Tyreke and DeMarcus

I love Cousins more than anyone and Tyreke is a beast too but its a little too much to ask of anyone to be Kobe/Shaq….Cousins would have to be the best big man in the league and Evans in the top 2 or 3 backcourt players…

they will be a great duo but in the era of joining forces i can see Cousins ditching the kings and teaming up with john wall. also as a kings fan i dont like how they are giving tyreke some what preferential treatment like letting him get his own accolades before the overall goal of winning and they benched spencer hawes compalining about the lineup changes last year and tyreke pretty much said the same thing but the kings didnt acknowledge it. but in other kings news hassan gained 25 lbs of muscle.

 No I love Cousins more and I had the to endure the painful tragedy of watching my team pass on him with the 2nd pick.  Then it just got more painful when he’s hitting game winning mini hooks after calling for the ball.

RickyD how good can Spencer Hawes be for the Sixers?  Since you watched him play more, I remember the Sixers tried to move up on draft day to get him, but then  Thad Young fell into our laps.

YouTube Hassan Whiteside at the Kings workout before the draft being asked if he met any of the Kings players and he said."um, um, yeah dey real funny…which one?….umm umm a Spanish guy I forget his name…" haha

I love Whiteside tho and after watching that interview I realize why he fell in the draft.  Then I watched him punt balls into the second row in the summer league and realized how stupid some gm’s are.   Him and Deandre Jordan both fell victim to over analyzation due to Synergy sports.  

nobody loves Cousins more than me…..I will wager my balls on it….

 Oh and Reke and Cousins are gonna bully the league.  They really need a deep threat.  And I wish they didn’t have Thompson or Landy cuz I wanna see Cousins and Whiteside play together more.  They seem like they’re gonna be everything Curry and Chandler werent together.  

I actually think Josh Shelby fits their current team.  And they should try to trade for Babbitt or Henry.  The Blazers love big men, I’m sure they could talk them into taking one of their bigs for Babbitt, and possibly even Bayless could I think he fits the Kings system well too.

Tyreke is not Dr. Evil he doesn’t need a mini me…..he needs a shooter to kick to….

 Thanks Ricky D I was thinking about the same thing.  I don’t see any reason he can’t develop into a Chris Kamen like player.  I know thats very optimistic but he got all the tools too, not to mention he’s a better shooter now, then Kamen ever will be.  And another thing that really intrigues me about Hawes is his passing ability.  Doug Collins said that in the pickup games the players loved playing with him because of his court vision and passing ability.  Could would have the next Vlade?

and Midwestbbscout Reke is still a more of a ball dominant shooting guard similar to Wade, then he is a point guard.  Shelby enables Reke to use his size to guard the opposing shooting guards while Shelby guards the PG.  Not to mention Shelby is a perfect fit because he can play on ball or off ball.  And Shelby can shoot too so Reke will be able to kick it out to him.  This will really benefit Reke because he won’t have to do all the ball handling duties and will have another player who can initiate the offense and call plays for Reke.  And when Reke wants the ball in his hands Shelby can play off ball and has catch and shoot potential.  

While I like Udrih and think he’s a very efficient player, his ceiling is nowhere near Shelby’s.  

livin in a town with one sports team isnt that great, gotta drive 2 hours to see any other major sporting events, i would love to live in a town with mlb, nba, and nfl, but as long as tyreke and demarcus stay out of trouble they will be fine, kings need shooters and are still probably a year away, but the way the talent looks for this next draft, picking in the lottery wouldnt be terrible thing

The Kings don’t have a lot of pressure on themselves this season as most people assume they will be lottery again and so it’s more about building on Evans’s success from last year and getting Cousins fitted into the team and continuing to gel after the Martin trade and getting in Dalambert.

Moving Martin showed they had total faith in Tyreke and allows him to play at SG with Udrich being a capeable ball carrier at PG and Tyreke being able to run the point if required. Adding Dalambert gives Cousins a year to develop and Dalambert can help to tutor Cousins and Whiteside. Moving Hawes allowed the frontcourt to settle down long term as Dalambert may move on next summer and with Landry and Thompson playing at PF and Cousins and Whiteside at C then this would be a good blend going forward. Also Whiteside if he does live up to his initial hype could be a draft bargain and if you had him and Cousins on court together down the stretch then you have a huge double defensive presence.

Ideally this year Sacramento win more games but maybe their lottery balls come up so they could grab a young PG who they could develop behind Udrich for a year or they get Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones who could upgrade their SF position long term. Greene and Casspi are both good SF prospects but might be better suited to a 6th man type role and Jones gives SF/PF options and Barnes gives SG/SF options with Evans playing some point so Coach Westphal would have options to give all his core roster playing time.

I’d be slightly surprised if the Kings went for a pure frontcourter in next year’s draft but with Landry being an FA then a lot could depend on how the young bigs develop and if Dalambert did move on then maybe a big who complimented the current bigs might be considered. I’d say maybe Motiejunas rather than Sullinger for example.

Philly moved Dalambert’s big expiring deal and have freed up their C position for Hawes, Speights, Brackins etc to compete for minutes. I fully agree that Doug Turner will help the young guys to develop and Tony Battie will be a good mentor for the younger bigs. I’d suggest that Hawes is a better passer than Kaman will ever be, Kaman is a very good C but his basketball IQ has never been great and if Hawes is a good a passer for a guy his size as has been suggested then he will probably be more a finesse C than Kaman will ever be.

I really, really hope they gel.  Arco arena needs to be loud again.

Can’t say I agree with gms over analyizing by passing on Deandre Jordan.  So far he’s proven fit where he was drafted

 No doubt they are a talented young duo, but to say at worst they are two hall of famers and each probably in the top 5 in their position in the middle part of their careers as opposed to their younger more athletic days?  

They won 20 some games last year and although I don’t doubt the young talent on their roster they’re gonna need a win count in the high 40’s to make the playoffs in the west.  a 20+ game swing because of D-Cuz? nope, but IMO I think they could post win totals in the mid 30’s and become relevant again.
