You can play that game with many teams. If you look at the draft picks from  2002 to present  you will find many players that the Knicks should have drafted but didn’t.   

Detroit Pistons

2003: Darko over Wade

2004: Traded Tony Allen pick when Kevin Martin was available

2005: Maxiell over Ellis/David Lee

2006: Traded Pick, Boston got Rondo with it

2007: Rodney Stuckey

2009:Austin Daye over Collison

Through these speculations, the Pistons could have accumulated the most talented backcourt in the NBA.

PG: Monta Ellis, Rajon Rondo, Darren Collison?

SG: Dwayne Wade, Kevin Martin, Rodney Stuckey

SF: Tayshuan Prince, Richard Hamiliton

PF: David Lee, Greg Monroe, Charlie Villaneuava

C: Ben Wallace, Chris Wilcox

Back-Court possibilities:

Amare Stoudamire, David West, Andrew Bynum, Al Jefferson, Carl Landry, Brook Lopez, Greg Monroe

Front-Court possibilities:

 im not so sure that jefferson, butler and josh would had developed quite as well if they had all played together in cleveland from the get go

 GSW could of had both KG and Kobe… smdh

Part of the reason why LeBron left was the poor draft choices made by Cleveland… PARTICULARLY the 10th pick in the 2004 draft which was a complete waste wherein they could’ve drafted Josh Smith or JR Smith to be LeBron’s sidekick… Unlike KD who was surrounded by really talented players and a bunch of sidekicks in Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook, LeBron didn’t have fellow young guns to compete with… He got stuck with guys like Larry Hughes who wasn’t the same player as he was with the Wizards… Big Z who was never getting any younger… and Daniel Gibson who I admit is an OK player but too one-dimensional to be a real threat for the playoffs despite doing wonders in 2007… Michael Jordan needed Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant/Dennis Rodman by his side to be truly successful…

when u think about this none of this is possible… cuz if they have drafted the players that u are saying they would have had a better record and then would not have been the worst team in the league so cleveland would never have been able to get lebron…

Yeah, I agree with you about the Pistons, Reke_DMC. The Pistons won a championship during that run, but they missed some real opportunties to make their team much better talent wise. The Pistons mainly picked Darko because they had already filled those spots for SG and SF. Little did they know that Wade would rival Kobe as the best SG in the league years down the line and Anthony would be the second best SF later on too. Also, I think the main reason why they made those picks or in retrospect, bad picks, is because of chemistry too. They wanted to keep the players they had happy, and they wanted the same exact team in place to ride the momentum they had as a team as long as possible. If they would have picked up Wade or Melo, they would have won another ring (the one they lost against the spurs), and they would have made it to another final too at the least. With all of that being said, those Pistons were one of the best "teams" this decade. GMs need to stop overthinking shit, and just start picking the best player on the board over need especially when that need prospect is suspect..

Should I really do the Knicks one? Too much pain for me…
