JNixonParticipantHe’s playing great today, making plays for everyone, knocking down floaters and lay-ins, and picking up full-court on D (although he’s not more than a pest on D because of his size). I’m a fan of his, I played against him at a camp in Atlanta once and he’s the fastest player I’ve ever seen before. And he has ridiculous handles. With his speed and passing ability, am I the only person that thinks he can be a 3rd PG for a team? He’s always played like a poor mans Rajon Rondo to me.

the I in winParticipantI think he could be a 2nd PG at some point in his career.

PlatypusParticipanti think he can be a combo of Will Bynum and a poor mans Rondo

JNixonParticipantWill Bynum is a combo guard who can’t make plays for others very good at all. Smith is a pure PG who isn’t a scorer at all really. He’s not like Ishmael Smith IMO other than being small, fast, and athletic.

PlatypusParticipantI meant the fact that he can come off the bench and provide energy, 3 point shot, the height, the speed and athleticism
Bynum was the energy off the bench for the guards for the pistons and thats what smith can provide

JNixonParticipantIsh Smith can’t shoot 3’s though.

PlatypusParticipantneither can will

JNixonParticipantAlright, then why do you have that he can provide a 3-point shot? I don’t know, Ishmael Smith doesn’t do the same things Bynum does IMO.

PlatypusParticipantathtletically he is Bynum but skill wise he’s Rondo is all i’m trying to say

gregoden08ParticipantMaybe a 3rd string pg, but nothing more. He is too inconsistent and doesn’t play good defense. We all know that he can’t shoot at all. He will play in the NBA at some point.

surveParticipantHe has a future, I have said it all along, his speed and rush hour handle is rare to come by. He has to be on the right team and also if he develops other assets of his game, he will be in the league for a while.

romeeezybabyParticipantThe NBA has an abundance of talented PG’s on teams. Players like Darren Collison, Eric Maynor, Kirk Hinrich, Eric Bledsoe, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, Beno Udrinh, Toney Douglas, and Rodrigue Beaubois are a couple of examples of point guards that are extremely talented but not starting because of the depth that is currently slotted in the point guard position.
Although he has sparked some interest with his play in the Summer League, it is still the Summer League, and I don’t see teams giving much interest in Ishmael unless it’s a call up from the D-League.
