Striver347ParticipantThe Nuggets can send Anthony and J.R. Smith to the Hawks for Josh Smith and Crawford (the money works, but you can check it yourself on ESPN’s Trade Machine).
Both teams maintain their current status as playoff squads, making this one of those rare “everybody wins” trades. The Nuggets will have to forge ahead building around Chauncey Billups now, who even at this late stage of his career is still one of the league’s best. The Hawks would have three All-Stars in Anthony, Johnson and Horford, their own version of the “Big Three” that has become so popular the past few years.
The Nuggets grant ‘Melo’s wishes (I’ve seen the New York rumors, but the Hawks are better right now) and send J.R. Smith to a new destination while the Hawks grant Crawford’s wish and give up on the-cusp-of-his-prime Josh Smith (a deal I’d be willing to do to get Anthony, who is a better player than anyone on the Hawks’ roster right now and in the past decade).
Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri and Hawks GM Rick Sund are welcome to steal whatever they need here that helps put this thing into motion before we get to training camp, because we’d like to focus our energies on several other things, particularly in Miami, Los Angeles and Boston.
In Sekou Smith’s article, the above is mentioned. I was just thinking, well, that’s pretty interesting for either side no? The Nuggets receive a suitable replacement for JR and they receive a monstrous defensive player who will not replace Carmelo’s scoring, but add intensity to the squad. He’s not necessarily a small forward, but can play the role. While Obviously, Atlanta picks up an elite forward and troubled, though undisputedly talented back-up two guard. The results I believe would be catastrophic. But that’s my take. Yours?
And preferably, no insane negativity. I’m still reasonably new to the site and getting used to things. Thanks in advance.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIf Atlanta throws in a couple future 1st round picks as well, I say Denver does it.
Carmelo is worth more then Josh Smith and Jamal Crawford to me.

tigers04ParticipantThe hawks might not wanna trade josh smith but if its to get carmelo anthony your tellin me they’d say no? Bc idk any reason besides him not re-uping with them that they wouldn’t trade a very nice young player for a top 5 player who is a proven leader, and a perfect compliment to joe johnson

RUDEBOY_Participanti would trade Josh Smith for Carmelo in a Heartbeat…..
Atlanta really have to Shakeup their team..
Horford is playing out of position..
Bibby is getting old..
Johnson is suppose to be the leader of the team.but he doesnt know how to lead..and that bad ..
Marvin Williams has been a disappointment.he might blossom some place else..They have seen that they’re only a regular season team and not a title contending team with that lineup…

Chicago1980ParticipantThe question is will Carmelo sign an extension with atlanta if not then this deal wont happen. It sounds good for both teams though.

paint intruderParticipantIf I was Atlanta I would rather look to move Williams than Smith, who’s really the most versatile (sorry Joe) player on the Hawks team…

Anton123ParticipantIf they move Smith, then they have only one good big man in Horford, if they do that, they really ned to trade Willams and/or Bibby for a big

nateoak10ParticipantBut ATL wasnt on Melos preferred teams so I doubt he’d sign the extension so iono if ATL does it with Melo on a 1 year deal.

Jlv2010overrated. I’d still take him though. Good second option.

OhCanada-ParticipantDenver would probally still be a very competitive team. Also that would be a great avenue for Josh Smith to expand his game.

Im Your FatherParticipantBut I think that Carmelo and Joe Johnson would compliment each other’s games very nicely. For all the heat joe johnson takes, he could still be an outstanding second option on a championship caliber team.

NYK2010ParticipantWill be more 1 on 1 and the team doesn’t play enough D. Good move for the Hawks cap wise they move Smith’s big contract and don’t have to pay Crawford which is unnecessary with JJ making so much money. Moving Marvin would make sense but could they really afford Mello, JJ, Josh Smith and Horford that would be over 55 million between just 4 guys.
They really should’ve traded JJ in the offseason in a sign n trade they can’t win a game in the 2nd round even with him. If they rebuild the team they could’ve gotten a lot in trades. Instead they are messed up cap wise and have Horford and Crawford to pay still.
