I am not a big fan of his but I was wondering why he did not declare for the draft this year, other that the fact he may be staying for educational reasons. Aside from that he has no way of improving his stock to me he has already won the title this year so it would’ve been best for him to exist on that note.

You don’t think that maybe he enjoys the college experience? I wish more players stayed 4 years.

he’ll probably be a first round pick, and he came back to win another championship.

he has always been a first round pick. he will be a great role player in the nba some day. high motor, hustles, hard worker, not afraid to get banged up, good catch and shooter.

i would take him just out of the lottery prolly.

he prolly staying in college for the chance to win another title, the college freshmen, doesn’t need money, and still enjoys the college life.

Another year under Coach K might not help his draft stock, but it will help him develop as a player. Plus, he probably knows that he’ll never be as big in the NBA as he is in college and wants to enjoy it while he can.

Also, A LOT of players declared this year. He may get picked higher next year for that reason alone.

I don’t see why everyone is knocking me for this thread all I said was that it’s going to be hard for him to improve his draft stock.

If he had came out this year..He might’ve been a late 1st or 2nd rounder..Next year’s draft isnt as deep..So dont be surprised if he’s goes in the 8 to 14 range…

He wanted a first round guarantee, and with all of one week to work out simply used the NBA’s guidance for early entry candidates to realize he was on the bubble. It doesn’t hurt him to go back. If he doesn’t want to spend the next year of his life learning Russian, then it is probably for the best he returned. The oversees job and 2nd round pick can be there next year. He had a rough go transitioning to small forward last year, but he has to learn to play on the perimeter if he is going to make it in the NBA.

I think he will go in the first round, and probably higher than I would feel comfortable taking him. I think he can probably do what Ersan Ilyasova did last year, but at what point that kind of player becomes worthwhile is difficult to gauge.

Singler’s got the skills to be a legit NBA player but I think he’s too much of a tweener to be anything more than a decent role player. He’s way too slow to guard on the perimeter at the NBA level, and definitely not strong enough or big enough to play down in the post. Best case scenario would be a Jeff Green type player, although Green had way more polish coming out in terms of post moves and ability to guard bigs.

shylo3716, I essentially agree with you. Although I love Kyle Singler as a college player, his future in the NBA is very limited.

    Power Forward: Not strong enough

Small Forward: He lacks quickness on offense and agility on defense

Kyle Singler is the kind of guy who can round out your roster at the end of the bench and at best, give you 8-10 minutes per game.

senior year anywhere is the best experiense ever. I think he made the best decsion. He has a chance to win another championship. Another year of meaningful floor time. Gets his degree. and he get one more year of being worshiped by everyone on campus without the pressures of being in the business of basketball. I would take that over sitting on the pine in the NBA, which as long as he stay healthy he can do after his senior year

He wants to win back to back championships and he would have been a first round pick but with another he will probly be a lottery pick

“He wants to win back to back championships and he would have been a first round pick but with another he will probly be a lottery pick”

Untrue. He went out and got the information the NBA provides, he talked with agents, and in the end followed his father’s advice “if there is a chance of going in the second round, why would you even go.” It had nothing to do with loving Coach K, back-to-back championships, or the fun of a senior year. The family said that if he was one of the top picks, he would have left. Don’t ascribe a bunch of nonsense to his decision that wasn’t there. As for being a lottery pick in 2011, I doubt it, but it only took one team for Hansbrough to end up being a lottery pick.

singler is probaly staying for non basketball related reason becuz his stock was super high during this years draft he would have been a definite first round pick. a few weeks befor the tournement he was projected to go mid 2nd round and a jump to the 1st round top 20 is amazing.

maybe college parties are what they seem

So basically Singler is like a throwback Luke Walton during his Arizona years? Is that the kind of role you will take in the NBA?

I love that Ersan Ilyasova comparison for Singler. That’s the best one yet

Singler would have came out if he was a 1st round pick. Real talk..

So please, don’t let the fact that this guy went back to school as some kind of reflection on his integrity or whatever. I’m not trying to say that he isn’t a good person because I don’t know anything about the dude, but that doesn’t make any other undergradute or one-and-done who was drafted in the first round any less of a person than Singler is..
