mikeyvthedonParticipantAs much as Nellie had a few exciting seasons as a basketball coach, I feel he was always incredibly set in his ways and at times held players back. He seemed to constantly be deconstructing teams, never made the NBA Finals as a coach. So, while Nellie is known as a coaching great and has an impressive win-loss record over his career (mostly from his days with the Bucks and last few years with the Mavs). Play-off win loss record was less than impressive though. I think the Warriors are indeed ready for a change and need some new blood. They are a team still rebuilding, even with the addition of David Lee, and hopefully this new coach can build a competitive basketball team that can compete in many different facets. Defense never seemed to be Nellie’s teams strong stance, and I think building his shot happy teams with skinny running bigs might not have been the best plan. Best of luck to the new Warriors coach and hopefully the team will build around the fantastic talent that is Stephen Curry, who has the makings of a bonafide star.

WizardofOzParticipantI always that Nelson was an OVERRATED head coach. He never developed young talent well and lately, you could just see by looking at him that he had lost his passion for coaching.

omphalosParticipantCheers Jnix.
All I can say is, thank god! This guy has made the Warriors a joke around the L. Not sure how I feel about hiring his assistant but any change has got to be for the better, let’s hope they play some D now.

BasterdInABasketParticipantyeah not ideal timing for a new coach but it wasnt going to happen until there was a new GM. At least its before camp opens. That leaves Monta as the only piece that needs to be moved

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI think that the reason it was so late was because of the sale of the Warriors.. IDK if they have been sold yet or not but if they havent, it must be apparent that the guy buying the team doesnt want Nelson there.. Personally, I am okay with them looking another direction. I just hope that who ever takes over, realizes the best way to move forward is to focus on the growth of Curry and Lee.. Monta is a great scorer but I dont think that he can lead a team.. I am not calling for his head but he needs to be used similar to the way the Bulls used Gordon and kind of like the Bucks used Salmons.. Use him to get you 20-25 points but dont run the team through him..
So who is in line to take over?? Maybe JVG??

The8thDeadlySinParticipantDefensive minded?? How does this current team translate?? I mean I kind of feel like the GM knew this was coming because he traded Cory and let go of Toliver and Morrow, all guys who dont defend, and signed guys like Wright, Amoundson, and Udoh, who all defend… Hmm.. Seem a little fishy??

SmooveKRYPTParticipantIts been clear for over a year now that he was on his way out. I guess they were just letting him break the wins record, but there was no way he was coming back this season.
Too bad Tom Izzo didn’t take the Cavs job…Byron Scott would’ve been great here!
