don042488ParticipantIt has been reported LaMarcus Aldridge bulked up to 260 pounds this Summer and is working hard on adding new dimensions to his game, for next season…I feel with the added strength and an improved game, he could be a 20 and 10 guy this season…And with the departure of big men, Amare Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer, from the Western Conference, he could definitely make the 2011 All-Star game

OhCanada-ParticipantWell I somewhat agree, especially since Pryzbilla, Oden and Camby have well known injury woes and mileage. Utah got back Jefferson, and Stoudemire is an avevrage defender at best anyways, and not a good rebounder. beefing up 20-pounds or so will help him bang consistantly in the west. Aldridge is only 25, this kind of breakout wouldnt shock me. He will be a huge matchup problem when playing OKC and should draw more touches. It is hard for him and Roy to average 20-points per game on the same team thou, and Portland is still extremely deep. He could make the allstar team thou…

paint intruderParticipantLaMarcus finally has to take the step to the next level.
To me he allready has elite skills for a big man but he needs to elevate his game and be more aggressive in the down low.0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/13/2010 - 4:26am #399915

BasterdInABasketParticipantI see way too many of these stories where players work on one aspect of their game over the summer and it is supposed to take them to the next level. He definitely has the potential to be a 20-10 guy but Ill wait till it actually happens.

In the West size makes a big differencel with durability and consistancy. added Strength could make him able to perform at a higher level night in and night out.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipanthe’s another one of those guys that Knows he’s that good but doesn’t want to go that extra mile and become special…there is a long list of guys that have tons of talent and no desire to put in “Kobe” like work in the off season and practice…

jas225Participanthe was 18 and 8 last year. i could see a 20 and 10 improvement if the blazers play at their highest potential this year. but most likely i see around the same stats, maybe and increase in scoring average a teeny bit.

OhCanada-ParticipantI agree with jas and would like to add increasing in effieciency is just as positive as increasing in production. If he can foul less, shoot better percentages and play defense better in less minutes and maintain those stats it would really help out Portland, especially if Camby, Oden and Pryzbilla can stay healthy. When healthy they have the best frontcourt in the league.

OhCanada-ParticipantIt just hit me they also have one of the best backcourts when healthy with Roy, Miller, Bayless and Matthews. Too bad they wont stay healthy or they would be legit contenders.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantIt doesn’t matter how much weight he gains or who leaves the conference, it’ll always be about his will to exercise his potential. It’s just on him.

Cardinal_FanParticipantHe’s already a good shooter with good range 4 a big so i dont think thats the issue. I think the added weight will help him finish around the basket better, playing against more physical bigs he tends to drift out of the paint more an turn into a jump shooter instead of using his size, length, an touch

SteroidParticipantYeah, the only way he’d get 10 rebounds is if no one else is grabbing them, so injuries to other players would help him out on that part, but that wouldn’t make him any better because of that. He’d still be known as an average rebounder at best.

scoutguruParticipantSometimes you guys get too caught up in numbers. Sure he could average 20 and 10 next year, which would be a natural progression for a guy of his talent, after adding another years of play under his belt. But thats not whats important when it comes to Lamarcus, its about his attitude, demeanor, and ability to elevate his game in big spots, and demand the ball. Just cause he’ll bump up his averages a couple pts and boards to 20, 10 won’t mean his impact on the game will be more felt. So thats what I feel is more crucial for him, he could average those same numbers as last year, but I wanna see his stamp placed more on the game, and if he does that, in the process, his #s could naturally increase as a function of that.

JNixonParticipantHe needs to get tougher and to polish his low-post game to take the step towards 20 ppg and 10 rpg. He is a pretty soft PF, and it really shows down low on both ends and on the glass lot of the times. He has very nice athleticism and he’s blessed with physical ability, but he fades away in his moves down low and throughout the course of games, and he is a mediocre rebounder, even worse if you think about all the tools he has. Aldridge has All-Star potential, he just has to get tougher to reach it.

——————————————————————————————————————————come again? This is the same guy who over the last three years has improved his scoring from 17.8 to 17.9 PPG and and 7.6 to 8.0 RPG. You expect his numbers to jump that much when he has shown little improvement over the last three years?

GrandmamaParticipantHe has a slim chance at ever averaging 10 rebounds a game. If you you have ever watched him he rarely bangs down low and likes to hang around the perimeter. He tends to shy away from contact and is one of the least physical PF’s in the league. Slim chance at 10 rpg. If Oden is healthy that will also lower his chances.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantBut he’s a young and long PF with a good to great mig range and outside game…if he just hit the block 4 to 5 times a game and really gave the effort in the paint another 2 scores and 1 or 2 rebounds a game and he’s 20 and 10…he reminds me of the New KG(floating outside and settling for jumpers) He has the chance to be a younger and better version of New KG(again not the one who played C and lead the Celts to the Ring) lets wait and see if he gets his ass in Gear and steps up…He and Greg oden are the keys to a Ring in Portland…A healthy Roy and Oden and a 20 and 10 LA with that deep and talented team spells Championship…Big IF I know…Oden hasn’t stayed healthy and Roy may be next in line, not to mention LA doesn’t have that look like he wants to be the main guy and leader if all goes wrong,..

ilike.panochasParticipantAldridge will never be a double digit rebounder, no matter how much he bulks up. Rebounding is one of his weakness and asking a mediocre rebounder to all of a sudden be a rebounding machine just doesn’t happen.
