“Suddenly, the player deemed too flawed in most major areas to survive in the NBA is in contract discussions with three teams, according to league sources. The Los Angeles Lakers are believed to be another, and an Eastern Conference team the third”.

NICE! IMO, i think the Lakers should nab him immediately, as he has the potential to ultimately become the team’s backup point for the future (Steve Blake for now).

Also, depending on whether they contact him on joining their national team, China’s depth is finally starting to look stronger. If he indeed joins, their starting 5 could comprise of 4 NBA players (1 ex, but capable); Lin, Yue, Yi and Yao. Besides, he should be a welcome change as China’s point for the future, over the talented yet erratic “Chinese AI” Chen JiangHua.

Good for him, he earned it with his summer league play. A team like the Lakers would be great for him. But i’d like to see him go somewhere where he might get some actual playtime…

Dude Yao is retired from international play, also China is still weak compared to top level Euro teams.

Derek Fisher signed a 2 year deal with a 3rd year player option. Steve Blake signed a 3 year deal. Jeremy Lin is 22 in August. He’d be the 3rd option for at least 2 years, but for that time he can develop his game even more with the veterans around him like Fisher and Kobe. They can make him the fundamentally sound player to potential starter. Once Fisher and Blake are gone who else does LA have at point guard? Jermey Lin would be the perfect fit.

The Lakers had two chances to draft Lin in the second round and passed him by.

Derek Fisher and Steve Blake are under contract for 3 years. Shannon Brown will likely be re-signed.

    Lin should sign elsewhere.

good for him, he earned it.
I hope he can go to a team that he can play decent amount of minutes.
I think he is better than Sun Yue, he is not as physically gifted, but he plays hard and smart, he is also more confident.
Just wondering who is the first Harvard grad to play in the NBA? any big-name players?

There is no similarity between Jeremy Lin and Sun Yue. The comparison is simply racist.

Lin is a 6-3 NBA PG.
Yue is a 6-9 player without a position at the NBA level.

Wonder if people would compare Lamar Odom to Smush Parker, because both are black?

Geez chill out buddy. He was only comparing them because someone said he’s replacing Sun Yue on the Lakers as the nth backup. Anyways Sun Yue is a PG, it’s even the reason why he left the Wizards summer league squad because he wasn’t getting any run.

Sun Yue was not even on the Lakers this year, so Jeremy Lin would not be replacing him.

They are two completely different players.

Lin is 6-3, hard-nosed, tough as nails, decent shooter, good first step, and a true NBA point guard.

Yue is 6-9 and a softie without a position in the NBA. His only skill is ball handling, but his handle is more point forward than point guard.

Wonder if people would compare Smush Parker to Lamar Odom, because both are black? There’s no comparison between Lin and Yue. None whatsoever. Stop comparing them just because they’re both Chinese.

The best comparison to Jeremy Lin is Goran Dragic.

Start comparing Lin to Dragic and you’ll have a credible comparison.

In fact, Dragic is the player Lin compares himself to.

Mitch Kupchack liked Lin prior to the draft, but chickened out on draft day and passed him by…

I’d like the Lakers to sign Lin, but they don’t deserve to have him.
