LOL he will never be as good as Boris Diaw, not even close. Julian’s basketball IQ is not very good, despite being pretty highly skilled at 6’8. He wont reach half of his potential and hes heading towards the “bust” area, some players just don’t work out and hes one of them.

Wright athleticism makes him a good player in the NCAA but in the NBA he’s too much of a tweener and lacks a great basketball IQ.

Isnt julian wright the guy who royally blew the wide open windmill dunk at kansas? What a clown.

he a super athlete but he has developed no real skills at all at the NBA level. I think at best he may become a good defender off the bench as he matures in his career

He is still young and maybe a change of scenery will help him. It could be a confident thing because I have seen players on the verge of not making it go somewhere and then everyone is like acting like they were always that good. Shannon Brown was close to being out of the league, Bill Walker was too, and a few young players that after a few year people were like they are busts and then out of nowhere everything clicked. It took around 3 seasons before Diaw was Diaw.

I don’t understand the Diaw comparisons. He isin’t the passer Diaw was. He cannot play mutliple positions like Diaw and I think he’s more athletic then Diaw.

Wright needs to reinvent himself. He has size so he should be a solid defender coming off the bench. He needs to crack New Orleans’s rotation. I don’t think he will due to the fact NO just drafted two forwards. He should hope for a trade of Chris Paul so maybe he could be in the deal.

julian wright is a great passer … great ball handler for someone his size other than that he doesnt really do many other things well..

I really like Juilan Wright and I am really hoping he kind find a role soon. I thought he was great in college and would soon be productive in the league…he’s a real cool guy too I met him in Chicago when they were in town to play Niagra, and then another team I can’t think of Villanova perhaps. Anyway I stayed at the same hotel as the KU squad and Wisconsin. I said whats up to Juilan and he talked to me for few minutes. I was also on a elevator with Bill Self but didn’t talk to him.

I’ve always thought he haid a lot of potential especially as a defender if he could only develop a go to move so he can be a threat on offense…However does anyone else think that all the point gaurd-like skills he supposedly had were a little bit overblown?

I’m very familiar with Julian Wright’s game and the thing about him is that I just dont feel has has gotten his head around what would make him the most effective player. He has worked on his range, I saw him shooting in the KU rec before he was drafted and in an open gym he was money from NBA three, but his poor shot selection in the pros is what I feel has hindered his effectiveness as a pro. He can pass, he can rebound, he is an above average defender and can really run the floor, but at time he tries to do to much and that is when his coaches have taken him out of the game. I feel this year is critical for him, he needs to work on his shot selection, not try to force a drive and pass situation and stick to playing defense, running the floor, cutting to the rim ( where I feel his passing is utilized the best ) and hitting open shots and I think he can be a 10 and 5 guy off the bench or an occasional starter. I don’t feel he’ll ever live up to being the #9 pick, but I think he can still be a decent pro if he figures it out. If not I think he’s out of the NBA after next season.

julian wright is one of many high potential 1st rd picks that have faild to develope so far. at this point im sure hez wondering what he needs to to crack the rotaion. well this is how.

he needs to look around the leauge or even his own team and see how this non spectacular vetes stay in the leauge. he should look at james posey his temate who makes good money to be a solid role players. every player wanst to be a star but he has to be honest with him self and move in to a more of a role player mind set. he needs to work on his defense and be able to knock down an open jumper and he should be able to stay in the leauge like keith bogans, bruce, bowan, posey, wesley mathew n more.

Julian Wright at talent that does not seem to have found his niche in the NBA. He looked more like a player to me his rookie year and I think now since there is more pressure on him, he does not know what his role or niche is. I think if he went to another team and found a good role for him, it would help in his development. Also New Orleans had a better team his rookie year.
