dwat4444ParticipantIF kobe beats miami in the finals in the next 3 years, AND kobe wins 1 more than that: making 7 titles ,AND he wins one or two more MVPs, who on this site would consider him the best ever?(aka better than jordan)
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 9:27am #356005
BasketballGuru24ParticipantWhat i want to know is what kobe has 2 do 2 be better than jordan???? Causeee Its not like jordan inhumane. He is the best player of all time but i think if kobe can get 7 rings and possibly move higher in the all-time scoring list, and maybe hit one more mvp. We might have ourself the greatest player of all-time.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 9:27am #356006

Bryant24Participantnot this again and kobe has 5 rings so if he wins next year that would be 6 so he would be tied wiht MJ get your facts together first dwat4444
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 9:30am #356007

dwat4444ParticipantThe one title over Miami AND one more title makes 2 MORE, Therefore, according to secondary school math, 5+2=7

Brace94ParticipantJordan is the best “player” ever. Kobe is a great player, but not the “best,” he will be the most decorated. 2nd best.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 9:40am #356018
goneParticipantHe would have to get in the hot tub time machine an beat the celtics in 08 and get finals mvp when they 3 peated with Shaq

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantHe Can Have A Better Career Than Jordan , Bt i Don’t Think He Could Be Better Than Jordan
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 11:28am #356072
BasketballGuru24ParticipantNow u guys are just being 2 ignorant and emotionally attached 2 jordan.
“He Can Have A Better Career Than Jordan , Bt i Don’t Think He Could Be Better Than Jordan”
You serious come on. Thats just B.S ! Jordan is the greatest player of all-time as we speak, but kobe has to be making some sort of case. People said he was dne last year and through various injuries guided his team 2 a championship. You Are underminding the talent this guy possesses, but u know what if this gets more rings then jordan and wins next year, we can begin 2 make some noise
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 11:36am #356079

mini_marzParticipantjordan took 2 years off in his prime… could have finished with 8 titles if the game wasn’t boring to him…. kobe’s 3 rings really belong to shaq… cuz thats when shaq was his most dominant… plus people remember jordan being great in the finals ( never had to play in a game 7 )… what did Kobe do in game 6 and 7 this year???? didn’t ron artest do the damage?? plus honestly kobe just stole jordans game (this guy sticks his tounge out and even did the fist pump like MJ a few times)…. i’m a believer in that the student can’t be better then the teacher… kobe is an amazing player… but jordan has been called a basketball god lol… another thing… jordan was a ver effiecent player and was a great from the beggining of his career while kobe started out very slow(of course coming out of high school) and plus the game is much easier when u got that great inside post player( ala shaq and gasol)… another thing that sticks out to me… kobe was up 3-1 in a series against the suns in the playoffs and dissapeared in game 6 and 7… something that jordan could not even think of…. kobe will always be number 2 but a close number 2 at that
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 11:54am #356095

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantMicheal Jordan will always be better then Kobe Bryant. He has better playoffs and Finals numbers and made a bigger impact in the NBA
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 11:55am #356096

llperezmini marz, you say kobe dissapeared in game 6 against the suns? lol, you know you are great when you drop 50 on a team and people call it dissapearing.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 11:56am #356098

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantKobe Bryant quit in Game 7 vs Suns in 06. I watched.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 11:57am #356102
Michael.S.ParticipantI think he meant game seven of the finals last year.
just kidding
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:01pm #356107

llperezhe said game 6 and 7. We can discuss game 7, but game 6 he was amazing. he dropped 50 and carried the lakers. If tim thomas doesnt hit a 3 at the buzzer to send it to overtime, there would be no game 7. No way you can call him out for game 6.
as for game 7, he had like 24 in the first half and the team was down by 16 at halftime. He came out looking to set up teammates in the third, and they went donw by 30 with a quickness. He then quit.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:03pm #356112

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantHe then quit.
Eh, I feel once the Lakers went into the half he quit but that’s here nor there.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:10pm #356126

