Here’s what I hear from yesterday: LeBron interested in Nets pitch but not so much NY. NY trying at moment to secure Amare’ to help cause

that means nothing, he hasn’t met with Chicago,Miami, or the Clippers yet so saying he likes the Nets over the Knicks doesn’t really matter at this point.

Plus, The Knicks could add a Amare Stoudemire and change LeBron’s thinking.

I think there is a better chance LeBron goes to NJ then NY. Skip Bayless said that he thinks LeBron cares more about being a global icon than winning a championship, and I agree with him. To LeBron, winning a championship would be a good thing, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Mikhail Prokorov said he wants to make LeBron a billionaire, and who wouldn’t be attracted to team when the owner says that. The Nets have two of two of the richest owners in the world in Jay-Z and Prokorov. I certainly think that they could fulfill his dream to become a billionaire, especially since they’re moving to Brooklyn in a few years. Despite what I said earlier, LeBron still wants to win a championship and he will have a better chance to win one in NJ then he would in NY. The Nets have more talent then NY. What do the Knicks really have that the Nets don’t? The only advantage they have against the Nets is that they’re already in NY, but that’s not a big advantage because the Nets are moving to Brooklyn in 2 years.

    I disagree.

The Knicks are a global NBA team. LeBron could be a Knick today and NY’s ticket sales, merchandise sales, everything would go up. The Knicks would also BOOST his legacy. He wins a title in New York? He would probably be known as a top 5 great because he won it in NY’s Lure. The Knicks gave him a estimate where NYK would earn 700 million next season and LeBron James would earn over 1.4 Billion in his career with the contract/advertisements/endorsments

He has more of a chance of signing with New Jersey as opposed to New York, but I still think he signs elsewhere. At this point, I would rank Cleveland, Chicago and Miami over both of these other teams as likely destinations. Cleveland because of the money and connections, or possibly their plan to bring in a piece to help them win, and Chicago and Miami because they are the best destinations to win immediately. If LeBron is given a 1.94 Billion plan playing in New York, does everyone seem to think he would not be getting at least near that much playing elsewhere? You have to wonder.

As of right now, I agree he’s playing elsewhere.

BUT, I always said, if NY can add Amare Stoudemire to Gallo and Chandler. LeBron might have to take a second look at us.

I am a little biased, but am I the only one that thinks that it would be awful if LeBron went to the Bulls. I don’t think that Noah is a good as he is being hyped up, he is only marginally better than Varaejo. Rose isnt an ideal fit, and Deng plays the same position. And that’s just the roster. He could NEVER live up to MJ’s legacy. Even if he won 10 straight championships, people in Chicago would never love him as much as they loved Jordan. Ever. He either needs to stay in Cleveland or go to NY/NJ and start a new legacy. Chicago would almost be worse than going to the Clippers.

    Jersey could fit him best

All they need is a small forward

Harris top 5 or 6 point guard in the confrence
Lee is a good peremiter defender and knocks down 3’s (almost like a Raja Bell)
Terrance Williams is a great player could be a great player next to James
Favors has potential to be a Al Horford
Brook Lopez, # 2 center in the confrence
another free agent, they can get a max free agent of they get rid of one player (Bosh, Amare, Boozer, Lee)

Harris – minimum free agent or quinn
    Lee – Williams
    Lebron – Damion James
    Free Agent – Favors
    Lopez – minimum free agent

The Nets are a perfect fit for Lebron. They have the 2 hardest positions to fill already figured out with Harris and Lopez. They are a team assembled of role players, basically assembled with the need of a piece like Lebron James.

It would be dangerous, stupid and unhealthy to believe Lebron is going anyehrtr other than NY. How he gets there is the big question. Ive preveiiously stated he will go to the Knicks. But after thinking about it I think the best thing for his legacy, his profits and his winning oppurtunities would be to go to NJ.

    Go where the moneys at.
    Jay Z-Billionaire
    Mikhail Prokhorov-Billionaire

    Jay Z-Media WHORE
    Mikhail Prokhorov-Media WHORE

Get in where you fit in. I think Lebron fits in with these guys and would make quite the trio. Brooklyn vs. New York is going to be an amazing rivalry.Especially when Anthony is a Knick and James is a Net.Perfect basketball entertainment for years to come.

The Atlantic division is going to be a beast and most likely the best division in basketball.
    BOSTON-Usually contenders
    BROOKLYN-The Billionaire Franchise
    NEW YORK-Will Rise Soon
    TORONTO-Good Young Core
    PHILLA-Evan Turner

I never mocked LeBron to NJ. As a matter of fact, I thought NJ made alot of sense.

Eh, I don’t see it. It’s one of those ” I have to see it to believe it” things with LBJ to NJ. The one thing NY could provide over all of those teams?

NY could bring a high level player in 2011 when Curry’s contract expires.

Also, can we stop with the Legacy thing? LeBron would be bigger in New York then in Brooklyn. There WILL be more Knicks fans then Nets fans. I should know, I lived in Brooklyn. You think those people want the stadium in the middle of the city? Nope, alot of people are getting kicked out of homes and such. The Knicks will always be number one in the State of NY. Simple as that.

