OhCanada-ParticipantEither we sit back and accept the 0-wins, 3-losses record or we take a stand now.
Leo Rautins needs to be fired after this tournament.
Matt Bonner, Samuel Dalembert, Karl English, Kris Joseph and Mangisto Arop should have been on the Canadian Roster, but weren’t due to bad management and/or selections. Some even say Freshman like Cory Joseph, Tristan Thompson and Dwight Powell should have been on the squad and veterans Steve Nash and Jamaal Magloire should have been recruited as well. The fact is if the management really did a good enough job 10 of the Top players for team Canada`s success would not be left of the team. They would be proud to play for this team and never turn down the chance to win games for the country they are proud to represent. Why did Canada’s top players not play for team Canada? They are not proud, they are not receiving the attention/hospitality they deserve, or they are not confident in the program, and that has to change.
People can say whatever they want, Arop and Joseph werent polished. Maybe so but they are still more skilled then half of the Roster.
Jamaal Magloire and Steve Nash want to save their bodies for NBA games. Give them a reason to sacrifice, chase for gold have a real goal. Your team should believe they have an opportunity to win every game or they should not be playing any of the games.
Dalembert was a pre-madonna type player requesting better accommodations and showing up for practice late. You don’t give up on a “Star Calibur” player like Dalembert because you are having issues with him, what you do as a management is find a way to receive better accommodations, and you give him a reason to show up for practice.
Bonner’s citizenship wasn’t accepted in time. This one is the biggest joke of all, especially considering the fact that Bonner has been talking about receiving his citizenship ever since his first year with San Antonio, If you want to win this is something you need to sort out, not wait for the last minute.
The Freshman were preparing for College/University. Well I’m not sure how strict the NCAA is about letting these guys come play for Team canada, but I’m sure their is a way around it. Developing these young prospects is crucial, if Rautins was Team Canada’s top player I wonder how these guys would have done.
Team Canada has alot more talent then as advertised, and alot more talent then most teams in the world, Rautins keeps talking about the future, but with the talent Team Canada has the future should ve been now. Nothing against Leo Rautins, he is a great sports announcer..and ambassador of Canadian Basketball, but he’s no Head Coach. It’s time for change, and that starts with dismissing Head Coach Leo Rautins and finding an experienced and capable Coach for Team Canada. It’s time we get someone who can not only develop our players, but recruit our players and put them in positions for success, even if it isn’t Jay Triano. PLEASE JAY COME BACK.

It’s such a pain to watch to Canada :(! breaks my heart because we can be so much better
What do i gotta do?
Joel Anthony is nasty, Rautins ruins every relationship with his players and people don’t respect him. Get Triano in there. I heard Nash thinks hes a great coach.

doubledribblerParticipantI do believe Canada has to have better talent then what they are putting on the floor, but any time I see the word “Star Calibur” next to Dalembert, I can only laugh. I laugh harder when I hear about a team making accommodations for Dalembert. I’m not a big fan of switching things up, but if I’m going to do it, it would be for someone like Steve Nash. Mr. Sammy D, has not done much of anything that is noteworthy in the NBA let alone international play. He can block a shot here and there, grab a rebound and get a putback, but if your hopes are resting on him, then it’s time to go in and either watch some hockey or get a new hobby.

OhCanada-ParticipantDalembert has some very good skills and is an NBA Starter. International play is different and I believe he can be a very good international player. It is something to build on. Worldwide in basketball terms Dalembert could arguably make any International team other then Team USA, thats pretty good to me.

OhCanada-ParticipantPlease Fire Rautins!
Samuel Dalembert watched his former teammates at the worlds in Turkey and saw a team with talent, but lacking direction. That opinion is hardly a surprise, seeing as a dispute between Dalembert and national team head coach Leo Rautins at the 2008 Olympic qualifying tournament led to him being thrown off the team.
“We had a good team, looking at all the other countries,” Dalembert said Saturday before participating in an NBA promotional event in Montreal. “But leadership comes from the organization and then it shoots down. In the NBA it’s the same thing, it starts up there and it moves down and everybody shapes up. But when you have a weak link up there, you can’t expect a response from the person down there if he’s not being respected.”
Dalembert was obviously never considered for this year’s national team, seeing as Rautins is still at the helm. In fact, three of the four Canadians in the NBA — including Toronto’s Jamaal Magloire and Victoria’s Steve Nash — were not in Turkey, with only Montreal’s Joel Anthony of the Miami Heat choosing to represent his country.
Dalembert doesn’t have regrets over what happened in Athens two years ago.
“I’m always going to speak my mind, and that can be good and bad,” he said. “When you speak your mind, you’re going to find enemies because there are people who don’t want you to speak your mind.”
Even though his first experience with the national team of his adopted country was a negative one, Dalembert says he’s open to suiting up for Canada sometime in the future.
“If a new coach came in,” he said, “I’d be more than willing.”
