The8thDeadlySinParticipantTonight, when Lebron tells the world where he will go, the Miami Heat will have some decisions to make.. Decisions such as:
Beasely
Should we trade Beasley?
If we dont, can he start at the 3 position?
Can Bosh play the 5 if Beasley cant play the 3?
Is Beasley willing to come off the bench?Chalmers
Is Chalmers a starting quality PG?
Does he have any value?
Does he complement Wade as a starter?Wade
Can Wade play the PG position?
Would he be better as a SG?
Who does Wade want? Those are just player questions.. Then they have to go look for people to fill roles. IMO, they had a pretty good draft by taking older players who are ready to contribute right away.. The guys they drafted arent expecting superstar treatment and they are going to work to get their minutes.. Da’Sean Butler is 22 and a combo SG/SF type of player who can hit open shots, plays commendable defense, and is a very heady player.. Jarvis Varnado is 22 and is a defensive PF who is going to give you some hustle points but most importantly, he will be the wild defender in the paint who will scare some people away from the rim.. Dexter Pittman is also 22 and is a guy that, I think, will be a better pro than he was a college player.. He is a big body center who will play off of Bosh pretty well.
Now, do they sign those player?? Do they keep a couple of them, keep one, keep none?? IDK.. Then there is the rest of the FA market and guys that will be made available through a trade..
They have an issue at the SF position if they think Beasley cant play there.. To me, they should go after a guy that is a PointForward type of player..
Mike Miller
Tracy McGradyThose are 2 guys that come to mind that could fit that bill. Both can play the 2 and the 3 and both can knock down open shots..
Second, they have a need at the PG.. The typical PG for the Heat should be a guy that can make open shots, mainly threes, and wont keep the ball out of the hands of Wade and Bosh.. There are tons of guys like this on the market but not many that are reliable enough to be a starting PG for a championship team..
Jason Williams is the guy that has been rumored to be headed that way.. Some that could be traded for or signed could be:
Mike Bibby??
Boobie Gibson?
Jordan Farmar??
Salim Stoudamire?? (only if they fail trying to get anyone else)IDK exactly who fits the best or who the Heat like so its up in the air…
Third, they have a dire need at the C position because Bosh doesnt like to play there.. C is always a big need for every team in the NBA.. There are some quality centers in the league that are stuck deep on random depth charts.
Possibly:
Marcin Gortat
Eric Dampier
Brad Miller
Joel PryzbillaThose are guys that could be good starters.. Other possibilities, that are a bit of a reach could be:
Deandre Jordan
DeVon Harden
Earl Barron
Primo BrezicThere are some serviceable Cs out there but not many that are starters..
Finally, the Heat need to look at their depth.. If it were me, I would go after a couple guys that might have some question marks but have tons of potential.. Guys like:
Gerald Green
Joe Alexander
Shannon Brown
Von WaferJust look at the summer league rosters and grab a couple of those guys..
Go get some guys that have thrived in the NBA and see what they can do.
Mike Gansey
Morris Almond
John BryantYou never know what you can get..
Then, they should try for some vets that know what they are doing and can still get it done. Pull some guys out of retirement for a year or 2.
Rasheed Wallace
Jerry StackhouseThis Heat squad is going to have the ability to be something special if they are steady with their money and dont throw it all at one person..
Who are the best 4 or 5 players that you think the Heat could get if they dont get Lebron????