llperezkobe threw everything at the suns in the first half. At half time, phil even admitted to telling kobe to pass the ball more becasue scoring obviously wasnt working. When the lakers won game 4 to go up 3-1, kobe only took one shot in the 4th quarter. He tired to set up his teammates, and in a matter of 5 minutes to start the second half, the lakers went from down 15 to down 25. He then quit.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:11pm #356128
BasketballGuru24ParticipantSee U guys don’t even use logic. Quickly saying kobe didn’t win those rings. Do you understand those rings are for a team not a player. They couldn’t have won it if horry or fisher weren’t there either. Basketball is a team gam, but in a team you have leaders. Leaders are great. As soon as they hit 30 they don’t from team 2 team lke shaq, but tell the young guys they still belong and this is their game.
Kobe copied many peoples game. Are there any copyright restrictions ???He said it himself, he got moves from jerry west, hakeem, elgin baylor and more. He said everyone has something there good at. Kobe wants 2 be the best soo will doo what made other players great. Its all about his determination.
See Everyone keeps saying he had shaq and when shaq left , he has gasol. Come u serious. Jordan had scottie pippen he could have easily been one of the best players of all time ( even though he is) Stuck around jordan 2 compliment his game soo the ” Team” could win championships.
theres things jordan hasn’t done and kobe has done, that nobody even takes into account. Stop being lil kids and stop using facts that don’t mean anything. Like kobe choking in game 7 of his year finals. He did hit all his free throws in the fourth and grabbed what…. 15 REBOUNDS!!!! You guys are just scared 2 say he close as hell and might get there
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:17pm #356139
Michael.S.ParticipantIf he beats the Heat and Lebron in the Finals this year i would put him up there at Jordan’s level…but he did choke in last seasons game 7 Finals
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:23pm #356149

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI’m not scared to say he’s close. I have Bryant ranked 6th all time in my book.
He would need better playoff and Finals numbers to come close to Jordan. Even with 6 rings.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:25pm #356150
BasketballGuru24ParticipantJammin Lemon……Im Saying he aint there yet but like dwat said. If lakers beat miami, and mybe wins another. He has 2 be something more then second

Malik-UniversalParticipantNO PLAYER WILL EVER BE BETTER THAN JORDAN….
NOT EVEN JOHN BRYANT HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:27pm #356157
Michael.S.Participant^ If he did that I woud absolutely put him tied for 1st.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:28pm #356159

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantBetter then Kobe all time?
Jordan, Wilt, Russell, Bird, Magic are the 5 in front of him right now.

billykParticipantKobe is a BEAST he may not be better than Jordan but, he is better than any other wing to play…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:33pm #356169

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWow, I forgot about Kareem.
Kobe is 7th all time now. LOL
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:33pm #356164

bobforteParticipantHere’s the thing Kobe can never eclipse Jordan for a couple reasons. ONE Jordan was the creator of that style of play. Its like an original paintng or song, the original can be copied but its still not the original. A cover tune or a painting of someone elses art is good but its always going to be second best. I know people will argue sometimes covers can be better but in a sense they can’t. The fadeaway to the tounge out(now kobe does some kind of snarl) etc. Of course they are different Jordan more atheletic kobe a better outside shooter and both are still great players. Second most people still consider Jordan the best of all time even though Bill Russell had more championships so even if Bryant wins more championships really its not all about the championships. Finally Jordan made basketball popular and and like the Beatles changed the way basketball was played and thought of. Kobe is a great player will end up as top 5 to play the game but will never pass jordan not just because of basketball. Even though i still don’t think he is as good of an all around player. In the end though only time will tell, maybe future generations that watch footage with no biased will be able to decide

mini_marzParticipantsorry i forgot that he dropped 50…. guess i just caught up in how much he quit in game 7… u guys call it settin up teammates lmao yea rite… he quit… he is a baby… always has been always will be…. he can never be on jordans level…. kobe is an all-time great, but not the all-time great
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:55pm #356191

mini_marzParticipantthank u knicksboy for bringing up Kareem… one of the greats that people never remember even though he is all NBA’s all time leading scorer
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:57pm #356194

llperezactually i brought up kareem, but nice way to admit you were wrong about game 6.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:59pm #356198

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantPerez, explain how Kobe is the number 2 guy?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 12:59pm #356199

llperezexplain how he isnt
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:02pm #356204

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWilt had better numbers.
Russell was the winner
Magic was the innovator as a PG and a fastbreak game
Larry Bird was the best SF of all time.
Kareem was the best offensive big man/ most dominant C from 71-86
Jordan was Jordan. At best, he should be 4th.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:06pm #356208
Michael.S.ParticipantKobe is second, imo. Followed by Wilt then Bird and Magic.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:08pm #356211