LeBron’s Legacy would be 100 times greater if he plays for the Knicks then Nets.

I agree with thatguy, but here are a few corrections i would make:

DEVIN HARRIS: I would even say Harris is better than what you are describing. Harris is a top 5 or 6 point guard in the entire LEAGUE not just conference. There are three point guards out west that are better than him and there is only one point guard out east that is better than him–Rajon Rondo.

Yes, I do not think Derrick Rose is better than Harris. Why? Because Harris is quicker, a much better defender, ball handler, a much better mid range shooter, and a year ago Devin Harris was second to only Dwight Howard getting to the free throw line. I must be crazy right? Not even close, remember Harris a season ago, the guy was ridiculous. Derrick Rose can jump higher than Devin Harris…. he is solid as a scorer… he is athletic…oh and he dominates the ball more too… hmmm thats all I see. I would honestly take Harris over Rose, but not Rondo.

DERRICK FAVORS: Also Favors’ ceiling is much much higher than Al Horford–It’s closer to a young Antonio McDyess or Dwight Howard depending on which skills he focuses on. His frame and athleticism is already better than Horfords and his rebounding is probably on par with Horfords already as well.

BROOK LOPEZ: The guy is easily a top 4 center in the league. He has the potential to being the second best center in the league–dare I say best, but I cannot in good faith say he would impact the game as much as Dwight Howard.

COURTNEY LEE: Courtney Lee is worse than what you are suggesting.. I watched every game of the Nets last season… it was tough but I did. Courtney Lee cannot create is own shot but he could be efficient when the opposing team’s defense has bigger better players to focus on–like when he excelled in Orlando with Rashard Lewis and Dwight–and while you might not initially think that those two (and Hedo i guess too) were not enough to command attention away from Courtney Lee to provide a few buckets its important to realize that that whole Orlando Magic team could shoot from out side, so all they had to do is post up Dwight, have him kick out the ball and swing it from side to side and get whichever shooter an open shot…

Anyway, last year the Nets system was nothing like that, and Courtney Lee was exposed as a sorta one dimensional player and he will find it hard to expand his game unless the Nets get Lebron or someone else that can command that sort of defensive attention to get a guy like Courtney some open looks.

TERRENCE WILLIAMS: He is so freaking good. I don’t even know where to start. I honestly think if the Nets don’t land a star that it’s ok. We will still make the playoffs and get better every year adding new pieces. And Terrence Williams is quite the piece. He can do EVERYTHING and reminds me of a pass first Vince Carter (the good AND the bad)–While Twill is probably not as good a shooter/scorer as Carter was, he is as athletic and has as good or better handle of the basketball.

The issue that worries me is that Twill might not “get it”. He might not have the fire to win… No one could know that yet but its possible I am right… But if worst case scenario is that he is a facilitator and not the Nets main leader then that’s still much much much much much infinity much more than what we were becoming to be accustomed to in December/January last year. The last few month of Twill’s rookie year was like watching rookie DWade (except for the whole winning part of Wades game…).

…winning. That’s the goal of the Nets and honestly people say how a 12 win team cannot land Lebron. Well Paul Pierce was on teams that were just as bad and then the following year he won MVP of the finals. True story. And winning is not always indicative of the players, it’s about coaching, defensive schemes, injuries, location (yes location), and locker room/team chemistry. I think ditching CDR and Bobby Simmons (who was paid 12 million dollars while contributors like Lopez and Williams were paid a third of that) helps locker room and team chemistry. Getting rid of losers/cancers on a team can help tremendously.

That said, I can’t wait to welcome Lebron to my Nets so all the Knicks, Cavs, Heat and Bulls fans who suggest that a 12 win team is no place for Lebron can continue to mock us throughout the season until we are at about 60 wins and kicking the Lakers (or Spurs) asses in the finals. How sweet it will be when my Nets and Lebron win that title! And then repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat. Make some changes. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat.

Eat your hearts out Knicks fans. Don’t you wish your Dolan loser owner sold his team to Prokorov now??? Oh, yes you do, and if not yet, you will. Trust me.

Knicksboy, you cannot possibly know if there would be more or less Knick fans than Nets fans when they are in Brooklyn with Lebron. There are way too many variables. But lets just assume we deduct fan base with only focusing on area population and location.

Since you seem to think those 500 (rich jewish) residents in Brooklyn that had to relocate (for millions more than market value for their apartments and crappy businesses) would impact the Barclays arena fan base then let me quote this number: 2,568,941

2,568,941 This is the number of other Brooklyn residents to take the place of those 500 or so that you seem to think would impact the Nets fan base.

    Manhattan has 1,629,054 people….

    2,568,941 – 1,629,054 = the size of 2 cities of Boston

So yea i totally disagree with you. If I had to chose which area has more potential fans i would say Brooklyn. But then again I am too smart to just assume things like the Nets or Knicks would have more fans once a new arena is built.

If you or I could predict this on a stupid basketball blog then we would also be hired as franchise surveyors who get paid 100,000s of dollars to quantify tons of information about product vs consumption.

