Spurs2020Participant7 feet
245 lbs
7-2 wingspan
9-1.5 standing reach
32 inch vertHow good will his rookie year be? Believed to be the best big in Europe, I think he could be better than Scola since he has that same competitiveness, but isnt as polished,
Possibly a candidate for first team all rookie?

dwat4444ParticipantIt’s always hard to tell with Euro players. He’s a freek athlete no doubt who can come into the league and provide some minutes down on the block, but he’ll need to gain weight/strength to really compete, expecially if his outside game isn’t polished. Like many Euro players he’s not a physical guy and when Manned up he gets frustrated, so he’ll need to either get stronger offensively or develop a potent jumper. Seeing 20 minutes he could average 9 and 5 realistically, depending on how much break is run, because thats where he excels as a running forward using his athleticism to beat other guys down the court.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantIt isn’t hard to tell when they play at the highest of levels in Europe. He was the MVP of the ACB league in Spain and All-Euroleague at a very young age. He has been one of the best big men on the international level going back to 2006 when he averaged 16 and 6 at the WCs. He is going to start. He’ll play close to 30 minutes per, I think the Spurs will be smart enough not to push his minutes too high when he hasn’t played 82 games before. He has said that he molded his game after Luis Scola, and if he is a 6’11” Luis Scola that is a really good thing for the Spurs.

Spurs2020ParticipantIt says in his draft profile that he struggles with physical play like you said dwat, but that was 4 years ago, and everyone says he has improved significatnly year after year, From a competitive standpoint he plays like a bulldog, you dont get mvp over there without playing that way… Has anyoe watched him recently, from youtube videos he seems to manhandle his opponents… i guess if the spurs need someone toi come in and really bang they got Blair for that… im starting to really like SA front court situation…

Real Talk Real TrophiesParticipanthe is def still a work in progress and will take time to adjust and develop. He was MVP in the ACB league, but Gerald Fitch was the runner up so does that really mean all that much. Fitch was solid at Kentucky but never really was a pro prospect and barely sniffed the nba.
He is lucky to be with the spurs where they have a great coaching staff to help teach him, learn from timmy Duncan, and battle the physical monster of d. Blair in practice every day to get tougher.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/30/2010 - 8:31am #365606

stealsgaloreParticipantThe big thing here is that if Splitter is good enough, it can really help the Spurs match up with the Lakers front court.

ChrischiParticipant3 years for 11mil sounds like a pretty bad contract for the best big-man in europe. Just saying..

dipt1982ParticipantHe really reminds me of a young Gasol, offensively at least, the way he moves around the basket, shoots well from mid range. He could be a big difference maker with the Spurs on their last Duncan legs. The window is closing on them and he could put them back in the title hunt, though I really don’t see anyone beating the Lakers out west…
