    Travis Outlaw, or they’re close to it

    According to ESPN’s Chad Ford, the Nets have come to terms with Travis Outlaw on a five-year, $35 million deal.

    Such a move seems to be springing Plan B into action, as the team has missed out on big-name targets Carlos Boozer, Dwyane Wade, Amare Stoudemire Chris Bosh and possibly LeBron James.

    So what else might be in store for the Nets? As Ford wrote, one move that could happen is bringing in Tyrus Thomas or Luis Scola at power forward, among other options:

    insider also reports the Celtics are close to an agreement with Jermaine O’Neal

    UPDATE NO. 2 According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, “O’Neal has agreed to sign with the Boston Celtics.”

    Wojnarowski tweeted that the deal with Boston is for two years and nearly $12 million. He will be paid the full mid-level exception.
    That takes the other O’Neal, Shaq, a possible addition to the Celtics, off the table for the team.

    As we noted in our first update, the C’s needed a body at center, and O’Neal fills that role.

    UPDATE: O’Neal told ESPN’s Marc Stein he hopes to sign with either Dallas, a suitor mentioned below, Boston or Denver.

    Denver is looking for a big man up front, as are the Celtics with Rasheed Wallace likely retiring and Kendrick Perkins injured to start the season.

    Shaquille O’Neal and the Mavericks have been linked together in some of the rumors, but if Dallas does sign an O’Neal, it won’t be Shaq.

    According to The Dallas Morning News, center Jermaine O’Neal is on the club’s radar ahead of Shaquille.

    The team may look to sign him using its midlevel exception. The Mavericks are not interested in a deal with the Heat that would include Michael Beasley.

    Travis Outlaw is a pretty good pickup. I assume he will start, and he’ll give them a solid role playing piece in their starting lineup. He can make open threes and puts an effort on defense. He will be 30 when the contract peaks, so it’s not to bad. He should be a steady contributer for them.

    And might have LBJ give you the middle finger Tonight…Why are you talking…The Nets are still better than The Knicks…the 12 games won last year was them Tanking not the Team’s talent level…

    The Nets did not tank last season. They played hard but they just couldn’t finish games. hey will definitely win more than 12 games next season though.

    Boozer is going to Chicago (already signed)

    Lee is prepared to go to Golden State if LBJ doesn’t come to NY.

    So where are they getting this veteran your’e talking about? It’s not just you but everyone was telling me: Watch out for New Jersey. How can I when they win 12 games and bring back most of the same roster?

    How many games do you think they win next season? Mind you, this is the same roster.

    I can understand where he’s coming from. Everyone hypes up this 12 win team for next year. How they were going to lure every big named free agent with this new owner and this new arena on Knicks turf no less. And Nets fans are supposed to be optimistic with…wait for it….Travis Outlaw. And the same 12 win roster no less. They are the one’s moving into “hallowed” ground and they got a lot to prove, if they don’t want to end up as like I said earlier…the NY Mets of the NBA, and by that I mean the OTHER NY team.
