Eddy Curry reported to camp weighing 325 pounds, according to a person in the organization.
Curry has reportedly gained 20 pounds since April.
When asked if Curry was already behind, head coach Mike D’Antoni said, “Well, yeah.”

creepingdefParticipantI think it’s fitting he has the name of a food for his last name.

llperezthey had a reality show called Chicago Preps that followed curry and a few other highschool players around from chiicago. And the people then were getting on him about his eating habits. I remember an episode where he had like 4 full size steaks right before a game and the other guys were talking about how thats not gonna help him and he was like naw i need my energy and im doing fine anyways.

durantula83ParticipantTalking about wasted talent… If he had the same hunger for basketball as for food then he would have been a superstar.

HitsterParticipantWhen it was said last season that Eddy would never get back to his draft weight of 301lbs or to his NBA listed weight, I thought he was probably nearer 350lbs. But I cannot see him making rotation with the Knicks having added STAT, Misgov, Randolph, Turiaf who can fill the frontcourt minutes and with Mike D’Antoni going to be playing an uptempo system as usual I assume.
The only thing that is probably stopping the Knicks waiving Curry is that he may still have some trade value but if he is traded then surely whoever gets him will look to buy him out ASAP.

durantula83Participant
I got a feeling Eddy spends more time in fast food joints and tattoo parlors than in the gym.

Toronto16ParticipantSafe to say his NBA career is just about over, yes?

meisi4Participantokay thats not really the surprise news of the day right?
its a shame that he could be at least a top 3 offensive center in the league and see him only being top 3 in body fat and weight…

McDunkinThis isn’t news. Dude has heart problems and still orders the 40 piece McNuggets.
Eddy was, is, and will always be overweight.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think his carreer is over and sadly to say, he probably does not still have too much o that money that he was paid.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWondering if Eddy Curry would come to camp overweight was rhetorical.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/27/2010 - 6:25am #406800

PlatypusParticipantIs anyone actually suprised?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/27/2010 - 6:51am #406806
bkballerParticipantpathetic… the guy cost the Knicks franchise so much its unbelievable. If not for him the knicks would have had enough for 3 maxes this summer while still keeping Gallo, Chandler, Douglas and Walker. Or they would never have to give up those picks and easily trade for Melo. Or if he stayed in shape he could have been a top 5-6 center in the NBA…. so many possibilties but that lazy slob keeps spitting on the franchise.

JNixonParticipantLMAO @ McDunkin on this thread.
But damn. I hate it when people have talent but let something like eating or off-court legal problems ruin them. It can be avoided if you really love your life. Sometimes I wish that I could have NBA-level talent, I wouldn’t EVER let temptation stop me. It’s sad.

butidonthavemoneyEddy Curry? Overweight?
There must be some mistake.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/27/2010 - 8:40am #406820

MagikKnickParticipantHonestly, Seriously…This would be news-worthy if the title read "Eddy Curry Comes To Camp In Shape"
0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/27/2010 - 8:41am #406821
NYK2010ParticipantIts not eating its being lazy not working out, team should be allowed to suspend him w/out pay for a while if he’s not in shape. Some football players are bigger than him but still able to move up and down the field and they practice too.

Lotto StudParticipantEddy Curry=Terrance Cody of the NBA

sheltwon3ParticipantI know Knicks probably wish they included huge weight clauses in his contract.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/28/2010 - 12:07pm #407182
bobbybParticipanta weight clause wouldnt fly with players union. it wouldnt even fly with police unions, how stupid is that they take a physical text when they start but if they gain 80lbs in 5 years they dont get let go. how stupid.

0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/28/2010 - 1:11pm #407200
billykParticipantYou would think to be a professional athlete you SHOULD have a clause in your contract that you should report to camp in reasonable shape…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/28/2010 - 2:17pm #407222

GrandmamaParticipantHas Big Eddy ever been in shape? The only thing he got paid to do last year was eat, he succeeded with that
0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/29/2010 - 4:22am #407379

PureshooterParticipantThe headline should be "Eddy Curry comes to Overweight Camp". Get that man on a treadmill. Eat a vegetable. Something!!
Thousands of Americans every year trim down and get in better shape without any sort of financial incentive, but this guy is a happy meal away from being out of the league and comes to camp overweight? Come on.
