thought this was interesting. Here are each of the current 30 NBA squads biggest bust pickes of their franchise history. The picks are 100% bleacher reports, the comments are 100% my own.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/375297-busting-out-all-30-nba-teams-biggest-busts#page/1

hawks-shelden williams, 5th 2004(it blew my mind when this pick was announced a few weeks before the draft and williams canceled all his work outs for every other team, i 100% called this a bust)

celtics-michael smith, 13th 1989(never heard of him but apparently he was some 6-10 white cat who was supposed to be the next larry bird)

bobcats-adam morrison, 3rd 2004(injury or not, i think he would have busted. Even his good games his rookie year he would have like 1 good quarter and then struggle the rest the game. At least he has some rings)

bulls-marcus fizer, 4th 2000(injuries didnt help but this guy was a beast in college. Undersized pf for the loss)

cavs-desagana diop, 8th 2001(Diop, Kwame, Chandler, Curry, 2001 should alone be reason enough to endorse no more player straight out of highschool)

mavericks-samaki walker, 9th 1996(1996 is in my opinion the best draft ever and produced multiple all-stars and MVP’s. Samaki was not one of them to put it kindly)

nuggets-nikoloz tskitishvili, 5th 2002( this was a time when dirk was breaking out and drafting euros was the next big thing. I remeber reading that he was the white tracy mcgrady, lol)

pistons-darko milicic, 2nd 2003(a couple decent players went after him if you werent aware. I remeber they did a documentery before the draft where they showed how he had a poor upbringing and his family sold their only car for a cow so he could have milk and grow big(not joking) well it paid off becasue he is big if nothing else)

warriors-cyril baptiste, 3rd 1971(have never heard of him before this so no comment)

rockets-bryce drew, 16th 1998(the coaches son who became known in the ncaa tournament for his game winning three that is still shown every march to this day was a bit of a long shot. The rockets actually got drew, cuttino mobley, and michael dickerson all in that years draft, and then rocket charles barkely said it was drew who would become the star of the three, nope)

pacers-clark kellog, 8th 1982(this name only rings a bell due to his broadcasting. Im guessing thats not what the pacers drafted him for)

clippers-michael olowokandi, 1st 1998(what is there to say? He was big and had potential and is one of the reasons people tend to shutter at using a number 1 pick on “potential”)

lakers-brad holland, 14th 1979(never heard of him. But considering the other rookie they drafted that night, i think the lakers still scored an A+ in the evenings draft)

grizzlies-stromile swift, 2nd 2000( the second player on this list from the infamous 2000 draft. He was such a great athlete that certainly a team could expect he would develop things like muscle, bball iq, work ethic, and skills right? Right???)

heat-harold miner, 12th 1992( put aside the “baby jordan” nickname and the dunk contests trophys, and did this guy do anything in the NBA?)

bucks-marcus haislip, 13th 2002(many thought he had the tools to become a very solid nba player. Many were wrong. And thats all i have to say about that)

timberwolves-felton spencer, 6th 1990(he was big and put up just enough numbers to keep getting a new contract for a while but never living up to expectations. Not a good way for the wolves to start building their new franchise)

nets-ed obannon, 9th 1995(pains me to see ed on here He had just led the greatest college on earth to the national title and i remember very vividily the draft was held in toronto that year and the raptors with the 7th pick had the entire arena chanting for ed obannon. When damon stoudamire was announced the crowd boo’d so loud that by the time the noise died down stoudamire was the rookie of the year and ed obannon was on his way out of the league)

hornets-jr reid, 5th 1989(long solid role player career where he could even start a game from time to time. But thats not what you are hoping for when you draft in the top 10)

knicks-mike sweetney, 9th 2003(dominated college, but who could have imagined that an overweight, undersized, vertically challenged, defensive liablity big man would struggle in the nba?)

thunder-according to the article they are on their way to being a bust free team. Obviously bleacher report didnt include the seattle days or else im sure someone would be on here. But since the picks are not mine, we shall move on)

magic-fran vasquez, 11th 2005(almost immediately after the draft he signed a long term deal to stay in europe and said he had no idea when if ever he was coming over. So far, it looks like he will never step foot on an nba court. Talk about a wasted lottery pick)

76ers-shawn bradley, 2nd 1993(he was skinny as hell and hadnt played college ball in a few years as he was away on a mormon mission. But the scouts continuously posted videos of him palyong baseball, tennis and other trivial sports that 7-6 men were not supposed to be coordinated enough to do. So obviously he was gona dominate basketball. Shaq said it best in his autobiography when discussing shawn when he said the first time shawn hacked him shawn appologized the rest the game until shaq finally told him it was okay dont worry about it. Sounds like the type of guy you want manning the interior of your defense)

suns-william bedford, 6th 1986(another guy i have never heard of. Im sure he was a nice person though)

blazers-sam bowie, 2nd 1984(there was this pretty good sg picked right after him that will forever be synonomous with bowies name)

kings-pervis ellison, 1st 1989(“never nervous pervis” was later named “out of service pervis” as he was rarely healthy. On a side note, anyone else noticing a trend here with big men?)

spurs-alfrederick hughes, 14th 1985( i hate dissapointing you guys with no comment, but…)

raptors-rafael araujo, 8th 2004( another big man who was supposed to come in and be a difference maker. Hope he saved some of his rookie contract becasue i believe it was his last)

jazz-quincey lewis, 19th 1999(quincey was a terrific college player who was good at everything but excelled at nothing. Thats it, no punchline)

wizards-kwame brown, 1st 2001(i dont know about you guys, but everytime im playing pickup ball and i make a pass to someone and the ball bounces off their hands and right out of bounds, i think sweet, i’ve got a kwame brown on my team)

Clark Kellogg wasnt a bust..Injuries held him back he was playing at an allstar level….he average 20 & 10 in his rookie year..and almost got that his next 2 seasons..before injuries allowed him to play in 20 games the next 2 seasons which lead to his retirement…

Alot of these guys came out when certain drafts had lack of talent which allowed them to go higher than they might had if the draft was stocked…

I knew Shelden Williams would never be a allstar..i thought he’ll be an old school player in the mold of Paul Silas that would provide 8 boards and score in the post..but he looks lost…The success of Boozer helped elavate Williams stock…

I agree most of them underacheived but i wont consider anyone a bust who was drafted lower than 10th. they have guys listed dafted at number 19 a bust? thats no bust thats a bad pick. a top 5 pick is a bust. top 10 debatable. over ten?? I dont consider that a bust

since these werent my picks, i didnt do any research. But since you guys seem to disagree, i just looked up the twolves draft history, and of all their top 10 picks, felton spencer was easily the worst of them, so you cant aruge about that one.

Shawn Bradly can’t be called a complete bust, he was a good shotblocker, Kiki Vandeweghe was way worse, he didn’t even play for the team

I remember in his second or third season in Detroit there was a story on Darko that mentioned the contract his parents agreed to with his team in Serbia. Pretty much , if i remember this right, if he wanted to be drafted and come to the NBA anytime soon (it was a crazy long contract) he would have to enter that year.

Based on hype, lack of production, injury proneness and who was left in that draft… Jonathan Bender has to be considered a bigger bust than Clark Kellog. That seems like a name thrown in there for name sake.

The Sonics had quite a bnch of busts before Durant – Saer Sene, Robert Swift, Nick Collison, Radmanovic – quite a poor draft history
