meisi4Participanthey guy´s just read this article at it´s just to the point:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-lebrondecision070710i´m so sick of this whole damm circus. i mean lebron first keeps the world guessing where he goes and by doing that makes GM´s trade away whole teams to aquire him. that means they sold lebron to their fans.
okay then after keeping everyone guessing with his statements for almost 2 years he says he doesn´t want all this media attention? hey what about not saying: hey this could happen and perhaps i´m going there or this is a very nice city i would love playing here?
okay but you don´t intendet to do this and it was just made up bye the media! i bellive it could partly be right BUT: why the hell then do a national TV special to say where the self claimed King is going?hey this is just a farce and i think lebron never did anything or played any game that hurt his reputation more. definatly this TV special is like the most arrogant and disgusting thing ever to happen in nba free agentcy.
in fact i turned from: “this lebron dude is pretty good and i don´t love him but he´s okay” into: “please just get over the lebron circus i can´t see david sterns biggest clown anymore”
just would like to hear your opinion on this…

Malik-UniversalParticipanti somewhat agree, but at the same time, its like the cuban missle crisis, not like that was fun, but it keeps fans on their feet, anticipatoin! I do think lebron had to think hard bout this decision, but why have a whole one hr special to where your going???????? like stan van gundy said, it only takes 15 seconds or sumthin for bron to say where hes goin, how bout the rest of the show?

Mr. JewboyParticipanti dont think all the hype his fault though, because we’re the ones who want to know where he is going. he said bright and clear that he doesnt wanna talk about it until he makes his decision, and thats what he did-hes not gonna talk until july 8th.
he is the biggest athlete right now and maybe ever, and we’re the ones who made the hype and kept guessing and starting rumors of where he will go, and he didnt do anything..
what do you want him to do?its not his fault, but ours
i do agree with you however that the TV special is disgusting..but other than that i think he played it the best he can

TallmanNYCParticipantThe Decision program seems lame on one hand, but I have to admit that I’m hoping that whatever bar I’m in tonight at 9 has the TV’s turned to it. And if they are, I will be watching at least until his decision is announced.

nl2niceParticipanttotally agree with mr. jewboy. lebron has the nba in the palm of his hand and he knows it. thats all this about. its good for the nba imo. its july and people are still talking about the nba. its only going to get better when october and november come around. if lebron does go to the heat don’t be surprised if tnt airs an exhibition game of the new big 3. as for the hour long special its a bit too much but the money from the ratings is going to a charity i believe so i guess its not all that bad.

mikeyvthedonParticipantIt was obviously an opinion piece, and to an extent this has been a circus and LeBron has not exactly endeared himself to anyone by keeping everyone waiting over his decision. At the same time, I think it is asking a lot of LeBron to bring Cleveland sports out of its proverbial toilet bowl. He did not have the help or the situation to do so, and the fact that he put as much into it as he did was admirable enough. I mean, what if Kobe were drafted by the 76ers? Or Michael Jordan came into the league and was drafted by the Hornets (though they did not exist)? Playing for your hometown is difficult, but in LeBron’s case, he never had the chance to play with other top draft picks really, unless they were A) Huge dissapointments, or B) Headed to the glue factory. A lot of people might not know this, but playing with top draft picks usually helps. Tony Parker and Manu aside, Tim Duncan was one of the most anticipated first picks I think I ever saw. Scottie Pippen, as unknown as he was, was the 5th pick in the draft. If LeBron never had a chance to play with a team bad enough to really get good through the draft. They did not have pieces to trade for a great second option, like a Shquille O’Neal who for his first two years was still the best center in the league. My point is, what in the hell is going to push Cleveland over the top? In a league with contenders full of big men, the only thing to counteract would be to either have some of your own to compete with the others, or have another player who can come up big when it is needed. Cleveland has had neither, LeBron has played 1 (one) bad game that has cost his team a series they actually had a chance of winning (San Antonio was just unfair, we all knew that). He averaged 35 a game versus Orlando, does he need to average 40 to win? Well, the only time in the play-offs where Mike averaged 40, they lost the series. He scored 63 and they lost. He averaged 31.1 per game when he won his first ring at 27. LeBron is still 25. When Mike was 25, he was still getting whupped by the Pistons (well, his team, which is the same thing that is happening to LeBron, who I think we can agree, does not have a Scottie Pippen, or even a Horace Grant who at the time was a near All-Star player).
My point? LeBron is doing what he can to win. If he signs somewhere other than Cleveland, as horrible as it is for the fans of Cleveland, he is increasing his odds. I would say, as one of the millions of fans who does not live there, I do not think many people outside of Cleveland will lose sleep over it. Also it is too be said, that most any competitive athlete would seriously be thinking about leaving. How loyal would Cleveland be if LeBron had been a bust? Carlos Boozer I would say did a worse thing by saying he would sign there and than splitting. LeBron at least kept Cleveland as an option, but if he signs elsewhere he is not breaking his word. Also, at least Cleveland will maintain a basketball team (unlike say, Seattle), they have a new and far better coach, and maybe they will actually rebuild a team correctly to make it more attractive for people to come to the Cavaliers in the first place. They will still have fans going to the games and I am guessing they will maybe fill their roster with the David Wesley and Bobby Phills type players that always made their team a bunch of grinders in the mid 90’s. Cleveland, I know it sucks to lose an incredible player, but as someone who lives in Toronto, a place without an NFL football team and with 0 NBA finals appearances, I think you will get over it. If LeBron James is your economy, than, maybe start a damn Truman Show, get over it. He will always go home in the summer and you will get to see him at least twice a year instead of the standard 41.

meisi4Participantokay i agree to everybody saying we created this hype. we speculated but there are always two sides to rumors. if you just say everytime: “hey who knows” when someone asks you what your doning or if this or that rumor is true its your fault as well imo. i mean you can´t make an announcement if you don´t know what you are going to do BUT:
1. i think you could have kept it all more quiet
2. the way to announce it is just odd:you either going to do a one hour i´am going to piss off my hometown special. or a i´m staying home and piss off knicks, nets, and bulls fans and many more. i mean you either gonna be the one leaving his hometown team really in a bad situation. or the one who created the hype and topped it in a national tv special… just to say it was all about nothing and your staying home. both not pretty good options so you really want this being such a big deal? i mean you piss off somebody and doing it on national TV is not a pretty good way to do it especially if you are so worried about your reputation as lebron is…

meisi4Participantokay maybe this isn´t as much lebrons fault as i think but he really did nothing to keep it more quiet right? i mean nothing he said or did was really to quiet the situation and this TV special is just going the other way: creating more hype!
