Love how you put King on first team. He’s been put in a position to succeed and i really think it’s gonna pay off. He’s one of the most underrated freshman in the nation.

Jerime Anderson of UCLA could sneak on here. So could Bryan-Amaning.

This had to be the HARDEST conference to do man….It’s real top-heavy. The Honorable Mention was real tough to figure out.

I have to agree about Dunigan. After seeing that Oregon got a McDonalds All-American I was excited, I thought the guy could be a force. Unfortunately he’s been passive and weak, with almost no offensive skill to speak of. That being said I hope Dana Altman, the new head coach, will be much better at development than Kent was. Dunigan definitely has the potential to be one of the top big men in the conference and I hope Altman will bring that out in him.

very good stuff and i can see all of that happening. I do think Calvin Haynes of Oregon State will make second or third team. He is their leading scorer and has a green light the second he walks in the gym. I would be kinda surprised if King made first team. Hes very good and will be one of the top freshman, but i watched a couple of his highscool games and tyler lamb(UCLA) was the better and more assertive player while i do think king has more upside and potential.

And Im glad you mentioned Rihards Kuksiks. I dont know if he will make a conference team or not, but i love watching him play. I think he is the best shooter in the conference. He’s soft as hell and not very athletic, but his jumper makes me jealous. He’s kinda of a shorter poor mans version peja stojakovic.

except for best shooter, i agree with all of your honor roll accolades

@celtic jayhawk, no way jerime andersen sneaks on to anything. Hes a serviceable college backup/spot starter who does nothing special.

@rico, why wouldnt malcolm lee be playing next year?

a couple sleepers who might creep up on people:

jammelle McMillan(nate’s kid) is gonna take over the starting pg spot for arizona state and i think he is an upgrade over derreck glasser.

markhuri sanders frison could be cal’s top scorer and be a go to big man for them with all 5 starters leaving.

EJ Singler (kyle’s little bro) is one of the better offensive players for oregon and can step up next year as a sophomore

reeves nelson is comparable to jon brockman. He battles like a football player around the paint and he has soft hands and finishes well either with strength or a soft touch. At only 6-6 it will help him that josh smith will allow him to play his natural pf spot.

Overton is the best defender in the country..,….

i cant comment on the whole country, but i do think overton is the best defender in the pac 10. I actually think that washington has the 3 best defenders in the conference with overton, holiday and ammaning. ball handlers better be on point when overton is on them. I’ve heard a few sports people who cover college ball say he is the best defender in america.

He’s up there. I think he could very well be the best on-ball defender, but they do D.P.O.Y based on steals and blocks etc etc, and he’s not a gaudy numbers type.

yeah, the thing working against him is he is a backup 5-10 gaurd who will play about 20 minutes a game. Guys who get 30 minutes and have better numbers will overall have a better impact defensively which is why i can see overton not winning any defensivel player awards.

So whats next iggy, maybe predictions for each conference?

Very big omission. Dwight Powell. He should have no prob getting freshman of the year. He’s also the best NBA prospect. Also green over king right now. I like king but him over green is silly

Also doubt that starks gets newcomer of the year. I can understand that you don’t knowuch about the freshmen since u have admitted before you haven’t seen them play so you’re prob going by what you’ve read on them

I said in your post that I’ve seen King, Smith and Starks play.:

    http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/pac10-freshmen-scouting-report#new

It should be the 1st post. I’m not including Powell or any of your Stanford guys in there since I haven’t seen THEM play. Make sure if you come at me, come correct.

as for which freshmen will have the biggest impact next year, i think the rankings should look like this:

    1-josh smith-ucla
    2-diwght powell-stanford
    3-allan crabbe-cal
    4-keala king-asu
    5-tyler lamb-ucla
    6-bryce jones-usc
    7-ahmad starks-oregon st
    8-terrence ross-washington
    9-anthony brown-stanford
    10-gary frnaklin-cal

I think Keala King will have the biggest impact. He comes in a situation where he’ll log major minutes and have control of the offense from Day 1. He steps in a situation similar to the one Harden stepped into. Given the fact that he plays nearly the same exact way Harden does, I think he’ll put up the same kind of stats as a Freshman, and find his way into the Pac-10’s elite immediately.

maybe, but he will have to battle for minutes. Abbot was all conference last year and he plays the wing. Trent Lockett was first team frshman and should improve significantly and he plays the wing. Kuksiks plays both forward spots but is mostly a permiter player. King is gonna have to earn those minutes at a position where ASU is already solid. I do think King is the best talent of those guys and will have the most productive career at ASU, but first team from day one is pretty optimistic. He is unslefish and is good at creating off the dribble for his teammates so he will have the opportunity to play in all sorts of lineups and move around quite a bit which will give him the opportunity at plenty of minutes.

I think he can do it. Abbott isn’t a guy you want taking a bunch of shots or possessions from a guy like King honestly. He’s solid, but they’d be wise to let King take control of that offense next year and letting the rest of those guys play off of him. All the guys returning can play off the ball, and Abbott can play with or without the ball. King is unselfish too, so I think he can score and set guys up without it being too much of a problem.

How does Dwight Powell play? He’s a 5-star recruit, but I haven’t seen him play.

Ill state right off the bat that i have only seen clips and read about powell so your opinion on him is as good as mine. But stanford has a huge opening for anyone with talent who can create some points. He is atheltic and attacks the rim and considering what they have returning from last years squad, im basing my high opinion of him on the opportunities he will have. Stanford sucks and green is the only guy returning who could probably get any run on most pac 10 teams, so all the stanford freshman will get opportunites.

This is like the 4th time today talkin bout the dude…but I’m tellin u maurice jones the freshmen pg will ball out next year at usc and if he gets enough minutes he’s a lock for 10 points and at least 4 assists,,,and he doesn’t miss from the line so he may score more than that..think AI but 4 inches shorter

Come at you correct? Calm down mr sensitive. I said you havnt seen the freshmen MUCH so of course you’re opinion about who makes what can’t be taken too seriously because like u said u havnt seen all of them play so of course you’re gonna put the ones you have seen play as newcomer and freshman of the year..

But anyway I forgot to add Anthony brown. Very very talenTed kid who will be on the all freshman team

Also Stanford will prob have four guys on the allfrezhman first second and third team because three are expected to start and the other two will get major minutes. Cal might have a couple as well for the same reason
