Bosh, Wade, James make for one of the best 3 man combos of all time. Now all I hear is “if James wins, it’s because of Wade and Bosh” Now, I’m not Heat fan, Wade is my favorite player. And you know what? I would rather see them on different teams, it makes the East that much more exciting. All of this “He can’t win without them” will go away after a couple of titles. Let’s take a look at a list I’ve come up with concerning a “Big 3”

    1980’s Lakers:
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Arguably the greatest center of all time.
Magic Johnson, Arguably the greatest point guard of all time.
James Worthy, One of the most prolific scorers of his time.

Nobody takes anything away from those Lakers. They have 2 of the GREATEST players at their position and nobody says anything.

    1980’s Celtics:
Kevin McHale, 26-10 guy in his prime.
Larry Bird, Arguably the greatest small forward of all time.
Robert Parish, 19-10 guy in his prime.

Once again, 3 superstars that got together and nobody takes anything from their titles.

    1980’s Pistons:
Joe Dumars, One of the best scoring guards of his time.
    Isiah Thomas, An NBA Legend
Vinnie Johnson, 15ppg in his prime

Once again, 2 legends and 1 star got together.

    1990’s Bulls:
Michael Jordan: Greatest of All Time
Scottie Pippen: Defensive monster, one of the greatest SFs of all time.
Dennis Rodman: One of the best rebounders of all time.
Toni Kukoc: a 19-7-5 in his prime.

This is actually 3 GOATs in their own regard and you add a very good point guard.

    Keep going?

Fans are jealous because of the way LeBron went to the Heat. He kept us waiting and then had an hour long special to announce his “Decision 2010”. Had he been traded to the Heat during the regular season (yes, it’s probably impossible), then nobody would have gotten mad. Then if Bosh would have been traded to Miami during the season as well, nobody would have gotten mad. If anything, these guys should be respected. They traded in millions of dollars, for what? To win. Isn’t this what it’s all about? Winning? Atleast they didn’t bust a Carlos Boozer how he left Cleveland for the money. Joe Johnson stayed in ATL for the cash. But these 3 great stars? No, they turned down MILLIONS, in order to win.

    Respect.

The only reason why I am mad about his way he handled being a free agent is this,
He is the only free agent to ever have an entire devoted to him and his decision. I heard that his People proposed this to ESPN and ESPN agreed. What is Lebron, a spoiled little baby that needs special treatment. Yeah, I get that he is the biggest free agent catch this year, but since he is a player in the NBA shouldn’t he go through just like every other free agent does, instead of this big extravaganza. That is what bothers me the most.

Second is the fact that he will be depending on the other two to get a title, but what other superstar doesn’t depend on others to win a championship?

Every player has to depend on other stars.

    Garnett, Allen, Pierce

    “3 Stars, 1 Team, 1 Goal”

That sounds like a commercial for a sitcom.

Even though LeBron’s decision does take a lot of excitement out of the NBA, I do understand it. He looked at all of the championship teams of the past, and realized that he needs a bonafide second star in order to do so. I’ve just never seen a 3-man combo like this one.

all those championship teams had great role players that complimented those stars so well. Lets see what pieces they can add to their core with the limited money left.

True. The Beasley trade cleared up some cap space, but a decent starting center is gonna cost them at least $5 million. They also need outside shooters.

lol at orangejuice jones. i still think the nba will be exciting to watch. those 3 playing would be like watching a live action nba jam. all those dunks and alleys being performed is just absurd. and other nba teams will have to play better.

“. He didn’t leave his home in polite humility. Rather, he did so like a husband/wife putting together an extravagant party, inviting all of the couples friends and co-workers, waiting for the crowd to arrive, silencing the group for a toast, and announcing, as the unknowing spouse watched on, that he/she had filed for divorce … he chose to make it a public spectacle.”
this is from an article i read about LBJ after his decision,I didn’t like the article that much but this part IMHO is very true
nobody would have problem if it have been done quietly w/o all the hype ,w/o all the meetings with the other teams etc

John-Bryant-54, I think there’s a flaw in your argument. Examine all of the examples you posted above and you will see a big difference between those players and the new Miami trio. In the examples you cited abvoe, there was one key player who controlled the ball while the other guys fed off of him.

LeBron, Wade and Bosch are all guys who need to individually control the ball. That’s how they play the game, and the last time I checked, they still only use one basketball.

I think Miami’s in trouble because the expectations are too high. They’re going to win a lot of games just on sheer talent. However, you need excellent team chemistry to win a championship. I might be wrong but right now I don’t see this as a good mix.

Is LeBron going to give the ball to Wade? Is Wade going to give it to LeBron? And what will Bosch do while LeBron and Wade fight over ball control?

The same they do when playing for team USA, they have played together in the past, Coach K and d antoni made that happen, its obvious they will need to make sacrifices, and they have done them in the past.

These guys have chemistry. I don’t know about you, but when I play ball with my good friends, we have good chemistry on the court. They play together once a year in the all-star game, their good friends off the court, and remember the redeem team? Yeah, they were all on it.

i don’t think miami is in trouble at all. dwade played point his rookie year with the heat and they made it to the eastern semis in 04. that shows he is a willing passer. lebron used to get bashed for being too unselfish. this site even compared lebron to magic johnson under his draft profile. they can get it done. people said the same thing about boston in 08. chalmers is a good young point. pittman is a hard worker and could be another perkins. vanardo is a defensive presence and rhe SEC all time shot blocker. they will find the pieces to make it work

Ball distribution will not be a problem. Both wade and James are tremendous players on or off the ball. They both have a tendency to distribute without hesitation, Lebron to a fault. Bosh is the only post player who scores and easily could flourish through offensive rebounding positioning and putbacks. Plus, the three are very familiar with the respective games of he others after Olympic practices. Face facts had the trifecta opted to take their services to LA, NY, and maybe Boston they would be cheered. Three young men in their twenties, all millionaires, unmarried want to win championships in a city while creating their own history (MIA = expansion) in a city filled with mixed race models and vacationing stars. Surprise! Also as potential greats, warm weather climates are much easier on the body. Each of these guys have been great individually, and have begged for help. Now they got it.

I’m not in any way claiming Wade, Bosch, or LeBron is selfish. There’s a big difference between being selfish and how you play the game. Let me try to explain what that means.

LeBron and Wade need the ball in their hands to be most effective. That doesn’t mean either player won’t pass to an open man because both of them have proven they will do such. However, both guys are playing to their strength when they control the ball and orchestrate the offense. What are they going to do without the ball?

Therefore, my argument is all about ball control. I think every team needs ONE guy who controls the basketball and distributes it accordingly a la Magic.

A symphony orchestra cannot have 2 maestros!

You guys obviously disagree but we’ll see what happens next year. I predict Miami will win a lot of games just on sheer talent, but I don’t expect them to win the NBA championship for the reasons cited above. And if I’m wrong, I’ll man up and admit it.

As for winning the Gold Medal, I think that’s another flawed argument. The U.S. has so much more talent than any other team in the world that you can’t draw any conclusions from that experience.

All those teams that were mentioned those were their own players excpt vinny, jabbar, and rodman no wing in their prime has ever left to play with another great wing its always a bigman so this tells me LeBron feels he needs Wade to win a ring and didnt want to face him and Bosh for years to come.
