not this year, that’s for sure

teams with a good center will overpower the Heat, they will lose more than 10 games

I could see them getting about 67-68 wins but not over 70

    injuries will play a part.

No…I have them at 57 games this year. They won’t get 70 if the PG play isn’t all that great. Plus they still need shooters.

Isnt lebron james going to be their primary ballhandler? I dont think point guard play is an issue at all. Chalmers is solid off the bench. Mike Miller is the guy that needs to have a great year for them shooting the ball. Hes going to have more open looks this year than hes ever had. Just needs to knock em down. Getting jason williams would also help a lot. He showed last year he can score off the bench. Their biggest need of course is a physical big man. Z and pittman will get eaten alive at the 5 by howard. If they fill that need they could definitely be a 60 win team barring any major injuries.

    Who was Chicago’s PG?

I think at best, 65 wins.

Chicago’s PG’s for that run were Ron Harper and Steve Kerr. One was a great defender the other is the best spot up shooting PG in NBA history with .454%…I think that helps and its better than Mario Chalmers.

They won’t win 70, but I expect them to reach 60. They can shoot better than most teams in the league. Miller and Chalmers can shoot, and they will get open opportunities. Miller did great with Pau Gasol scoring down low in MEmphis. I believe he led the league in 3 pt. % one year. LeBron and Wade will get better opportunities than they are used to and will improve their %s. Bosh and Z can can shoot too.

The 72-10 Bulls team was that, a team. It wasn’t a one year fling of throwing superstars together and filling out the rest of the roster at a cheap price.

Everyone on that Bulls’ team knew their role and they accepted it. Obviously, the Heat have 3 very special players, but they will need those solid role players like the Bulls had and the Heat will need the solid team chemistry the Bulls’ team possessed that can’t come about in just one offseason. There have been plenty of teams with a “Big 3” that never came close to 72 wins.

No and dint be suprised if it’s around 55. You don’t just put together a bunch of players and expect it to just click. Gotta build team chemistry.

No, its not just about LBJ, Bosh, and Wade, its about the other players and they dont have them.

No Defensive big (Kwame Brown wouldnt be bad)

    OR

No Perimiter defender (could have had Raja Bell, but chose Mike Miller)

Chalmers is a more than solid p-defender. And so are LBJ and Wade. I don’t think that’s a big concern for them. I think what they really need is a defensive presence in the middle and some bench production, maybe some shooter.

I think Dampier would really fit. He is slow and old, but atleast he’s though and he had some 20reb games last season. I’m not really sure if he would dump so much salary though.

Chalmers can only guard point guards not shooting guards and small forwards. They need someone besides the 3 amigos.

    For Example

Bruce Bowen to the Spurs 3

Artest to Kobe, Fisher, and Gasol

Sefolosha to KD, Westbrook, and Green

Courtney to Dwight, Turkoglu, and Lewis (magic)

Prince to Hamilton, Sheed Wallace, and Billups (with Ben Wallace inside)

Rondo alongside Garnett, Pierce and Allen. IMO, they wouldn’t have won the championship back in ’08 without Rondo’s solid play.

They don’t need another wing defender. Wade and Lebron can be lock down defenders.

I am really not buying this whole team chemistry thing with the Heat. These guys are ‘all world’ players who have played with each other on the Olympic teams. It is not like they are incoming freshmen. LeBron’s best attribute is his passing ability, which he has said is his favorite thing about his game. Wade already knows what it is like to play alongside a fellow superstar in Shaq. Bosh knows by now that he is along for the ride and isn’t going to get his 22ppg.

They will be ready opening game. 55 is lowballing them. I say 64-18.

They will win a lot of games at the free throw line.

Playing defense the past 7 years hasn’t taken away from their offensive production so why will it this year? this is the year when they can save some energy on he offensive end by letting each other go to work with out having to do it all by themselves

The Heat aren’t winning 72… Not this season.

I think they’re good for at least 60 though. Anything beneath that is low-balling them.

I think with all this talent, they will be comfortable coasting in the regular season. Stay healthy, dont over exert, then land the best available free agents for the minimum late and make a run. Lebrons had the best record the past 2 regular seasons, he good give 2 sh!ts about thier record. Not like they will miss the playoffs.

With the 2nd and 3rd best players in the league everyone else must just play their role. Bosh is a nice scorer but he is overrated. However, he will florish with LBJ and DWade no doubt. They will get away with playing Haslem at Center and whoever at the point along with the other 3. Haslem won’t hurt them playing big minutes at the 5. (Not any true centers in the league) Let Dwight Howard beat you, Joakim Noah can’t, Kendrick Perkins nope. Those are the centers for the other top 3 teams in the east….. Only 2 other’s from borderline to non-playoff teams Amare and Brook Lopez. Granted there will be injuries but the big 3 r young and simply to talented to not win 60+ games. I think that they will gel. (They have been planning this for a couple of years)! Who is kidding themselves thinking that they need a top notch point? A point who can spot up, a perimeter defender and one more big…..Don’t forget Pat is the king at finding no names and making them into specialist!

Bostons three won 66? If I’m correct, somehwere in that ballpark though..

    This three is clearly better
But the supporting cast is not.

I think all injuries aside, and if there aren’t locker room fights, they can hit 70, but winning 72? That is just unreal. And until they get the best player in NBA history, no team will get 72 again. Unless all five starters are Team-USA level.
