If they get a big, defensive-minded C, that lineup would be good. They can put in Chalmers for Miller (unless foul trouble takes someone else out) and put James at SF. That would be a solid lineup that wouldn’t miss much of a beat with a single substitution.

I think the lineup would look more like churchboy’s.
LBJ would be listed as SF but more like a point forward role ala Pippen.

I would start Joel Anthony @ the 5, and keep chalmers @ the 1.

Chalmers can really pressure the ball, for real.. and I think Anthony could be that defensive presence.

Yeah I think point guards Lebrons best position he played it until he was fifteen and even played some as a rookie with the Cavs. I’ve always thought that Lebrons greatest skill besides his athleticism was his court vision and playing him at pg would showcase that. Lebron has allready stated he wants to be a facilitator and as a point guard he would get dwade and bosh so many easy looks. He could lead the leauge in assists and help wade leas the leauge in scoring.

A good free agent center that would fit good with this team would be Brad Miller, he is a veteran, a passing big man which is good for a team full of ball hogs, and can rebound and defend in the post and would let Bosh play his natural position of power forward.

LeBron cannot defend at the point. Well not from what I’ve seen. Rondo ran circles around LeBron when he was guarded by LBJ. LeBron is a better off ball defender than on ball.. I think LeBron will still be a forward, but he will be the primary ball handler if anything..

Big Z and the heat have been talking so its possible he could be going there

They are also waiting to see if Haslem will come back or take more money in Dallas but he is only 6’8 though

Joel Anthony and Dexter Pittman are going to be the centers of the Heat this season unless MIA can convince another defensive or veteran center to sign for the minimum. I’m sure Bosh at the 5 and LeBron at the 4 also happens against small ball teams aswell.

If you look at the formula used by Boston your Center doesn’t need to be that good on the offensive side of the ball. As long as he can play good D and convert rebounds and dump off passes near the hoop the center position should be fairly effective. Pittman should be able to reliably defend the truely huge Centers in the league and Joel is an excellant shot blocker on all the others. Bosh prefers playing at the elbows anyways so spacing should still be ok on offense.

I think MIA signs Joel to a 2 or 3 year contract worth around 4 million a season. Joel is one of the few players MIA retained bird rights on and they need to start getting OVER the cap ASAP so that future trades and signings can start to be realized. As currently constructed the only players MIA will ever be able to trade that have any salary cap value will be the big 3 and Miller if he signs with the Heat. Everyone else on the roster will be a minimum salary player or near that and it makes it nearly impossible to acquire players making 4 through 10 million a season via trade without flipping your entire roster in return.

MIA has no Mid level this season but next they will next season and you can obviously count on them using it. I wonder who is unrestricted at the end of next season and would be will to sign for the midlevel to come to MIA?

Jason Williams would be a perfect PG for MIA this season if they can convince him to take the minimum. He provides good 3 pt shooting and is familiar with MIA from when they won the last championship there. Miller and Williams would provide effective 3 point shooting and spacing for the big 3 to operate. I suppose Chalmers could provide the same but having another solid PG on the roster never hurts.

it doesnt matter if lebron is the point guard, because on offense he will be guarded by the 3 and they will put their point guard on mike miller who is uncomfortable in the post and will most likely hang around the 3 point line. there will be ways to guard this team its when the double teams star coming is when all hell will break loose.

The problem with that is Dexter Pittman isn’t a good defensive C, other than the occasional weakside block. He also is a mediocre rebounder, probably even below average for his size. He isn’t needed to start in the Heat lineup.

I think Joel Anthony should be their starting C because he’s a defensive presence who won’t take shots from anyone. He actually has alot of Kendrick Perkins in him.

How soon you all forget, the Heat also have the next Kareem Abdul-Jabbar over in Europe. His name….Stanko Barac. He will immediately come over and change his name to Stanko Barac-Obama, and sport some snazzy protective shades. This man also plans to bring back the sky hook, though his variation is most accurate from about the 25 feet range. He will draw the Center out of the paint!

On a serious tip, no, LeBron will not run point, he may at the end of games, just as Wade might and Kobe/Odom tend to do, but LeBron will be LeBron. It could indeed make some sense, but it makes more sense for Mario Chalmers to start off guarding most opposing teams PG’s, as Charley Rosen pointed out (and I find him to be one of the best at this), LeBron still can let quicker players blow by him. You may say, well who is quicker than LeBron? Well, you would find out if he ran point the whole game. I would say that Center is what they are most focused on as Miller will resume his 6th man role he has played in numerous seasons and they will have a need at C unless Stanko Barac is an actual option, which I do not think he appears to be. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Stanko is not.

i’m telling you i would take a flyer on kwame brown to let him go out there and provide a defensive presence and big body on the more physical teams you play plus he would play for cheap

offensive he may play point guard but defensively he will probably be guarding small forwards or shooting guards.

anything kind of offense can work if you have the right personnel but you have to alway look at can this guy guard that position on defense.

Alot of people are forgetting D.Wade can defend PG’s and Mike Miller plays average D against SG’s and SF’s anyway. Lebron can play PG offensively, and then Wade can defend the PG’s, Mike Miller can defend SG’s or SF’s, and Lebron would defend SG or SF’s too (more likely SF’s).

This is obviously hypothetical, as was my 1st post, but I would love for Lebron to play PG. He functions alot like a PG as it is.

I don’t see LeBron playing the 1. I think he will play the 3 and don’t be shocked if he gets alot of min at the 4 in some lineups. The Heat need a elite defender IMO and I think they should give Bruce Bowen a call.

They don’t have any elite defenders, but Wade is a very good defensive player. So is Mario Chalmers. Joel Anthony could be an enforcer too. They don’t have ELITE defender, but Bruce Bowen probably isn’t even thinking about the NBA right now lol. I think they can do without an elite defender, they have enough offensive punch to overcome a lack of an elite defender since they have a few good defenders on their team.

I ask because I think that’s what they need. If this team is looking to beat Orlando ( who will improve and most likely trade Vince Carter for pieces) and Los Angeles, I feel they need another strong defender.

both lebron and wade are elite defenders. also, i agree with whoever said that wade can guard the 1 on defense. the only real question is the five spot. anthony will be solid, maybe even like an erick dampier would sign for the min considering he stole money from the nba for the last 5 or 6 years. this team will be real real good no matter as long as bosh isnt playing the 5.
