jerb2011ParticipantHow does it determine who will win or lose more games based on a trade. It confuses me b/c according to the trade machine, Nenad Krstic for Jason Thompson would not affect either team and that doesn’t seem right

hoodwinkParticipantThe trade machine is based on Player Efficiency Ratings.
These are described here : http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=hollinger_john&id=2850240

hoodwinkParticipantI tend to disagree with its win/loss speculation as it leaves out several non-statistically-based variables.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI agree. The win/loss thing is stupid. I just pay attention as to whether or not a trade works. If not, I fix it accordingly, and then once I find one that works, I evaluate it myself or I post it here and see what other NBA fans think of the proposed trade.

sheltwon3ParticipantThat is what I do as well because it can not account for chemistry and team need among other things.
