Toronto16ParticipantIn another touching story, Ron Artest said Wednesday that he plans on auctioning his championship ring for the benefit of a mental health charity without ever having worn it.
“You work so hard to get a ring, and now you have a chance to help more people than just yourself, instead of just satisfying yourself,” he said. “What’s better than that? For me, this is very important.” Say what you will about Artest, but he’s made giant steps in reparing his image after ‘the brawl.’If anybody plans on trying to buy it forget it. We all will be out bid by Lebron James 🙂

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWow, Artest is really trying to fix his image, and to tell you the truth, it’s working.
He’s an NBA Champion, motivational speaker, and now a charitable person.

SwatLakeCityParticipantCouldn’t agree more. Love what Artest is doing. Before I thought Artest was just this money, self-absorbent, slob, that has no care for the world or anything else but himself, and money. But maybe I was wrong. Good move Artest. Maybe the Lakers aren’t so bad after, but still the Kobe thing bugs me. But I do like that Artest is trying to repair his image after what happened in the brawl. That was a just a sad day no matter if you were or are a Pacer or Piston fan. Sad day for the NBA that I wish never would have happened because of what it told the public about Basketball. Now lets see if Stephen Jackson does something similar or Jamaal Tinsley. Its interesting that when he came to LA, all Artest wanted was a ring; he felt so bad because he’s never had one before, and now that he has one, he just wants to give it away. WOW.

stanford hoopsI doubt if artest is tryna fix his image because off the court it was never broke. He’s been helping people and giving to charities for years. Of course the media never talks about that just the things he dies that will sell papers which are the negitive or outragous things.
I’m
sure we all see Rasheed get techs but how often have you ever seen a report about the kids he sent to college or the YMCA he helped keep open?0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/09/2010 - 12:46pm #397843

sheltwon3ParticipantI think people get caught up what they think they know about a person. Artest has made some mistakes but for the most part most people say he a charitable person. Also I would rather deal with Artest who seems like a cool person but a little out there than people that are refered to as normal but are jerks and a- holes. If you have to be crazy or seen as crazy to do nice thing, that makes the world to be scary. So called normal people don’t care. God bless Ron Artest and what he is trying to do.
