PlatypusParticipantFrom what I’ve heard it’s in Portland’s hands now for what they want. I’ve heard the Bulls have a pretty good shot, but nothing matters until it’s done. Let’s not overstate Fernandez, who always has sounded better than he has performed. But he’d be an excellent addition, and as I wrote Monday the No. 1 guy I’d still pursue
Gibson is hardly an untouchable, but I’ve heard Portland’s main interest is a No. 1. I cannot be see giving Gibson and a No. 1 for Fernandez, but as I said I’ve heard the Bulls have a strong shot and may be the leader in the clubhouse now for getting Fernandez, though we know it’s not a deal until it’s a deal
We here in America just want to do right by immigration. Yes, you have a point as despite the huge outpouring of ‘We Have to Have Rudy’ emails I’ve gotten, I have heard he’s been a bit of a turd at times. He’s just not as experienced at it as McGrady and is healthy, which McGrady doesn’t seem to be. If McGrady pouts again, that’s all you get. If Rudy pouts again, you may also get some good play, though it also is why I don’t want to give up too much.
I think it caught (the Bulls) by surprise as I heard they had no intention of advertising the workout, per usual. McGrady and his people apparently did. He tweeted about it to fans and I heard contacted media about it and leaked stories to the effect the Bulls were seriously interested, perhaps to put pressure on them to sign him. Not too smart. I don’t think that helped his case with the Bulls, who seemed to be somewhat surprised and a bit taken aback by the media fascination. After all, they thought they were looking at a 12th man candidate

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe Bulls will regret it if they trade Taj Gibson for Rudy Fernandez. How will Chicago replace his rebouding and hustle?
In the NBA you are not supose to trade a “big” for a “small”. That being said, you certainly don’t trade an “established big” for a “small w/potential”. It’s my oppinion that you don’t mess with “good chemistry” players like Gibson for another sg, let alone a sg that thinks he’s a star.0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/31/2010 - 8:42am #366017

yellowdunkerParticipantAt the end of the day i think the knicks are going to out bid chicago in this Rudy Fernandez race Taj Gibson is a very good defensive presence and with Tom Thibodeau running the defense first offense second type of system he’s going to fit perfect on this new and improved Bulls roster coming off the bench as for the Knicks there still in the hunt for Carmelo Anthony and possibly Tony parker so there willing to give up a lil more than chicago including a first round pick and Anthony Randolph.

SubZeroParticipantI wouldn’t call a Sophomore that had a decent Rookie season “established.” If anything, Rudy Fernandez is more established, but hasn’t been on a team that’s right for him. Not saying the Bulls should do the trade, as they need Gibson more than they need Fernandez though

IknoBall12Participanthes an improving big man that was a nice key player 4 the bulls last year. i think hes part of that nucleus that makes the bulls so good and i wouldnt give him up for fernandez

SubZeroParticipantI agree with you IknoBall, I just meant that I don’t think he’s quite established himself good enough to start yet

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantRudy is not even a great fit on the Bulls to be honest, they have a lack of frontcourt depth as it is why trade Gibson, I just do not see it benefiting the Bulls one bit, plus Gibson is one of those players you want on your team, he hustles, is aggressive, rebounds pretty well for his size and does the dirty work, cannot see why the Bulls would want to do it.
