I gotta say the Utah Jazz with Malone/Stockton and the Sacramento Kings team in the early 2000s.

    1993 Pheonix Suns
    2003 New Jersey Nets
    2005 Pheonix Suns
    2006 Dallas Mavericks
    1994 New York Knicks

Those are my main 5. Out of those, I would pick the 93′ Suns but the 94 Knicks were close as well.

A lot of teams in the 90s were great teams Jordan’s Bulls were just too dominant and crushed every team, it was a shame, the 1996 Supersonics were pretty good too with Kemp and Payton.

2004 Lakers. I know, they were old, Shaq was not in his best playing shape and all that Jazz, but they were a damn good team. They to me were one of the best to not win it. Also, the late 60’s and early 70’s Lakers, those teams were stacked. Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Elgin. In 1970-71, the famous one they lost to Willis Reed, they had 4 guys average 20 per game for the season (Happy Hairston being the 4th). They only finished 46-36 that year, but Jerry West had 31 per game, Wilt had 27, Elgin 24 and Happy had 20. Hairston and Baylor did only play like 55 or so games, and Wilt only played 12 during the regular season, but they were all there in the play-offs. It took the Knicks 7 games to beat them, and it was the last time that a team with 3 of the top 15 players of All-Time in my opinion made the finals together. When they finally won it in 1971-72, Elgin Baylor had retired. That 1971-72 team is known as one of the best overall teams and won 33 games in a row on the way to a 69-13 record. But 4 Hall of Famers on that Lakers team, along with the pieces they had, they were not a deep team, but their front end talent was off the chain. The one thing that might hurt their case? Their 5th leading scorer was: SLAVA MED-VA-DENKO (Stephen A. Smith is a loser, but this and “Quite Frankly” will always be his catch phrases. Along with “Cheese Poofs”)

since i started watching in 1992, the best teams that i saw who didnt win were:

’93 suns (pair of all-star gaurds in KJ and Majerle and barkley at his absolute best)

’98 jazz (maybe the toughest series chicago had. Very solid and efficient team on both ends the court led by league mvp karl malone)

’02 kings (they were the better and more talented team then the lakers. Blowing the 20 point halftime lead in game 4 that would have given them a 3-1 lead was crucial)

’10 celtics (while they struggled all season, they put it together and played some of the best defense I have seen taking care of cleavland and orlando decisively and missing a huge opportunity to beat lakers when both teams had sub par game 7’s)

there were some other really good teams that had all the talent such as the early to mid 90’s sonics, 2000 blazers, as well as both lakers and spurs a couple times they didnt win it.

I’ll have to say that, The Knicks during the Jordan Era. Pat, LJ, Starks, Oakley, all of them should of won a while on the Knicks but couldn’t get pass Jordan and the Bulls. When they finally got their chance, it was stop short by the DREAM. BEST team to never win a title.

knicks were solid, but i never thought they were the top team. Bulls, houston, phoenix, utah, seattle, and even orlando a couple times were all better then them. THey were close, but not one of the all time greats imo.
