Yahoo Sports is reporting that free agent guard Eddie Hose has signed a 2 year 2.8 million dollar deal with Miami…

Good signing, Spot up shooters and defenders are what the Heat should be moving for now IMO.

Good for Eddie, another shooter for the big 3 to kick it to. another nice pick up for heat. He should be able to get some minutes as a streaky shooter for them.

Thats a good pickup because House has a lot of playoff experience and brings intensity to the roster

My only question is whether or not the Heat are adding too many aging veterans…

    Eddie House- 32
    Jamaal Magloire- 32
    Juwan Howard- 37
    Big Z- 35

They will always sign veterans, d-leaguers or rookies given their lack of cap space.

To combat the aging veteran theory, I would say look at what Boston had in 2008. Both Sam Cassell and PJ Brown, two definitely well aged vets, provided meaningful contributions to that team. They were both pushing 40. This Miami team also has a much younger core, yet at the same time their are not to many players who have seen more play-off experience at this point in their career than LeBron James and Dwyane Wade over seven years (their are some who have, but please do not split hairs, you get my point people). So, I think signing these veterans is a good call, and over time I am sure they will find a way to add some younger players as well.

    PG Carlos Arroyo, Mario Chalmers
    SG Dwyane Wade, Eddie House
SF LeBron James, Mike Miller, James Jones, (Da’Sean Butler)
PF Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem, Juwan Howard, Shavlik Randolph, (Jarvis Varnado)
C Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Joel Anthony, Jamaal Magloire, Dexter Pittman

They’ll probably finish games with LeBron, Wade, Miller/House, Bosh, and Haslem/Z.

So, Da’Sean probably goes unsigned and joins the NBDL once he gets healthy enough to return to the court. Does Varnado does Varando go to camp and compete with Randolph for the 15th man or go to Greece for a year ala Beverley and Dozier?

Do the Heat have to waive somebody now? They already had 15 players under contract.

Anybody else get bugged by Eddie House? Just a mouthy little guy. Don’t get me wrong he makes insane shots, but he’s just one of those players I can’t stand haha

“Do the Heat have to waive somebody now? They already had 15 players under contract.”

I doubt that Hasbrouck (who I forgot to include earlier) or Randolph have contracts with much guaranteed money, so having 16 under contract for training camp does not mean a ton. Also, they have not signed Da’Sean Butler or Jarvis Varnado. Given how they have signed so many vets, they probably won’t.

I think they have done very well juggling the salaries and signing vets to minimum contracts, but I can’t help but wonder how all of these new players are going to come together on a team and be successful. So many new faces can be a bad thing, very few of these players have played together on the court.

I see them having stretches of struggling at different points during the season. They have a lot of work to do to make this all work. You basically have 2-3 core players from last year’s roster, and a gang of new faces. I just don’t think they will make it gel together as quick as everyone else does…

I think you have your facts wrong. They have nine players back from their team last year. The only players from their rotation that aren’t back are Q-Rich, Jermaine O’Neal, and Dorell Wright. By the way, they turned those three into LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Mike Miller. Wade has played with LeBron and Bosh on Team USA. Haslem was roommates with Miller at UF. Zydrunas played with LeBron for every season of his career. House and Howard don’t have a connection to any of the players, but they do with management. Riley wanted to give Howard $100 million at some point, and House started his career as an undrafted rookie for Riley in Miami.

They will be more than fine. Lebron James wins 50 by himself every year. Wade gets to the playoffs by himself, and Bosh is about average for a franchise player Id say. The Three of them alone make you good from day 1. Wade and James are both good Chemistry Guys. You cant double team all 3 of them, or even 2 of them. Every night you are going to pick wether you want Wade or James to eat you alive.

The role players are great too. I think without James and Bosh, the Heat would still be improved over last year. Miller is the perfect flank for the superfriends, Haslem is the rock, and Howard, Ilgauskus, James Jones, and House are very competent role players.

Eddie House tried to convince me to drive him to get beer when he was playing in the NIT against NC State in Raleigh about 10 years ago. ASU had just lost, so his college career was over. I told him “No” because I didn’t want to look like a pushover in front of the girl I was dating at the time, and he wouldn’t let it die. What a pain in the ass.

The Heats small ball lineup is going to be sick! Bosh at the 5, Lebron at the 4, Miller at the 3, House at the 2 and Wade at the point. Two accomplished 3PT shooters and the big 3. Further to that, the Heats fast break should be disgustingly good. Wade can get to the hoop pretty much at will in the half court and when the D collapses to cover, an easy pass will result. The House signing means there will always be a very capable 3pt shooter on the floor for the big 3 during the game. It will be impossible to double team the Heat next season…

I find the Shavlik Randolph signing to be the oddest move. He will certainly provide some competitiveness and bruises during training camp (considering he is just a pain-in-the-ass on the court, pardon the language)…….but there ARE 16 under contract right now and I would have liked to see Varnado slide into that 15th spot…..his shot blocking ability and agility around the basket is fun to watch*)

*Then again Varnado will get significant playing time in the D-league, along with some intense weight training……..

I just dont see Randolph making the roster…..Bosh, Haslem, and Howard are ahead of him on the depth chart
