mikeyvthedonParticipantChandler and Ajinca to Dallas for the non-guaranteed contracts of Erick Dampier, Matt Carroll and Eduardo Najera. I am guessing that might mean Shaq to Dallas is a no go? I guess it makes sense for both team, as it looks like Charlotte is planning towards the 2011 signing period (though the supposed imminent lock-out might put a damper on that plan). They could still sign Shaq I guess, using the mid-level, but that would make a log jam at the Center, which is unusual to say for Dallas. The best chance Shaq would have to get PT is probably Atlanta, but I have heard little about him signing their lately. You can say that Chandler is an upgrade at Center, but he is constantly injured, and I would be surprised if he were in Dallas’ long term plans. That being said, What will a potential depthchart look like for that team? Do they start Marion and Butler along with Kidd, Dirk and Chandler? Jason Terry and Rodrgiue Beaubois will need minutes, and I am sure Barea will still play a role. Haywood would be a nice back-up, though for the money they signed him at, I am guessing he wants starter minutes. Cuban seems to be very good to his players, but I do not see how this is a team that will compete with the best in the league. I think he has yet to really go after a person that can light a fire under Nowitzki, and it has put the Mavs on the pendulum of mediocrity.

NashyMingParticipantI don’t really get why MJ did this trade. It’s worse than the Calderon trade.
The original deal with Raptors for Bobcats,
In
Jose Calderon (9mil, 3 yr)
Reggie Evans (6mil, 1yr)
D.Jones (from Suns) (min, non-guarantee)
Out
Diaw (9mil, 2yr)
Chandler (13mil, 1yr)This deal would let MJ save a little money this year but take on Jose’s last year (around 10mil). It gives the Bobcats a PG that is pass-first and a good shooter.
The new deal with Mavs for Bobcats,
In
Erica Dampier (11mil, non-guarantee)
Matt Carroll (4mil, 3 yr)
Eduardo Najera (3mil, 2yr)
Out
Chandler (13mil)
Ajinca (<2mil)This deal would let MJ save a little money this year but take on 2 more year of Carroll and 1 more year
of Najera (combined near 10mil). Also, Diaw is still with the team. They get two backup that probably won't contribute much while shipped out a young atheletic 7-footer (although raw, still has potential). There's no logic for MJ to prefer a worse deal. Any idea?

sheltwon3ParticipantBobcats may have a bigger deal with Dampier’s contract in place.

sheltwon3Participantalso I see a big different between 7million dollars broken up and 9 millions dollar all together. Dampier may not be staying on Bobcat.

HotSnotParticipantThis is what MJ did in Washington. Questionable decisions and managment. Calderon (when healthy) is one of the better PG’s in the league. He shoots excellant FG, FT and 3pt % and was a well above average A/TO ratio… Most of all the Bobcats actually need a starting PG. They gave away their best bigman in Chandler and a prospect and didn’t fill a need. Nice job MJ. Its Isiah all over again except Mike actually owns this team. Just a puzzling transaction all around for the Cats.
