The Splash DocParticipantWhen they made the Brown/Gasol/Crittenton trade for Pau Gasol do you think they would replace the rights to Marc Gasol with Andrew Bynum due to his durability.
Gasol-Gasol-Odom-Ratliff-Caracter
Bryant-Artest-Barnes-Ebanks
Fisher-Blake-Brown
do you take this Laker team or the one with Baby Gasol

Charlie SheenParticipantPersonally I’d take Marc Gasol and Pau Gasol inside only due to Bynum’s durability but if Bynum could play in 75 games a year then I’d probally keep Bynum

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIf they had gotten Marc they wouldn’t have Aretest..They got Artest becuz they felt they needed some toughness..Marc would’ve gave then that…the Grizzlies would’ve love getting Bynum…

The Splash DocParticipantWould they basically replace Bynum with Gasol and they would’ve gotten Artest anyway because Ariza wanted to get paid and Kobe and Odom really wanted Artest

SteroidParticipantI’m sure they would have definitely taken Gasol if they would have known Bynum would have been this injury prone. At least I would have. When Bynum plays he makes a good impact, but he is useless when he doesn’t play which is pretty often..

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantLOL Just kidding…Your the Truth…But for Real I’d take the Gasol Brothers and Odom…Throw in any veteran as the 4th Big and the Lakers are Golden..I honestly see Marc signing there when his deal is done in Memphis…He and Pau have always wanted to play together in the NBA..Withy the pick of Thabeet the Grizzles handcuffed them selves to him for at least the next few years( if they don’t wanna look foolish for Drafting him with the # 2 pick…Could have traded that or drafted Tyreke Evans who played at Memphis for his 1 and done college career)…Now I feel like they have to pick one or the other Zac or Marc Gasol…I would of course choose Marc and just try to move Randolph to a Contender…a team like The Spurs strike me as a good trade partner…Zac and Mike Conley for Tony Parker and Big man X…Tiago Splitter??? Any way I’d Keep Gasol over Randolph and would take him over Bynum…(durabilty, chemistry with Pau and over skillset for a C…

mikeyvthedonParticipantAs much as Bynum has been hurt, I do not think there is anyway I would have traded him for Marc Gasol. Still wouldn’t. Hindsight is 20/20 guys. I mean, Marc has been in the league for two years, putting up solid numbers and showing that he is not exactly "Pau Gasol’s Fat Little Brother". He is a very solid player, a big part of why the Grizz improved so much this past year, he has even shown some of the abilities that make Pau such a unique and respected big man. However, he also has limited athletic ability and defensive potential, both of which are nowhere near that of Pau, or Bynum. So, let’s think about the two years since Marc has been in the league? Yes, Bynum has been hurt, and his ability in the play-offs has been mediocre at best. But, THE LAKERS WON TWO RINGS. To say they would have done the same thing with Marc at the Center spot is possible, but I do not see it as a guarantee, especially this past year in the play-offs. Bynum’s length makes him an infinitely more potent defender, and I just think Bynum has a certain toughness. It is truly hard for me to see Marc Gasol being as valuable to the Lakers as Andrew Bynum, say whatever you want about health and numbers (which only aid Gasol due to health, but again, no gurantee he would have the same role on LA as he does in Memphis). All in all, I do not think I make a change in that trade whatsoever. Marc was an unknown quantity, many thought he might not make much of an impact in the NBA, but he indeed worked his butt off and has proved critics wrong (including myself). He is indeed a very solid big man, but why trade a player from a team that has won two titles? You can say to keep winning titles, but again, I say that it would be no guarantee that Marc would have won you those two titles or would help them to more thereafter.

DoubleNickelsDurr55ParticipantThe key here was to rid themselves of Kwame "I have a perminent pout on my face" Brown. That trade alone shows the NBA that Jerry West wants to be the GM of the Lakers and that Mitch better watch his back. Regardless of what could of happened. I like the possibilites with Bynum. He is 22 years old with a life time of basketball yet to be playd in the NBA. we have seen flashes of his potential and that alone makes me think they made the right move.
They are on the verge of a three peat. In todays game a possibility of a three peat shouldnt even be possible. Good move Lakers, well play’d sir’s. Oh and I am a Celtics fan.