So you thought it was only 500 people who had to relocate? Yea, go to Brooklyn and do your homework. It’s not just people in the location of the stadium but the people 5, 10, 15 blocks away from the stadium. There building hotels in the middle of Brooklyn thus cutting down houses from entire blocks.

I’m not a good guesser but I’m PRETTY sure it’s more then 500 people.

Also, what about the African-American and Latin Americans who had huge rent increase since the building of the stadium? Oh yea, forget about them. There only “holding down” that area right?

Oh ok. So the 500 that moved is what I was taking about.

The thousand more or so that have to will also be compensated at least 200% market value. They are making out dude. Those who pay rent also have options they can get free rent if the landlord breaks the lease by, lets say, tearing down the building.

A thousand isn’t a million. A million is how many more people live in Brooklyn than Manhattan. Thats the size of 2 Bostons.

You make it seem like no one would watch the nets because of the construction. That’s ridiculous.

I think Derrick Rose would be an amazing one on one player. But he isnt smart. He ballhogs and isnt a great shooter or defender. Harris is actually better than him in a lot of areas. And overall I would take Harris. Thats me, you are entitled to your opinion. But let me assure you that I have been playing/watching basketball for 20 years. Rose is mostly media fluff. He is talented but his value is overrated. I would take Aaron Brooks over Derrick Rose. I see things differently than most casual basketball fans, I don’t get caught up in image and flash. What impresses me is decision making and defined skills– like defense, and shooting.

You would be surprised. You go ask people who live a couple areas away who might have to find a new home? Yea, I don’t think there gonna support the Nets. It’s just my opinion but I don’t think there gonna support something that made them lose a home. The Nets will have supporters but the Knicks are the Knicks. If the Nets come to Brooklyn and suck? What then? One thing about the Knicks is they haven’t had winning seasons but the fans come out. Let’s see if the Nets have bad seasons if people come out.

wow, derrick rose got 20pts and 6 assists passing to nobody and having no other options on a playoff team and devin harris who had worse numbers on worse team is better? and then aaron brooks who had slightly less numbers than rose on a similar record team is better? no, rose is barely 21 years old while the other 2 are what 25 and 27? derrick rose is becoming lethal in his midrange game, is a better finisher than both at the rim and when he gets shooters will get 9 assists per game. and your best arguments is i have been playing and watching basketball for 20 years? i have been alive for 22 years and know derrick rose is better than harris and brooks. come on man.

knicksboy, You are still not seeing how vastly HUGE Brooklyn is. If it were it’s own city is would be the second largest in the United States. It is closer to being the size of LA than Manhattan. And LA can support two teams. I think Brooklyn can support one team. There are so many fans looking forward to having a team in Brooklyn, you have no idea.

Also, the Newark/NJ fans will still be watching the Nets. They are just giving up on them like the Sonics did. They are moving 3 miles east and will be on their same YES network. So if the Nets keep even half their existing fan base and add Brooklyn to the mix then I have to further disagree with you. But then again, neither you nor I are qualified to make an assumption like this. They literally pay franchise surveyors hundreds of thousands of dollars to figure these kinds of things out.

ok Zach Randolph has great stats too, better than Tim Duncan last year. Hell no would I rather have Zach Randolph.

You know who plays a lot like Derrick Rose, Monta Ellis. Thats what I see. Except Monta Ellis is (was… before the injury) faster, more efficient and just as bad making decisions.

He isn’t smart? We haven’t been watching the same player then… And IF you knew anything about Rose’s game, you’d know a ball hog is the last thing he is. Chicago had to beg him to shoot and take over games this past season. That was his BIGGEST criticism heading into the season, and has been since high school. It wasn’t his personality, however he stepped up and took on that role. He’s super unselfish, which is one of the reasons LeBron is even considering signing with Chicago.

You may have 20 years experience of watching basketball, but you’re off by a long shot on this one… You need to watch Bulls games.

I just am not a fan. He has a lot of potential and room to improve and I will give you the benefit of the doubt that he is as great as everyone hypes him up to be. But as of now I am just not seeing it, and I definitely know why people dont see it in Devin Harris–he was a no show last year.

So I hear what you are saying. But I mean, there are certain things to look for in creating a complete basketball team. I’m not saying Derrick Rose is not talented I just think that Devin Harris is a better component to a team with his skill set. And honestly I feel comfortable saying I think as of NOW (not in the distant future when Rose gets a jump shot and defense–he is capable though, so dont get me wrong) I would rather have Devin Harris.

Guys look, I dont like when people hate on players. I am not trying to do that. I am not saying Rose isnt talented. Its just my opinion and preference to have Devin Harris over Derrick Rose. I think Lebron can win with anyone honestly. He could have won with the Cavs with better coaching. And Thibodeu, Avery Johnson and Pat Riley (if they can get much better role players) can win him a championship. But I think the Nets are the best fit in all regards: team components, financially, team, future flexibility, fame, location, team, and team. Oh and the Nets team is good too. I honestly think people are blowing their 12 win season out of proportion.
