StarbucksSucksParticipantDan Gilbert is too much. I understand he is hurt because his former player and apparent man crush has left the building but if he keeps going in on him this way he will only further damage his reputation as an owner. What free agent will want to sign to play for the plantation owner as described by Jesse Jackson. This is an intelligent, very wealthy man involved in an industry not known for being scrupulous. His comments seem stupid on the surface. But what may really be going on is actually positioning. By undercutting the value of his own team he creates a dire financial crisis for his organization and appeals to Dark Overlord Stern for relocation based on the struggling Ohio economy and the NBA’s status as second citizen to football in Ohio. He plays the Schultz/Bennett card and shows Stern greener financial pastures in another metropolitan area. Paranoid? Maybe. But remember Gilbert draws cashflow from a struggling market. That is going to be further damaged by increased oversight and regulation. Say for example he approaches someone like Steve Ballmer and asks for a “deal he can’t refuse”. He receives an offer approaching the value the Cavaliers held while Bron was there, less 10%. But still higher in value than he paid. The team promises to try and stay but in two years after gross mismanagement departs. Sounds crazy right? That is precisely what happened in Seattle. Cleveland fans be wary of this man Gilbert. Painting your former star as a villain, could be the greatest cover up since Kaiser Soze, once he convinces the world that he no longer exists. Poof! Gilbert and your team could be gone. Don’t forget this man had close association with Kwame Kilpatrick and who knows what nefarious financial dealings they may have had, and how they may have impacted the economy in Detroit. Gilbert. Crazy? Or crazy like a fox?

RUDEBOY_ParticipantGreat Post……You made some good points..Gilbert needs to accept what has happen and move on..Its like a loved 1 passing..You hate it hearing the news..You mourn, cherish the memories and find some way to deal with it….
Jesse Jackson’s comments were a little off base..He means well..But Gilbert is upset becuz he now knows that the Cavs will go from 1 of the valuable franchises to 1 of the worst ..If he sold The Cavs he will not get a fair return for the money he invested..Lebron’s presence in Cleveland bought in 200 million dollars a year to the city..Now with him gone..That’ll drop dramatically.. Jesse should’nt made this a race issue..Becuz there are so many other issues concerning Black Americans..That he should be addressing..

StarbucksSucksParticipantThe race issue is overblown. But I say really watch Gilbert. A guy who made billions in lending has a couple dirty tricks for sure

CameronParticipantGood point. Gilbert is most definitely a sketchy dude and his rant was about as transparent as Lebron’s “charity” announcement. He was mad because he lost a bunch of money last Thursday, and that’s the only reason
