plays run for him. Still, his impact should be decent.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 12:05pm #408945
canesboy6ParticipantHe will be just like Jamarrio Moon. Hella long athlete, but doesnt have the skills to make a difference on the perimeter and doesnt have the size to play inside.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 12:07pm #408946
stanford hoopsDon’t be so sensitive. Lol
anyway iggy thoses numbers sound resonable. I think he puts up at least 15poinys though. He’s pretty raw skill wise though. Mostly just a very good athlete at this point
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 12:54pm #408955
nascarforthedeadParticipanthaha fair enough, wont be sensitive. i see a player w crazy potential offensively and defensively although he is very raw right now and just think he made a mistake going to nc state. hopefully he develops his skills but right now im not sure that it will happen.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/03/2010 - 1:58pm #408982
Cardinal_FanParticipantI agree. Leslie is a stud!!!! I think he is a consistent jumpshot away from being an all-star caliber player. He has a nasty demeanor plays with passion an flair that will excite fans and get teammates pumped up as well. He has wut looks 2 be really good ball handling skills 4 a guy his size to go with great athleticism. He also has the potential 2 be a scary defender with his foot speed and shot blocking ability. Dont know if there is a true comparison at his point but i think he could develope in2 wut we all thought Josh Smith would be in the league. A high level nba player.

stanford hoopsJust like dmiles out of highschool. He’s a step below Josh smith in the athletic department

MkadozaParticipantHakim Warrick??
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/04/2010 - 2:24pm #409312
bigblackNbeautifulParticipantPlays the three? best suited for the 4. can shoot somewhat not a knock down shooter. Strong weakside blocker. A athletic ak with a joakim noah passion?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/04/2010 - 6:29pm #409363

Mr. 19134ParticipantHe is nothing like Darius Miles. Miles was a smooth wingman who could play the 2guard of the 3 spot. Never really could he play the 4.
Leslie plays more like Josh Smith, and whoever said he was less athletic then Josh Smith has no idea what you’re talking about . Leslie is faster and has ever bit the Vert Smith has.
What make Smith and Leslie so similar is their passing and shot blocking ability. He should average over 2 blocks a game easily in college and that skill should translate well to the pros.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/04/2010 - 6:32pm #409366

Mr. 19134ParticipantAnd who didn’t agree with the combine post I said, and that he don’t compare to Thad Young beause he don’t at all. That Young isn’t a good shot blocker and has actually footwork in the post but can’t pass, or dribble like Leslie can at his level.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/04/2010 - 6:46pm #409371
scoutguruParticipantI don’t know why everyone keeps putting negatives on ppl that post their comparisons. You guys make it seem like its an insult with some of the comparisons some of the ppl are making. It’s not like this guy is a no brainer kevin durant type prospect. His game, from the limited footage I have, doesn’t seem to be one that is clear cut ready for the nba. And those guys that he’s being compared to have carved out nice niches in the league. If he’s a shawn marion, that’ll be great, darius miles isn’t bad either, before the injuries. Just cause you guys see him play with a bunch of high schoolers, and he’s fresh in your minds, that doesn’t always mean he’ll pan out to be better than the comparisons or even reach the level of a comparison. These are all projections here guys. I like the thad young comparison, but thad has really worked hard on his game since leaving GT. Hopefully C.J.does the same. Its all about the work u put in…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/04/2010 - 6:52pm #409374

Mr. 19134ParticipantI am making a bet wit all of you guys now that CJ Leslie will look nothing like Darius Miles or Thad Young when you see him play at NC State the closest comparison is Josh Smith. Whoever don’t agree with that please post your forums names after this post so I can see who you phantom point pilfers are and call you out on it when Leslie proves you wrong. Darius Miles? Like he may look like him but he don’t play like him. And He looks or plays nothing like Thad Young. He is taller and longer then both and blocks more shots.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 5:29am #409438

PureshooterParticipantLeslie reminds me of Marvin Williams. About the same size with big upside, but it’s hard to tell how he will turn out at this point. He should have a great season at state with Harrow running the point. This has to be State’s best class in years.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 6:36am #409453

JNixonParticipantNot nearly as big or as good a shooter as Williams. Also not as fundamentally sound and smart.
Thaddeus Young or Shawn Marion are the best comparisons for Leslie IMO
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 8:51am #409476

kobyzParticipantyou don’t see a lot Tyrus Thomas in him?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 9:31am #409492
stanford hoopsi didnt add what i added last time i said darius miles.. minues the handles. you obviously didnt see josh smith in hs. he could play the 2,3,4 cj cant play the 2. josh was a ok three point shooter. c.j isnt. josh was stronger then c.j.. as a matter of fact the only comparable thing is athletic ability in which josh was a better athlete. and a better player
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 12:09pm #409533

Mr. 19134ParticipantI Do see a little Tyrus Thomas in him with the way he runs the floor and blocks shots.
And the more that I thought about it Darius Miles isn’t a bad comparison with Leslie being a better shot blocker and Miles being a better ball handler, but Leslie is pretty good at handling the ball himself.
I say Josh Smith because I think his numbers will resemble Josh Smith’s more then anybody. Josh was stronger, but Leslie is faster. And it’s a wash on who got the higher vertical. Smith’s vert at the combine was only like 38 which is high but nothing jaw dropping. Its higher then most tho i’m betting Leslies will be the same. And I did see Josh in high school and I didn’t think that he could play 2 guard well but he did run some point forward in HS. Leslie got the same sort of potential. Anthony Randolph is a good comparison too.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 12:20pm #409536
stanford hoopsi cant agree with the better shot blocker. dmiles used to block alooooooot of shots. he actually had a couple(blocks) triple doubles and once read he had a quad double. you gotta think about the hs version of miles not the nba version
i dont know josh vert but watching him in hs and even nba his dunks are jaw dropping with how high he gets.
to me c.j’s isnt jaw dropping and from what ive seen he might get 35inch. ill bet the house its not near 38 after hes meausred and his arm length is measured.