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantEh, I just can’t see how Kobe is better then the players I named above.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:10pm #356215

llperezwilt never won a title until he became the third best palyer on his team. He stuffed the stats, but he also played in a different era where there were only a couple 7 footers and most bigs were not very athletic.
magic was terrible on defense and he also played most his career with kareem who is probably the greatest center ever. People remember all the good things in hindsite, but they forget how magic was nicknamed tragic johnson by the la media after multiple bad performances in the finals. He went 5-4 in the finals.
bird was also a sub par defender and he won 3 titles. Not really sure how he has the edge on kobe.
russell won titles, but he played in era where there was only like 10 teams and since no onw was turning a profit the celtics were able to buy most the top talent. He was not dominant on offense and at 6-9 225, i doubt he would be an allstar today.
kareem had magic and was considered the number 2 player on those laker teams.
Kobe has 5 titles and counting. People compare him to michael as the best whether you agree with it or not. He plays great at both ends the court. He is as skilled as any player i have seen play the game.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:12pm #356219
Michael.S.ParticipantWell, it doesn’t even matter because ultimately LeBron will best Kobe, Jordan, and everyone else.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:15pm #356220

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWilt won a title in 69 I believe. He was the #1 on that Philly team he won a title on so You’re wrong on the first one.
Magic was terrible on defense but he has 5 rings as well and he was THE reason LA became a dynasty. LA had Kareem for 4-5 years before Magic came over and they didn’t win a title.
Larry Bird was a beast. He wasn’t the greatest defender but he was mister do it all for that team. His career numbers are 23-10-6. He won 3 titles as well. I lean towards Bird on this one.
Kareem’s all time accolades and records are too big for Kobe to even touch. Plus, Kareem got 6 rings.
Russell was the 1st ever black superstar in the NBA. He won 11 titles and was the 1st ever monster on the boards. Also, they were more big men in the NBA at his time then you think.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:18pm #356225

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantAlso-
I forgot Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan is better then Kobe as well IMO.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:19pm #356227

llperezdidnt realize wilt had 2 rings, my bad on that. Still doesnt change my opinoin. 2<5
the rest is all just opinions. If you think those guys are better then kobe, then go ahead. They did a vote in los angels about greatest laker ever, and kobe won. Both magic nd jerry west have said kobe is the greastest laker ever. ANd to think he still has about 4 solid years left.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:23pm #356233

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantBut if your going off of rings….
Russell has 11, Cousy has 11, Kareem has 6, Magic has 5…..
They did a vote in los angels about greatest laker ever, and kobe won.
So, that’s LA’s opinion. Why not take more of the NBA anyalist opinons? I’m sure they would say Magic Johnson. Without Magic Johnson- The LA of the 80’s would not have exist.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:26pm #356237

llperezwhy not take my own opinion. I say kobe. Many people feel this way, even non laker fans. If you disagree, then feel free. We can go back and forth all day. I dont think those guys are better then kobe.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:29pm #356240

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI’m sorry but if you say Kobe Bryant is second all time and lean on rings as a reason why
I have to discredit your opinion. I’m not trying to be rude but going off of Rings is a lousy excuse. Especially if He was the robin for 3 of them.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:31pm #356242

llperezdid i ever say im going by rings strictly? I brought up numerous reasons. At no point did i say rings was it, but it certainly does count for a lot. I think some of your reasons are weak. Bill russell was black so he gets credit for that? lol
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:33pm #356245

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI have yet to see you bring up Kobe’s numbers yet AND you seems to go with the rings instead of the numbers…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:37pm #356249

llperezi brought up defense, i brought up rings, i brought up most skilled ever, i brought up the vote by los angles citizens,, i brought up what former laker greats said, i brought up how he still has about 4 more years, i have brought his defensive advantage over other guys on the list, i have brought tons of things. But if all you saw was the rings, then go ahead feal that way. Oh yeah, and kobe’s numbers are sick too.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:39pm #356252

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantEh, I don’t wanna argue.
I just strongly disagree. I don’t even think he’s the best Laker in my eyes.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/17/2010 - 1:41pm #356254

llperezyou dont want to argue? i have siad like twice i have my opinion and you have yours but each time you kept trying to tell me why my opinoin is wrong.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantShould I pull up Wilt’s numbers?
Magic’s numbers?
Bird’s numbers?
Kareem’s numbers? The numbers would still argue against Bryant as second best all time.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/18/2010 - 6:40am #356653

SDEParticipantMike did too much for basketball, i never seen nobody play like that not to metion now much influence he has on today’s bball players its stupid. he made bald heads cool, his sneakers sell crazy even those corney fusions, when retired the first time he came right back with a 3 peat and the best team in NBA history. Nobody in the league even like saying they better than him people ask Kobe is he better all the time and he say nothing like he scared of mike which he should be.
Last he never shared spotlight he would’nt allow it in today anybody can put upp a case for best in the league. When jordan played he made barkley, ewing, and the rest of them lost picking up confeti and champange corks. That houston team always say if mike didnt leave they had no shot to win those chips they got.
