JNixonParticipantThunder:
Eric Maynor- Maynor continued his masterful running of the offense from the 2nd half of their game yesterday. Very quick and a great decision-maker on the fly. Needs to improve shooting, especially from deep. Looked good in the pick and roll once again. Nice floater. He’s going to be an outstanding backup PG in the near future.
B.J. Mullens- Continues to make it a point to be extremely active. Not going to make a beautiful move down low very often, but he used his body well and shows a soft touch. The activeness is benefiting him because the ball is finding him off misses and off feeds from Maynor. Needs to get stronger, and will miss some shots he should make through contact at his size. Falls asleep on D at times, but he is a shot-blocking presence. Needs to time his jumps better on the glass. He shot very poorly from the field, but he still has shown a motor that’s impressive and encouraging. Still, he doesn’t seem like a bet to be a true rotation player next year.
James Harden- Even though he missed some open shots like yesterday, he’ll be fine. He’s working to get open and is doing everything right, just not making the shots lol. Continues to play fundamental D, even though Henderson was just too athletic at times. Playing more selfish than usual, but I think Harden will be a good SG in the future. He’s solid at every aspect of the game.
D.J. White- His mid-range game is great. Automatic from 18 feet once again. Not very quick or athletic, but he has a decent handle for a man his size. Really good offensive rebounder with a nose for the ball. Played better D than he did yesterday, as he didn’t have to defend a face-up 4 like Harangody. I swear to Jesus, trade him and you’ll have a very solid rotation PF. He has talent. Like this guy a lot.
Kyle Weaver- Continues to show off his underrated jump shot, which is a good development for his career. Can handle the ball well and has a decent 1st step. He’s a perfect low rotation bench player, he’s versatile (can play and defend every perimeter spot), plays good D, is pretty unselfish, and makes open shots.
Latavious Williams- His upside is Amir Johnson. Plays with energy and is a fearless defender and rebounder with a lack of scoring ability.
Robert Vaden- Anyone remember him? He had a nice stroke when he played for UAB. He just can’t do anything else, and he’s kinda fat.
Ryan Reid- Everyone’s favorite player and the biggest sleeper in the Draft. Lol. He’s energetic, but boy is he bad.
Bobcats:
Gerald Henderson- Continues to make athletic plays. Looks aggressive. He’s a big-time athlete, and he glides in the air. Shot the ball more confident, but he’s still not the mid-range shooter he looked like in college. Continues to play average D. He’s still plays more like a 6’4 SF than a SG. Henderson is productive, but I wonder how much he’ll prove considering he hasn’t really ironed out his weaknesses.
Derrick Brown- It could be argued that he has just as much potential and maybe even athleticism than Henderson. His jump shot is nice from mid-range, and with more repetition could be solid from 3. Can get to the rim, sometimes off of 1 dribble (long strider). He’s not a terrible ball-handler, but he needs improvement to create his own shots. A decent defender. Could work his way in the rotation next year, he has some upside.
Jeremy Pargo- Made some athletic plays and continued his good play from yesterday. Made the game-winning shot! Ran the offense pretty well. Needs toget better as a shooter.
Sherron Collins- I swear. He’s gotten less explosive and quick with that added weight, even since the end of their season. He could still make the team, especially if Felton leaves. Pressures the ball well on D.
Nathan Jawai- He’s HUGE. He’s not good though, but boy is he HUGE.
Alecis Ajinca- Has a nice mid-range game. Soft touch. Bigger than I thought. Not a good back to basket player. Big-time shot-blocking potential, and is a good rebounder. He’ll never be that good though, only average role-player potential.
Denis Clemente- Alright my guy, you might as well pack up and try again. You’re not going to make a roster this year. Once again, looked out of place. K-State fans around the world are frowning. 🙁
