RUDEBOY_Participant1.Byron Scott..Scott is a rebuilder and winner..He turned around the Nets and Hornets.
Maybe he can turn the Cavs around.
But the Nets & Hornets had more talent then these Cavs..2.The Assets to make a move.
a.JJ Hickson is their biggest and best asset teams would love to try and pry him away…
b.The Cavs aquired a 14.5 million dollar trade exception fo Lebron James.
c.They have the expiring contracts of Jamario Moon & Anthony Parker..
d.They can trade Jamison & Williams 2 vets that could provide scoring for a team trying to make a playoff run..3.JJ Hickson..Hickson continues to improve..But he’s not the kind of player you can build around..But when ever a trade is discussed he’s the 1st Cavs player teams ask about..
4.New coach,New Offense..Brown failed to put his players in position to succeed..And he wasn’t a very creative offensive minded coach..Scott has said he plans to use a more up-tempo offense..And try to design the offense around a player’s strength..
5..HomeTown Pride..No city has experienced as many heartaches as Cleveland have..
Cleveland is also a tough city..Despite all the heartbreaks..They’ve survive..And will continue to survive..While they wait on their next Champion….0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/18/2010 - 4:22am #403741

mgreener_34ParticipantHickson is a Paul Milsap at best, I don’t see much promise in a franchise that has Hickson as their “biggest and best asset “. I hope the Cavs are as bad as everyone thinks, just so they can restart fresh and get a high pick.

TC_42ParticipantYes, but they will still wallow in “Bolivia” for awhile until the next LeBron-type player falls into their lap.

RichardNixonParticipantMilsap is a much better rebounder. Hickson cannot create offense for himself, and he isn’t an imposing force on D. Maybe a homeless man’s Boozer

TyroberParticipantthe reason JJ Hickson was the first player teams asked about in trades is because the players they were targeting with Amare and Jamison. There is absolutely no way on earth the Cavs trade away Hickson now. He isnt going to be an allstar or anything but he is going to be a very solid PF for many years to come. I think Jamison will be gone by the deadline though. There just isnt any need to keep him. Its obvious the cavs arent winning a champsion this year or within the next 5years and thats just how it is. There just simple isnt a need to keep Jamison at this point. I like Mo Williams and I would trade him if it meant getting back from good young talent. I think he is a good PG and he really isnt that expensive. I would only trade him if he wanted to be traded otherwise I think Williams stays in Cleveland.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantHickson is much more athletic than Milsap.. Also, I think that Milsap is is lik 6’7 and Hickson is a lil taller than Lebron.. So like 6’9.. Hickson moves better but doesnt rebound as well. Milsap is the kind of player that can play for any team but Hickson has to have the right players around him..

JoeWolf1I think they need to trade Jamison, to me he just doesn’t make as much sense on that team anymore. He can still probably drop 20 and 9 next year, but at this point in Cav’s basketball he’s just the difference between 25 or 30 wins this year, which isn’t going to do anything for ticket sales or the playoff race . He is getting old, but he’s still good enough they could get a draft pick or a younger guy with some upside for him. I think Jamison is thier biggest asset, because of his trade value and the fact he is expendable.
Hickson has the most potential as far as young players on that team, I like mcgreener_34 saying he is a Paul Milsap, not because their games are identical, but I could see him being a 15 and 8 or 9 PF which is something they need to hold on to.
Also, anyone know much about Christian Eyenya? Is he going to be a guy who makes some impact this season or next?

JNixonParticipantEyenga will see limited time as a back-end rotation player. He’s very athletic and good in transition, and a decent spot-up shooter, but everything else about him is below average at best. He has defensive potential, but right now he’s not there on that end. He’s a long-term guy probably, if the Cavs develop him the right way he has role-player potential.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIDK how good he is but he is an athlete…

JoeWolf1Dude has ups. Would you say something like a best case Mikeal Peitrus worst case one of the Graham brothers?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/18/2010 - 7:08am #403772

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI feel like he is bulkier than Peitrus but yea, that sounds okay I guess.. I cant say anything for sure because I have never really watched him play.. He can jump though!
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/18/2010 - 7:10am #403775

JNixonParticipantPietrus is probably his upside. Yes.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantEyenga is a great athlete ..but his basketball IQ is average..
Byron Scott said he plans to use an up-tempo style with the Cavs..
That should hide the fact that Eyenga have too many limitations in his game…
He wont do much this year…
If i had to compare him to someone it’ll be Shannon Brown..0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/18/2010 - 7:13am #403778

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIs Danny Green going to get to play this year with Moon and Jamison playing the 3??
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/18/2010 - 10:03am #403800
bkballerParticipantCavs are not only one of the worst teams in the NBA next season, they also have the roughest road back to relevance and the least potential. Teams like the Raptors at least have had some early first round picks in the past 5-6 years so they have young talent in Derozan, Bargs, Davis etc. so at least there is some bright spots there. The Cavs have JJ Hickson (nothing special), Eyenga (unknown and most likely not to good either) and……………
its going to be a long decade for the Cavs and their fans.

Mr.Knick 32Participantb.The Cavs aquired a 14.5 million dollar trade exception fo Lebron James.
Really people are overrating the trade exception. These rarely used in huge deals for game changers. Even for like above average players.
More TE expire then are completely used
