Mr. 19134ParticipantI would go in my pants if the Sixers pulled off a trade for Paul and Anthony. But the Hornets wouldn’t do that deal because there are too many years left in Brands contract. I don’t think this trade is that bad tho.

Mr. 19134ParticipantWhy do people think Elton Brand is useless? Elton Brand is overpaid but far from useless. Last season he averaged 13, 6, 1 steal, 1 block and played very good man to man defense. He played out his mind the one game against the Magic and actually owned Dwight Howard. And he was fighting thru injuries but still managed 76 games. This season he is completely healthy and just reported to camp 15 pounds lighter then last year. This was his first off season in 3 years where he didn’t have to do any rehabbing. Brand is still only 30 expect more production from his this year with a coach that actually knows what he’s doing. Eddie Jordan scrapped his Princeton offense half way thru the season. After that if the Sixers didn’t score on a fast break, then it was Iggy or one of the other guards going Iso while everybody else hoped to get a rebound.

Mr. 19134ParticipantBut Xavier your are right that trade makes no sense for the Hornets unless they were to get Turner and Nene puts up worse numbers then Brand he only averaged 11 points and 6 rebounds last year playing more minutes but people will swear he’s worth something.
The Sixers actually got enough talent to trade to get both of these players but Turner would with out a doubt have to be involved. I would trade everybody on the team to get Melo and CP3 and just sign a bunch of D leaguers and bet we still get an 7th seed in the East.

NYK2010ParticipantHornets move Okafor’s contracts which has 4 years left for Brand who has 3 left and Nene would probably opt out after this year for a long term deal. Nuggets move Melo, JR Smith, Anderson but getting back Iggy, Okafor, Kapono, Young they’ll be taking back a lot of salary and don’t have enough big men to be an elite team.
Great trade for Philly, what draft picks are moved in this trade?
