The Nuggets are losing their reluctance to trade Carmelo Anthony, according to sources familiar with the thinking of the front office.

The Nuggets still aren’t aggressively shopping Anthony and haven’t withdrawn their longstanding offer of a contract extension, but numerous sources told ESPN.com that Denver officials have in recent days let other teams know for the first time that they will listen to pitches after previously resisting such discussions.

“I’m not sure how soon, but I do think they’re going to trade him [between now and February],” said one rival GM.

Said another source briefed on Denver’s plans: “There’s no doubt they are working on it. Eventually they’re going to pull the trigger.”

The Nuggets, during GM Masai Ujiri’s first two weeks in the office, consistently told teams calling to register trade interest in Anthony that they weren’t ready to discuss the subject.

There is no clear frontrunner at the moment.

The source said that a trade could materialize quickly enough that Anthony “might never wear a Nuggets uniform again.”

The Nuggets need to do something becuz Kenyon Martin & JR Smith will be free agents at the end of the season..
Nene can opt..The Nuggets have to pay only 4 million dollars of Billups salary,if he’s waived before the start of the 2011-2012 season..Trading Carmelo won’t be easy..
Becuz as we have seen ..You can never get fair value ,when you trade a superstar…

LMAO!! Dats exactly what i’m saying..

With the core of the team becoming free agents or opting out..

They should trade him,if he keeps asking for a trade..

if melo goes..they should start cleaning house.
i dont think they’re be willing to pay a 35 year old billups over 10 million dollars a year..
and kenyon martin cant stay healthy..

but what team will be willing to make a trade if they haven’t gotten assurance melo will sign an extension with them?

Aw on espn then read on hoopshype that he said he’s willing to sign a extension with the knicks nets bulls or a souther California team(clippers/kings my guess). With the nets having the most to offer that the nuggets want whic is favors Troy and one or two draft picks. (I think twilliams as well. The big thing the nuggets seem to want are draft pick(s)

Who’ll be their PG and future four…and they can just try to sign him and keep all the pieces they have in place now…Murphy’s huge expiring deal should net him and then Murphy can just resign for the title run with their MLE…The Blazers have the pieces to get a deal done IMO without giving up a fringe all star point guard and future PF stud and PICKS…WTF ..that’s alot to give for a guy that may not sign anyway…

Real GM has been full of crap when it comes to the Melo freeangecy/trade ordeal. How many times have they changed their stance and said, “these teams are the frontrunners and are looking close to a deal,” then saying “Nuggets dont want to give him away,” then” we might never see Melo again in a Nuggets jersey because New Jersey are the frontrunners.”

Usually they are really good with updates, but they have been awful with Melo’s status updates. Pick a stance realgm, don’t buy into every single smokescreen.
