topscoutParticipantI just wanna know who u guys think will be the top 5 Centers n aout 5yrs..I don’t c a lot of dominate centers n the league now as there once was such as the 90’s..my top 5 I think is: 1) Dwight Howard 2) Brook Lopez 3) Demarcus Cousins 4) Andrew Bogut 5) Javale McGee…. honorable mention : Joahkim Noah Gregg Oden Greg Monroe Hasheem Thabeet other notalbes:Jeremy Tyler Andre Drummonds… what’s your top5 n 5yrs??

WrecklessParticipant1. Dwight Howard
2. Andre Drummond (Ill get points down for this, but he is a special talent to me)
3. Brook Lopez
4. Demarcus Cousins
5. Andrew Bogut (If he can stay healthy)0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 9:57am #365652
the I in winParticipantI’m glad you mentioned Andre Drummond but their really is no way to tell. Bogut is still going to get better, Cousins has the potential to be the best (but probably not), Greg Oden regardless of injuries is better than Javale McGee. I don’t want to hear about his summer league because it’s just that, summer league.

PureshooterParticipantThabeet? Really? I’m not sure I see him in the league in 5 years, let alone an honorable mention.
I would replace McGee with Marc Gasol and give Bynum an honorable mention. Oden, Yao, and Bynum would probably be in the top 5 for me if I didn’t doubt their durability.
Drummond….it’s just too early for me. I think he will definitely be special, but top 5 by age 23-24 is asking a lot.

Toronto16ParticipantWreckless I gave you a point. I think Andre Drummond is one of those special centre’s that is so few and far between in today’s NBA.

SubZeroParticipantScary thinkin about how Drummond is a year older than me and gettin all this pressure and national recognition. I don’t know how I would handle the media

canesboy6ParticipantReally nice call on Andre Drummond. Heres mine
1. Dwight Howard
2. Brook Lopez
3. Andrew Bogut
4. Demarcus Cousins
5. Andre Drummondbtw UNC is going to get Drummond, I’ll stake all my cred on it.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:14am #365665
Demarcus OnealParticipantThe fact Andrew Bynum isnt on any of those lists is embarrising and Andre drummond is a PF not a center
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:16am #365667
WrecklessParticipantNo he’s a Center capable of playing PF.

cuseflynn10ParticipantFab is 7 feet tall and 270 pounds and appears durable. Is he a potential top 5 center? And no one mentioned Enes Kanter even though I think he’ll be a power forward.
My Top 5 are:
Dwight Howard
Brook Lopez
Andre Drummound
DeMarcus Cousins
Fabricio de MeloHonorable Mention in no specific order:
Enes Kanter (if he counts as a Center)
DaJuan Coleman
Isiah Austin
Andrew Bynum
Greg Monroe
Joakim Noah
Cole Aldrich? Might not be dominant but hes a hustle guy.
Javale McGee
Marc Gasol
Al Horford0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:19am #365671
Demarcus OnealParticipanthe is a PF with ability and size to play center
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:19am #365672
WrecklessParticipantFab Melo?
I dont think so.
I really hope he doesn’t leave Cuse early because he really needs to polish his game more.
He has the size and the body already, just needs to develop his post game more.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:22am #365674
TRC1991Participant1) Dwight Howard
2) DeMarcus Cousins
3) Brook Lopez
4) Andre Drummond
5) Greg Oden/Andrew Bogut cant decide0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:26am #365675
Demarcus OnealParticipant1.Demarcus Cousins
2. Dwight Howard
3. Andrew Bynum
4. Brook Lopez
5. Andrew BogutI am a bit biased with the Demarcus Cousins ranking you can tell by my username
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:30am #365679
651TwolvesParticipantyou guys really think he’ll be a top 5, dominant center after only 1 year of NBA experience (2 years of highschool, 1 year of college, 1 pro)? Dwight Howard hardly made himself into the conversation after his first season.
1) D Howard
2 tie) Brook Lopez
2 tie) Andrew Bynum
4) Demarcus Cousins (maybe a bit of a stretch)
5) Greg Oden (only if healthy)close calls: Jeremy Tyler, Joakim Noah, Enes Kanter, Andrew Bogut
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:31am #365680
OhCanada-Participant1)DeMarcus Cousins
2)Dwight Howard
3)Andre Drummond
4)Brook Lopez
5)Fab MeloAlot of people are gonna kill me for putting Melo on this list, but he is a 7-Foot Center who lost wieght to be 260 this year. He is quick for his size, has good footwork and good touch reminding me of an offensive skillset of Soloman Alabi, along with a much better Athletic abillity. At 260 when he puts on muscle he will be about 280. He looks solid too, like injuries shouldnt become that uch of an issue. Melo is the real deal in my books. With Orton getting sleected as a late first-rounder I see no reason for Fab Melo not to be taken in the lottery as long as he plays ok and shows his tremendous potential.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:33am #365681
OhCanada-ParticipantKanter has C abillity, apparently this Summer he has been measured at 6’11 2 inches taller than recent reports. Idk if he will dominate thou do to the ohysicallity of the NBA.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:35am #365683
WrecklessParticipantKanter is another Andrew Bogut to me, which isnt bad at all imo.
I really want to see him in action this year at Kentucky.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:37am #365684
OhCanada-ParticipantIsaiah Austin is also a good candidate. He maybe better than Andre Drummond at this point do to his tremendous skillset. Austin has the potential to be the best shotblocking, the best 3-point shooting, the best passing, and the best skilled big man in the NBA. Also could just become a big bust.
Reminds me of Rasheed Wallace meets Tyson Chandler.

