I’d really like to see the demographics of who voted, the fact that the top 6 are all black is kind of fishy.

Tongue-Out-Like-23Participantchurchboy, don’t try to make it seem racist.. the fact that 90% of great athletes are african american has something to do with it.. odds are the list of going to provide only african americans.

MelParticipantI still can’t get over the Mike Vick thing. Yes i understand what he was terrible and can’t be condoned but TWO years in jail!!!! That’s ridiculous.
How backwards is the system. I guess he would have been better off running someone over in his rolls royce, drunk, and drive away.
I forget his name but a football player did that and didnt get the time or punishment or crucifixion Vick got.

GrandmamaParticipantThe fact that race came to mind when you read that article says something about your state of mind…obviously people hate Lebron, Kobe, TO….they are hated for who they are, what they’ve done, and how they act…not b/c they’re black.
If Barry Bonds was still playing he would be atop the list because he was an asshole to everyone and thought he was a God (I guess he was God for a 5 or 6 year stretch), he wouldn’t be atop the list because he was black though. It would be because of who he was.
I think it’s ridiculous that Tiger and Ochocinco are on the list. First of all on Tiger’s behalf, there are a lot worse crimes than adultery. I would say at least 50% of couples have either cheated on each other or had affairs, so to scrutinize someone for something that happens so frequently is ridiculous. Does Tiger look like a bad guy? Yeah he looks like a bad guy/husband, but to go as far as to “hate” the guy for getting his on the side is crazy. I’m sure any vote he received is via a female.
In Ochocinco’s case, I’m not even sure why he is hated at all? He is more of a comedian to me, and when it comes to football he puts in 110% into everything he does. He isn’t a problem off the field, so why would you hate Ochocinco? People are going to hate the guy because he likes to have a good time with his profession and opens his mouth from time to time? Give me a break. When it comes to football he plays.

Tongue-Out-Like-23Participant1 thing people hate is cockiness and success, that’s the ONLY reason T.O. and Ochocinco are hated.
Because of their success and cockiness on and off the field. Commercials, endorsements, reality shows. All that.
Can’t wait to see how much criticism the Bengals will receive. SMH.

llperezi have zero hate for ochocinco so a little surprised he’s on there. I never liked owens especially since his niner days when he was telling the media that jeff garcia was in the closet, but recently he has been kinda quiet so i dont think much about him. Im rooting against woods just becasue he always had that whole smug my shit dont stink thing going on then it turned out that not only did he cheat(i believe many athletes do) but that he was flying girls around the country and hitting pornstars and took cheating to a whole new level, made him look dumb. Vick to me is the most hated. He tortured helpless animals and held their heads under water and electrocuted them for amusement. As a dog lover and owner of a pit bull, he is complete garbage in my book.

JoeWolf1All these guys are high profile players, I’d be willing to bet JJ Reddick and Psycho T are among the most hated athletes in basketball, but they’re role players now so people don’t care as much about them. If this poll came out while either one were a senior in college I bet they’d be there. People hate Kobe because he torches their home team for 30 everytime for the past 13 years. You don’t hate a guy as much when he comes off the bench for 8 pts when the Pacers come to town.

andxxxParticipantI know what Vick did was wrong, but after spending about two years in jail and with working with Tony dungy trying to change his life around. You still consider him garbage? If he did something personal in your life or actually killed other ppl, but after the time that has passed I don’t understand how you can still consider a man garbage even if he is trying to turn his life around

llperezof course he is trying to turn his life around. BUt its not like he made a mistake. A mistake is when you dont mean to hurt someone but you are careless. He delibertaly torured dogs. Maybe i have more of a soft spot for dogs. I own 4 right now and they are truly helpless animals that rely on people to take care of them. Im not saying he should still be in jail or held out of football, but why should i ever root for him? And of course every single person who goes to jail and losses millions and has their futre career in jeopardy tries to "change". Thats not noble, thats just called being a smart person.

andxxxParticipantI’m not saying you should root for him, but I don’t like how some ppl still call him a scumbag or anything that implies he is less than human. I don’t condone anything he did, but after finding out he was first exposed to it at 7 years old and it was kind of common in the area he lived in. I understand why the actions he did to dogs did not bother him as much as the average person when first exposed to that type of violence.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI have a legit question…
Roethlisberger got accused of rape not once, but twice. He wasn’t found guilty, etc, but still… Why isn’t he criticized and looked down upon as much as Kobe? Kobe was found innocent as well, but people talk about him like he was found guilty.

andxxxParticipantYeah I dont get the deal with that, but I hate how in both basketball and football they tend to say for white players if they’re not athletic they have a high I.Q or in football when a black quarterbacks throws picks a lot they’re inaccurate and have a low I.Q but with quarterbacks like favre and cutler they are said to have a gunslinger mentality. Also when there’s a brawl in baseball or hockey its just part of the game, but in basketball its considered a thug’s league and stuff like that.
The double standard is not as simple as black and white, but it’s noticeable at times

llperezi just read a quick story on ben’s second situation from this past off-season. Apparently he and the girl were hanging out all night drinking and they went to the bathroom and had sex. She says she told him it wasnt right and he said it was and that was pretty much the end of her saying no. She also was the one who told prosecutors she didnt want to press charges and wanted the case dropped. Im not a ben fan and i think he showed poor judgement, but similar to the kobe case i think it is hard to call it rape. I think one reason people might view it differently then the kobe case is becasue kobe’s accuser siad she was crying and reapeatedly said no and that he held her down by sqeezing her kneck. Ben’s situation sounds more like date rape if anything becasue she was too drunk to really know what was going on.

I think it really depends on the sport. Football has the image of being a reasonably tough league, and has a better image because of it. Thats why you see players like Marvin Harrison get off with murder. Who remembers that Ray Lewis was charged with murder? Those are big names and you never really heard about it.

llperezas for the stalworth thing, im pretty sure he didnt drive away. Also, from all eye witness accounts, he was driving fine and the guy jumped out in front him at a non cross walk section of the street and stallworth while legally drunk did not seem overly impaired. Trust me, he would have served real serious time if he had been drunk driving carelessly and ran someone over and then sped off.
As for the ray lewis thing, i believe he was charged with accomplice to murder becasue he was in the car and drove away with his friends who committed the murder. But he never actually did anything and he was very open with investigators telling them what his friends did.

sheltwon3ParticipantIn this world you will noticed that some people can basically get away with murder while other can got to jail and be crucified by the media for a Jaywalking ticket of for being a so called Jerk. They almost wanted to make Lebron the Anti- Christ because he made a decision. Lebron may have a flawless police history yet a lot of people hate this guy guts. There are players that were criminals who have not gotten this hate. Some of this is a money thing and some of it is be careful who you piss off.

PureshooterParticipantI think the only thing this list tells you is that if you’re famous with a bad rep, you’ll be one of the most hated. It really has little to do with what you’ve done.
Lebron is hated because he made the Heat a good team and acts cocky and arrogant. That should tell you all you need to know about the list.
