Tyreke JohnsonParticipantIf you were rebuilding a team or starting from scratch who is one player that you would want on your team to be your franchise player, My vote is Kevin Durant and it is not because I dislike Lebron because he is the obvious choice. Durant is only 21 years old and is already one of the premier players in the league, he is the youngest player in NBA history to win the scoring title, led the Oklahoma City Thunder to where nobody believed they would go, 50+ win team got the 8th seed in the heavily loaded and competitive Western Conference. He is humble, hard working very quiet superstar who can get off his own shot, shoot very well, finish well in traffic, get to the free throw line very efficiently (believe he led the NBA in attempts per game at 10 attempts per game), he does need to work on his post game and maybe add some muscle which can be done in time still a very young player, he is a very efficient scorer but does need to learn to pass the ball when his shot is not falling and needs to rebound at a higher rate due to his superior length, 6’11 with very long arms, he is a solid defender but could be a very good perimeter defender if he commits more on it, he can disrupt passing lanes with his length. He is highly skilled, is very coachable and is always willing to get better and is a great leader who is very supportive of his team and his teammates.

llperezIf i was handed a team today and siad pick any one player in the league to build around, it would be lebron james. Dwight howard and kevin durant would also both be high on the list.

Michael.S.ParticipantFor me, it still remains to be seen if Durant can make his teammates better and takeover games in the playoffs, but I will give him time because although he got shutdown badly this passed season in the playoffs, that was only his 1st time there.

the I in winParticipantI would take Lebron but a very underrated aspect of Durant is the fact that he doesn’t dominate the ball allowing Russell Westbrook to be at his best while Durant still gets his.

dipt1982ParticipantIt would a tough call between LeBron and Durant…
Durant led a young cast of players to heights no one expected as did LeBron, but LeBron couldn’t finish what he started. I would take a gamble on Durant, because I just don’t think LeBron has that clutch gene of winning in him. Regardless of how bad is supporting cast was, he carried that team, and failed miserably, looking like crap against Boston last season. Probably wouldn’t be a bad choice either way, but I’d go with the younger Durant…

fastdanParticipantLebron dominates the ball too much which makes his teams too dependant on his play to win. A perfect example is the Boston series this year. He obviously was hurt/unmotivated/frustrated and wasn’t able to play his best which directly resulted in the Cavs losing. With Durant being able to play so well off the ball that if he’s not playing his best ball the PG can make the decsion to get different players involved.
Also, Lebron just made it clear that he’d rather not be ‘the man’ on a team, so I’m not sure why you would want him in that role.

Bryant24ParticipantI would take lebron right now but durant will be better in the future than he is right now lebron is argubaly the best passer in the nba and lebron can rebpund very well for a small forward but he dont have that killer instinct but if i was a gm and im drafting based on what they been playing in the past year i would take lebron but durant will improve drastically in the near future.

Michael.S.ParticipantLeBron is just unselfish, so he doesn’t even care if he is a third option, but if you thnk for one second that this guy isn’t a number one option and the best player on any team if he joined them you are outright wrong. Durant is in a position that LeBron was never in because OKC management was actuall smart and built around their star player, now they gota nice little thing going…but Durant is still far too unproven now to pick him over a player like LeBron.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantLeBron ..
With Durant You Have To Have A Guy Who Can Create For Others , Rebound , Play Defense , Etc ..LeBron Fills Those Holes & Gives You So Much Flexibility With Your Roster ..
He Can Fit At PG In A Tall Line Up Or At PF Or C In A Small One ..
& He’s Honestly The Most Dangerous Player Off The Ball Because He Can Go Back Door , Spot Up From Three , Control The Pain (To A Degree) , Etc .. Plus , His Athleticism Allows Him To Get To The Balls That No One Else Can ..

White ChocolateParticipantEasy, Dwight Howard.

ghettosermonParticipantFor the record maybe in spot up time he could but no way in hell could LeBron handle playing PF or C even in a small ball system like the Suns.

SubZeroParticipantKevin Durant, no doubt. And Lebron is NOT the best passer in the NBA, no matter what people say. He’s not better than CP3 or Nash

jerb2011ParticipantDurant doesn’t need a creater, he just doesn’t have the ball in his hands at all times b/c he knows Westbrook can’t get better if Durant always runs the offense, that’s just pure unselfishness and that’s why I choose Durant.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantMaybe So .. Bt LeBron’s Still The Best All Around Player In The NBA

WizardofOzParticipantI would choose Durant. I agree with everything you said Tyreke Johnson. Durant is still very young at 21 and still has a lot of potential and has a lot of time to improve more on his game. And he progresses so much after each year. These are his stats throughout his career and it’ll show you how he improved at basically every aspect of the game after each season.
Rookie Year: PPG – 20.3, FG% – .430, 3P% – .288, FT% – .873, STL – 1.00, BLK – 0.90, RPG – 4.4, AST – 2.4
2nd Year: PPG – 25.3, FG% – .476, 3P% – .422, FT% – .863, STL – 1.30, BLK – 0.70, RPG – 6.5, AST – 2.8
3rd Year: PPG – 30.1, FG% – .476, 3P% – .365, FT% – .900, STL – 1.40, BLK – 1.00, RPG – 7.6, AST – 2.8
Just look at the stats. You can see that he improved on basically every aspect of his game after each season. It shows that he’s got a great work ethic. If I were rebuilding a team or starting from scratch, he’s my guy.