WrecklessParticipantIsaiah Austin?
He relies to much on his jumpshot from what I’ve seen, but he does have the talent. He also has great handles for a big man.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:55am #365690
nuffsaid_2001Participant1. Dwight Howard
2. Brook Lopez Big fundamentals 2.0
3. Andrew Bynum
4. Greg Oden
5. Marc GasolI know its 5 years out but I am going with people that have proven themselves now.
Noah
Bogut
Horford
CousinsDrummond, Fab Melo, Up in the air and I dont know what they will do against competition there own size
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 11:01am #365692
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantBrook Lopez Big fundamentals 2.0
I really hope your not comparing Brook Lopez to Tim Duncan….
1. Dwight Howard
2. Andrew Bogut
3. Joakim Noah
4. Andrew Bynum
5. Marc GasolI think out of all the potential bigs who can crack this is Andre Drummond. He’s going to be solid in college and even better in the NBA
0- Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 4:35pm #365854
d-ravParticipantGood job for naming Andrew Bogut as your 2nd best center (he was an NBA all 3rd team). As far skills and feel for the game goes, his better than D12, but his athleticism and Dfense is far and wide inferior to Dwight’s. In saying that however, he is, and will be the 2nd best center, even over Brook Lopez in 5 yrs time, as his more polished on O , more aggressive on D, and a better rebounder than Brook (he demolishes K-Perk everytime they meet). No disrespect to Brook though, i think he’s an awesome center.
1. D12
2. Bogut
3. Brook
4. Noah
5. Bynum/ Oden0

5-Marc Gasol*cousins will have to prove something first

flibbenmcgParticipantWhat about DeAndre Jordan? The clippers seem to think he is gonna be somethin special in the future.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 1:10pm #365768
SteroidParticipantDwight Howard
Brook Lopez
Andrew Bynum (if he can stay healthy)
Andrew Bogut
Demarcus CousinsI think Cousins is the wild card. He could potentially be in the third spot within 5 years, and Bynum is always going to play hurt or not 100% for the rest of his career. He could very well be lower on my list just because of that.. If Greg Oden actually plays more than half his games for the next 2-3 seasons, he could be in there.

stanford hoopsok alot of these post are just out there
1. in 5 years its damn near IMPOSSIBLE for drummund to be a top 5 center. wont he be a rookie or in his second year?..hes good now but hes no shaq
2. fab melo will not be a top 5. hes very very raw on offense. right now hes ALL defense and hes actually not that great at moving his feet on defense but is a good shot blocker. Some of ya’ll need to stop going by a couple of minutes of a allstar game
3.Marc gasol is good but hes 25 years old and isnt better then bynum now whos 22.
4. And Im not drinking the kool aid like alot of people on here and predicting great things for katner because of one allstar game. He looked less then impressive when he was playing against actual college big men at the lebrong/cp3 camp. Allstar games are nothing more then open gym. college games are much different with more organization and better defense. not saying he wont be good but one allstar game doesnt make a great player
5.Isaah austin isnt a center. not sure how many times i have to tell people who never watched him play. hes about 6’11 a ok shot blocker at best that loves to sit on the wing and shoot threes(which hes actually pretty good at). this kid is alot closer to a sf then a center

NYK2010ParticipantJavale Mcghee no way he’s top 5.
Is Howard 1st now if Yao stayed healthy probly not
Would kind of suck if Howard is still #1 in 5 yrs.
Maybe a young prospect comes in the league and is the next Olajuwon or Ewing though.
Oden and Bynum have great potential but will they stay healthy even for an entire season doubtful.
Bogut and Brook Lopez should be in the top 5 for a long time.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 9:06pm #365909
idunnonymoreParticipantwheres al horford on these lists this guy is really good he made all star i think oden should be a little higher i like where you got lopez at cousins is decent but should be higher and javalle mcgee is insane
