CHICAGO — The Chicago Bulls agreed to terms with free agent Keith Bogans on Friday, according to a source with knowledge of the deal.

The deal is for two years, with only one guaranteed, according to the source.

Bulls.com writer Sam Smith reported that the deal is worth about $2.5 million.

Bogans, a seven-year veteran, started 50 games for the San Antonio Spurs last season, averaging 4.4 points and shooting 35.7 percent from 3-point range.

Bogans joins Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer as free agents who have signed with Chicago this summer

Bogans and Brewer are awfully similar players although Bogans is a better shooter and Brewer is a better athlete and slasher. SG was their weakness and while they struck out on Rudy Gay, Joe Johnson, or even Mike Miller or Redick, they did a good job at landing Korver, Ronnie Brewer, and Bogans. All 3 can give you solid minutes and Bogans and Brewer are good defenders. Now if they do end up trading for Rudy Fernandez in a James Johnson package than all of a sudden they have a huge log jam. Bogans, Rudy, Korver, and Brewer can all play SF behind Deng if they are desperate but for all of them their best fit is the 2 guard. You can’t fault the Bogans signing but if they do end up trading for Rudy than they were probably better off signing a true pass first PG behind CJ Watson or maybe a backup SF or big man.

They DID sign CJ Watson and Kurt Thomas. I agree they need some depth at the 3 spot but the bulls have done a great job at filling out their roster and creating great depth on their bench. I don’t know if this is the Bulls year because of the stiff competition in the East but they have a great future.

Luol Deng, James Johnson, and Ronnie Brewer are all capable of playing the 3. I think they’re ok. I just hope they have enough interior size with Noah, Boozer, Asik, Gibson, and Thomas

He’s a solid player but I’m not sure why they have him and Brewer. I guess they are just getting insurance for it/probably when Deng gets hurt.
